I love how this anime just starts... It gets into the action right away and just teaches you as it goes instead of 5 or 6 episodes of exposition before the "fun" starts.

I mean Tanjiro it’s not wrong in thinking of a bear attacking his family. When they are pissed and have reasons to attack they are brutal killers.
Have you guys ever read about Timothy Treadwell?
He and his girlfriend (Amie Huguenard) were killed and eaten alive by a huge grizzly bear back in 2003.
Or the Bear of Sankenbetsu, which attacked multiple households in Japan; Within the the span of 5-6 days, it killed 9 people in a brutal manner and ate at least one of them partially (+ injured other 3).
Interestingly enough, it happened in 1915, which I'm pretty sure was *right* before when this series is set to take place in. And the bear in question had awoken in the middle of hibernation

When someone recommended this anime to me, I was hesitant to watch it but I am so glad I did. It ranks as one of my favorites. Be prepared for an amazing ride with great characters, graphics and villains! I look forward to your reactions!
12:55 I got curious about knocking someone out by hitting the neck. It looks like it is possible to hit a nerve on the side of the neck or cause whiplash effect.
So Nezuko was coming fast to attack, and Giyu is strong and extremely fast. Plus Nezuko is weak and starving. So on the right circumstances a hit on the side of neck it’s not imposible.
However the best ways to knock someone out it’s by hitting the jaw, temples and back of the head (obviously) lol.

I can actually speak from experience here. I have had neck pain for a while after a 12h flight leaning on window and when I came back I tried to my neck around to crack it and then suddenly I saw myself waking up off the ground, with a toppled trash can and upon trying to stand up I couldn't move, and I threw myself across the room asap towards a couch where I threw up while shaking and then everything got better.
Upon investigation, turns out that I accidentally pinched my vasovagal nerve or whatever it's called and triggered a vasovagal attack that knocked me unconscious. So I'm sure that if I was able to accidentally knock myself unconscious with a cracked neck, then a soldier with specialized skills may be able to knock the ever loving jujitsu out of someone if hit at the right angle. Which seems like it's what happened since he hit her off to the side where the vagal nerve exists.
Fun fact, this is actually doable and not Farfetch'd at all

My anime-loving sister recommended Demon Slayer to me a while back. Once I got past the dark and gritty stuff, I actually became really intrigued by this shows direction of Tanjiro wanting to help her sister from the affliction she’s been given.

Super glad to see more reactions to this show from y’all! Perfect way to start 2023. Also, just because I got reminded of it from watching the first episode again, my aunt got a sound system for our living room for Christmas two years ago, and I decided to watch at least the first episode of this show on the TV in there - when Giyu did that big initial sword stroke that cut Tanjiro’s hair, the one that kicked up all the snow, the dang room shook from the sound coming through the speakers. After having watched so many reactors that’re into sound design I was shaking, too. 🤣😁
This is the beginning of a Journey everybody should watch :)

This is my second favorite anime, after Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. I wasn’t as interested at first, but my bff got me into the first few episodes and we watched the movie in theaters. Now that I’ve finally binged the whole two and a half seasons a few months ago, I’ve decided that this is my second favorite anime. Can’t wait for season 3 in April!
Somehow I missed that you guys started to react to demon slayer even though I'm subscribed here and I am an avid searcher for demon slayer reactions. So something is off with the algorithm hitting you. But I'm glad I found this to start this journey with you both again!

I think it's best to have someone like James watching with someone new like Stella. Because you miss a lot of details while watching it for the first time especially when you are kinda new to anime world. So, pls carry on. Also, do what you love mate.
I'm glad you're doing this one. I got 10 or 11 episodes in and it was in between arcs and then they introduced a character who was totally hysterical for no discernable reason and I just... couldn't. Also had some complaints about things that didn't make sense. But it's SO popular I keep wondering if I missed something about it. So maybe watching you react will help me appreciate it better and get a little farther into it. I do like the intro and the first few episodes at least.
I understand the complaints about Zenitsu, hes just a take on a trope you have to like or dislike. But what are the complains about things that didn't make sense?

Hey bud. I know EXACTLY who you're talking about, zenitsu and his freak outs are annoying as hell at first and I had to power through it... And then keep watching past episode 13 at least and you'll see that this annoying character trait and portrayal and annoyance is actually intentional.
I cannot spoil anything for you but seriously, that character you are complaining about? Was my most hated character... For exactly one episode, and now he's my favorite character

Actually the hero here is that grandpa (saboru), very lucky he prevented tanjiro from going straight home that night otherwise??? tanjiro will also die and the demon slayer will end immediately hahaha... well actually it's a shame that all of Tanjiro's younger siblings died maybe if takeo/one of them was invited they would definitely become demon hunters with tanjiro maybe?? idk 😅
Great anime to watch! But personally… to james, your “surprised commentary” when we all know your rewatching just comes out disingenuous. Be the guide for Stella and let her watch it. Ask her how she feels and what’s running through her mind. The visuals are amazing and commenting on them is great but when you voice things that are happening seems like your forcing her to know these things. You can always revisit it at the end to see if she is catching on. Seeing how Stella reacts from her other videos, she is a smart cookie. I’m sure her imagination will go wild on the lure and you also can enjoy seeing her excitement in figuring it out as the episodes continue.
