When I was a child, my grandfather had a 40-foot Hinkley sailboat that did not feel anywhere near as spacious as this. I think the light-color interior, numerous windows and hatches and good use of space have really opened this up! Nice boat.
@@rockets4kids Most older boats were and are pigs sailing, because they didn't know better - the reason modern boats are designed with fin keels and torpedo bulbs and spade rudders and beamy hulls isn't because they're supposed to be condos - performance boats used almost strictly for racing tend to have the same traits.
"Range? Well...Hahaha...put your sails up and go for ever!" Made my day so far! Nice to have another sailing boat on the channel, with a really beautiful finish. Thanks for the tour...
I'm doing a double take on the price. 245,000. That to me is a lot of boat for the price. I am a big fan of the in mast furling. It sure keeps the top sides nice and clean. As always Nick, excellent review. Thank you.
In boom furling makes sense as you can run a fully battened sail. I appreciate that is only available on more expensive rigs. In mast furling sucks. You find yourself constantly disappointed with the performance of the sail and no amount of tuning can turn the bellowing handkerchief in to a decent aerofoil. Single line reefing in to a lazy bag is no bother and you get a sail with 10-15% more power.
@@bahenbihen You are underestimating the cost of sails and rigging. All other things being equal boats are generally priced by interior volume, not length. For any given length a sailboat will have considerably less interior volume than a power boat.
@@rockets4kids rigging and sails isn't anywhere near he price of the engines. Rebuilding most engines in a 40' yacht are around 75-150k and same thing with buying them

Something like this is exactly what I'm after on the used market. I'll never afford one new, but with depreciation these become quite attainable and Beneteau has a reputation for quality and longevity.
Love the blooper at the end Nick lol... I wasn't expecting the sheer size below deck. And finished beautifully too. Personally I'd go with a Master unsuite. Stunning boat and as you said put your sail up and go forever. Thanks for the tour Nick.. until next time 😉
Great new trick Nick. No Miele to look out for but stick in Maggie and a crafty blooper at the end to keep people tuned in to the very last! Lovely boat. You keep reviewing all my favourite boats. My purchase list keeps going up and up.....

Was out on one of these boats a few times this past summer and what a fine vessel they are! Loads of space and such a comfortable and well laid out boat.
The light Oak finish really opens up the interior and gives it a very roomy look. Great tour, I can’t wait to see the other Sailing Yacht you teases us with earlier. Bravo!
My first approach to the water was a sailing boat and this could easily tempt me back. They have come a long way and this fellow seems blue water ready. Amazing for the price too. Paul
I love the used materials and the layout of the interior of the Beneteau, it even makes my Koopmans 42 look cramped and a very intelligent configuration indeed, I never understood the need for a separate on suites for every bed or bunk. it's a waste of space. especially on sailing yachts.
Great to see more sailing boats on the channel, variety is the spice of life. The next one will be on "Maltese Falcon" a double feature, thanks for consistent quality content.
Thank you for doing a sail yacht. Everything a person could need and unlimited range. The modern layout gives so much space...now I have something to work towards lol
I don’t sail and don’t really have any desire to, but every time you take us around one I’m almost tempted! Great looking boat with plenty of sensible and stylish touches. Thanks Nick 👍

Very cool to see the differences between the sailboats and motorboats, both seem to have lots of thought and are careful to get all the small details right. This boat offers great space in a more affordable 40 foot package.
If you've ever spent any amount of time on a boat of this size you'll know that a head which opens into a bedroom is not always a good thing! One thing that would have been nice, though, is a completely separate shower.

Did some sailing on a similar sized but older Bavaria last year. Amazing how much space clever design gets you, this one feels so much more spacious - although the pale wood probably helps.
Great boat for the price! Wonderful use of light wood for the interior and 3 cabins! My only negative comment and it is because it is a standard layout is the rear 2 cabins with a low ceiling. That would get the better of me on a long journey.

It's interesting to see a sail boat. Thanks for keeping it varied and interesting, Nick! By the way, I can't understand the design choices in this boat - I would have preferred to have another heads as an en suite for the cabin at the bow, and I would have connected the two aft cabins to one spacious cabin that has an en suite and more space around the berth. (but maybe they wanted separate cabins for children) Either way, it's a very interesting design, and I love the spacious saloon area!

Modern sailboats are usually much wider than those only 20 years ago. A modern 40 foot may be as spacious as a 30 year old 50 foot
Bet that Hinckley was gorgeous though. And a lot more kindly in a seaway
That's because older boats were designed to sail well, not be a weekend condo.

Obviously it's still the price of a house, but things like this look so much better value than most of the yachts you explore. Lovely boat.
Well sailboats are almost always cheaper than yachts (mostly because of the engine) plus Beneteau makes cheaper than average boats
it's on boy it's better to put your money in a rock than in a boat but if you have enough money to buy it isn't it
@@bahenbihen You are underestimating the cost of sails and rigging. All other things being equal boats are generally priced by interior volume, not length. For any given length a sailboat will have considerably less interior volume than a power boat.
