Marquees gave the software no confidence level that it would, could, or will be made better. He did damage the brand BUT Fisker absolutely continued on their own with a total lack of response, completely cutting off their customers, and now the note holder is in charge of this fire sale offering no details of parts, support, warranty, just total and complete disregard for the customer. I was, litterally, one day out from making a purchase on a GREAT deal. I back out, losy my $2k deposit but can you imagine being stuck on the road with no place to take it with no parts to fix it and where do you tow it to, your garage to just sit in and watch videos in the large screen.

Yes. My dad bought the fisker ocean one and i told him to sell it from the first second i drove it. The car was a piece of junk with 1.0. It har constant errors and at times wouldnt even turn on. Now its just a slightly better piece of junk with 2.0. Both of Marquees review of the car was fair. Car looks good. Tech sucks. Taco tray and solar sky are dumb. Should have spent more money making the car reliable and less on stupid gimmicks. Sorry Fisker Fanboys.
I've been watching motorweek since 1981 for car reviews. They're still going after all these years. My $275 worth of fisker stock is worth $1.30 i assume I'm not getting that money back😂
My girlfriend drives a Nissan Leaf that we’ve had for about 10 years. By far, the most reliable car I’ve ever been around. Tires and wipers, that’s about it. She drives it about 40 miles round trip to work every day. It’s not our travel car, obviously but it’s a great daily commuter car. Plus we charge it at home. EVs aren’t for everyone but it serves our purpose perfectly.
All GM had to do was make a volt SUV and volt minivan and they would have been way ahead of everyone else 10 years ago. GM would have been the electric leaders with volt like hybrids. Now Toyota has the rav4 prime first but there is a shortage.
GM is slow on everything. Back in 2010 the Ford Raptor came out and it took them until 2023 to finally come out with the ZR2 and it's still not even close to a Raptor in capabilities.
CEO of GM Mary barra made 29 million in 2022, do you think she really cares what happens to GM, she probably got a huge payout if she gets fired or retires. Pretty sick how someone approves her salary. How is anyone worth that? That’s $14,500 an hour btw based on a 40 hour workweek. And do you actually think she has food expenses? It’s all expenses out as dinners. GM workers, you should all be disgusted. UAW? Huh? You thought this was ok too?!?!
Yes I have one suck I great car !!! I love it. And going to be really sad when it dies 😢 but tesla started in loke 2008 and they are the leaders right now. Everyone else is trying to catch up
As a current Fisker Ocean owner, my car is dead in the water. Fisker is give me the runaround about when they can service it. They won’t tell me what’s wrong with it, or what parts are needed, to fix it.
In the early days, internal combustion powered cars were unpopular because of hand cranking starting. Steam was about the same because of the time it took to get them ready to go because of heating the water. Because travel was pretty short because of the lack of roads, electric cars were actually quite popular as their short range wasn't much of an issue. The only problem with electric back then was the lack of wide spread electricity availability. What killed electric and steam was the advent of the electric starter by Cadillac. Once that became readily available, the other two were dead.
Any potential suitor for Fisker is probably waiting in the wings for the bankruptcy to happen. It could be a better deal, and potentially they would only have to take the parts that they want. But there is also the question of what assets are there other than the intellectual property? It’s not like they own the factory or have a big dealer network.
Landrover would save 6000€ per Landrover sold cause that is the amount of fines they would have to pay for missing the CO2 goals. And they are avoiding these right now by paying Tesla for being in the Tesla Hond Landrover emission pool I bet it is cheaper to buy the Ocean assets, fix the flaws and sell the Landrover OCEAN BLUE .
April, your approach to EV’s is spot on. Tyler and his need for vehicles capable of long hauling in a day is in a minority. It’s also a North American anomaly. I’m Canadian. The data for average mileage per day is well below 100km for the average vehicle owner. I don’t suspect EV’s can replace ICE’s soon but they are definitely the vehicle for the masses. 80/20 rule applies.
I agree, I have been driving EV's since 2014. Primarily Tesla's. All of the cars in our household are currently EV's. I am fortunate to have a charger at home and rarely have to use superchargers. I have taken long road trips and used the Tesla supercharger network. By the time my family uses the bathroom and stretches their legs, we have enough charge to continue on. I enjoy not having to go to the gas station. We have solar panels on the roof, which have already paid for themselves. Another plus is the only maintenance I have had are tires, wipers and wiper fluid.
Love the 1 or 2 people saying how they drive their EV’s on 1000 mile or cross country roadtrips. No thanks, a friend of mine went on a 1200 mile trip and had range anxiety kick in when he had to hunt for charging stations that were actually working properly. He mapped charging locations based on having backup (and another backup) stations nearby. What a pain.
My friends with Teslas have an easier time on cross country road trips than ICE cars. They stopped taking their ICE cars, or even sold the the ICE cars. What EV did they have such anxiety?
Good point April. We used to have Nokias that had a 30 day battery life before needing recharging. We got used to having our phones last not even a day. Range anxiety is a real thing but for many people it is not relevant at all. I see mostly the production numbers we can make, the price difference in vehicle and charging/fuel, the charging infrastructure that isn't there yet as points why electricity is not getting there. These will all get better within 5-10 years and then electricity will become the mainstream propulsion for cars. Until then, 10-30% of vehicles sold will still be electric, because people have a use for them even with the current problems that prohibit mass adaptation.
Yea when Nokia had no apps to use just to talk a little during the day and more when they offered free minutes after 7pm or something and no unlimited texts. So yea I would imagine they wouldn't need to be charged for awhile. Lol common sense ok
DeLorean is STILL in business, though. They hand-build approximately SIX cars per year. Custom made to your specifications, like Rolls Royce does. It's owned by mechanic Stephen Wynne from GB. DMC is now based out of Humble, TX, USA.
At 4 minutes 30 seconds Hoovie basically says that Fisker screwed the pooch 12 years ago with the Karma and fooled any consumers who bought one and now they’re trying to do it again with the Ocean. As a review MKBHD did exactly what he’s supposed to do by giving his honest opinion of the car and let consumers know how awful the car is.
I don't know who needs to hear this, but the average American cannot afford a 100,000 dollar vehicle. In fact most can't justify 60,000 dollars. I would guess most families are more comfortable in the 20-30,000 range. So if you want to sell cars I would suggest building to that budget
Tyler, the continuing hate on Crossfires from Clarkson's comment was later replaced with a positive Top Gear review of the SRT. With no mention of a dump.
I read an automotive article site populated mostly by Democrats in the comment section...and they all make fun of Tesla because they were told to in the media after Elon took over Twitter and stopped censoring their political opponents. Hoovie is most likely imagining that the people dogging on EVs aren't Democrats.
Who's forcing anyone? I drove a Tesla for a day and loved it. I've always been a gearhead, car enthusiast and a fan of technology. When I can justify the purchase I will buy one. I think most of the haters are driven by politics and paranoia. Let's face it, ICEs are basically very crude devices with a lot of complicated tech added on to make them work in today's world, and the maintenance required is ridiculous, compared to EVs. The world is changing, whether you like it or not, but there will always be petro-powered vehicles around for the devotees, just as there are still steam-powered locomotives around for rail fans. They will become historical curiosities. Oh well, that's the way the world turns.
Yeah, it's not just water-cooler talk. EV's are Impractical, Inefficient and NOT green. Not counting the mining of Cobalt, it takes strip-mining 500,000cu.yds of Earth to get enough lithium for just one EV. The best EV out there only gets a pathetic 900 on the Power/Efficiency score. The same sized Gas powered vehicles score a whopping 4500+. Ask any electrical engineer and they'll tell you that battery power will always be the most inefficient form of portable power ever, because as the work load increases (like going from powering golf-carts to heavy cars), the exponentially worse it's efficiency gets, far worse than gas/diesels. EV's waste so much energy just while charging due to heat. There is zero energy lost filling a gas tank. Plus with a Gas/Diesel vehicle, the further you drive on your tank of fuel, the lighter your load becomes and more efficient it is. The exact opposite is true for an EV because it's always hauling the full weight of it's battery and gets hotter the longer the trip, thus reducing it's efficiency even more. Heck I'm not even going to go into how destructive electricity is to metal components.
Who Killed the Electric Car is an awesome documentary which every car person MUST watch. Regarding Stanley's untimely death in a car accident, one wonders whether some oil companies may have cut his brake lines, or in some way had been influential in his demise... an engine running on water... wouldn't that have been amazing? Good points raised here.
The MacMaster and Geoff Buys Cars will drive an EV and a diesel car from England to Benidom, Spain. Talk about range anxiety, gonna be a good one to watch.
Agree. Affordable electric will become 500k mile commuter cars that can be charged by solar production in a grid tied system. It will become common for the middle class who know ROI pays in the long run. Long trips? Leave the Tesla at home and drive your low mile luxury car with an internal combustion engine.
Charging overnight is fine if you live in a house, but people in apartments usually dont have the ability to run a charging cord to their car. That leaves out a large portion of the population and urban apartment dwellers are the ones most likely to benefit from e-cars
❤ GREAT JACKET APRIL!!!❤ P.S. Tyler, if you ever get tired of your Fisker I will trade you a Mad Max car and some other sh*t/crap that goes with it for it 'as is' even without a/c and support because I would love to take it to the local car shows and the Mad Max events with guns on it!!! (I'm sure you're not interested but I had to give it a shot cause I'm in SOCAL.....🤷♂️)
April is not only gorgeous but also smart: it was unfair to prematurely cut air to breathe for Fisker Ocean instead of allowing some room to get better over time.
Magna International supplies parts for nearly every OEM. They aren’t “In trouble” because they contract manufacture the Ocean, they will find something to fill that factory. Hell, they manufacture the G-Wagon for Mercedes.
I disagree on a couple things: 1.) Marques (influencer in general) isn’t responsible for companies failing! Fisker was already in downward spiral & most people don’t care what influencers say (anymore). 2.) It’s not “cool” to crap on EVs, it’s also simply pointing out facts. 3.) It can’t be compared to cars or computers coming up, because those products weren’t forced onto you via laws (although not fully thought through & functional). They came into existence organically WITH necessary infrastructure growing at the same time. 4.) EV are proven to be way worse for environment overall, and it’s not about “climate” or similar, it’s about forcing a new economy (consumption)into existence, because the current one hit the ceiling and the social system etc. are no longer affordable without substantial further growth. Best wishes
Hoovie and Rich need to buy up all the surplus parts and build one offs a la DeLorean. Does anyone remember the Beechcraft Starship? Orange touch screen electronics!
We should also be championing those companies trying to produce synthetic fuels and allow us to keep the ICE CARS it’s similar to the battery investment if the same was applied to these companies then economy of scale would make the fuel affordable
So many complex engineering problems now in new cars that are a result of making them affordable. If price was no object most Electric cars would be awesome. But who could afford them. We now have to include the cost of software teams that in the past we're not so integral in car production. Now programming is a major cost while also being an exponential increase in failure modes. Yeah, time will heal much of this. It was actually to be expected. It's what humans do when we get excited about the future. We try to move to fast...
Marques Brownlee is, i believe, the Final Boss when it comes to Top Tear Tech Critique and Reviews. So a bad review from him is going to do some damage. But they stepped up to bat twice and striking out twice because they just couldn’t get their junk to work right; and that pretty much absolves him of any portion of blame for the company tanking.
I wonder what a group of computer science college students working on the Fiskar Karma's UI for their senior project could do? Maybe they could hack into it and try fixing the bugs and then publish an update for all of the owners? I've heard they tend to work cheaply.
Even if Detroit Electric had stayed around, the tech would still be on the same level as it is today. They would've hit the same issue that EVs have hit noadays, just earlier. And they wouldn't have been able to make a breakthru. Just like they can't today. For that breakthru, they need room-temperature superconductors. Issue is, superconductors were discovered in 1911 and since that day they are working on creating/finding said room-temp superconductors to no avail. So, even if DE had stayed around, they most likely wouldn't have that much money to put in the research and that would've just ended up being a water drop in the ocean. Therefore their cars would've ended up just as expensive as today's EV with the same issues. MAYBE with better quality... If they cared.
The sad part is, having actually driven an electric Tesla and Hyundai, many of them are great cars. And 20-30 minutes to charge on trips is not a problem when you never have to stop at a gas station for your regular commute. If we don’t go EV it will just be another industry where we are left behind by the rest of the world. Europe and Asia do not want to be dependent on foreign oil. So it’s happening..
A hybrid can do 600 miles on a tank. With a daily commute you might only have to stop at a gas station every month. $35 to fill up which might be comparable to electric unless you have solar.
@@djplonghead5403 And a model 3 would require 2 charges at home to do the same. Cost at night time rates? About $16. My point is spending a bit of extra time charging on a trip (when most people need a break anyway) is, at most, a minor inconvenience. And over the course of a year most people spend more time at a gas pump.
What brought down Tucker was one reporter's hit piece that lit the fire under the SEC to prosecute Tucker for securities fraud. The SEC confiscated all of the company's financial books, which effectively shut down the manufacturing plant. Even though Tucker and his board of directors were ultimately cleared of all charges, Tucker's reputation was trashed, and he was now blackballed from obtaining new financing and went bankrupt. Tucker then tried to build a new car in Brazil, but then his cancer diagnosis and death ended that endeavor. The movie took many liberties and spun an inaccurate, yet highly entertaining plotline. Tucker was way under financed, which led him to sell dealership rights and luggage/radios as down payments to consumers for a promise of being able to buy a car, and all of the sales tactics were done before the manufacturing factory had produced a running car. It was those sales tactics that caught the attention of the well-known reporter and were the basis for the SEC charges. The Big 3 had their own issues to deal with (tooling up their factories to build cars instead of tanks, for one, and all they had to work with were pre-WW2 designs to sell between 1946-1948) and Tucker was small potatoes so that myth should be put to bed once and for all.
The difference between the DeLorean and the Fisker is the DeLorean is, underneath, a pretty simple car that most mechanics can work on - the Fisker is full of bespoke tech that nobody will understand or care about in a coupe of years. They are, as someone pointed out further down, as good as lawn ornaments once they break - as soon as the company goes under.
04:11 “ … and we need to give them a moment … “ She’s absolutely right but not while they’re trying to con people into paying twice as much for half the car.
The problem I see with Marques' initial review is that the car he drove was not an official press car, from how he described how he got the car. Not an excuse for Fisker either. They should have never let a buggy car get into the public's hands. And sending MKB an updated version was definitely too little too late. Sad too because Henrik Fisker designed some great cars, he just doesn't seem to have the business acumen to build a company to produce them.
HERE IN CA. SINCE THEY STARTED SELLING THEM I HAVE SEEN AROUND 5 CARS SO FAR, VERY BEAUTIFUL DESIGN WAY TOO EXPENSIVE THOUGH. SAME WITH THE FISKER KARMA, SEEN ABOUT4 EVER AND THIS IS IN SO. CA, ORANGE COUNTY, VERY SAD, NO ONE CAN AFFORD THEM EITHER.
The one issue/risk with these super tech cars now is, who programs or updates the software after the company fails? No one. Much bigger issue/gamble. With older cars like the DeLorean, people had means to build or work on them. Maybe not easy but a good machinist to make a new part. With these new cars in the technology, you might make a new part, but how do you program car to work with it?
Unless its a Samsung battery, 2hrs to fully charged. The big 3 did force the court case case and Tucker builtt 51 cars and it was never a 'named,' car.
Amber, you have to keep in mind that until the 1970's and the oil embargo, gasoline was 30 cents a gallon. There wasn't any way an electric car could compete with that.
Well, all of the recent criticisms of electric cars are fairly new: first, the government (state and federal) are pushing these vehicles, and second, they are just not practical, and cost way more than the alternatives. Lastly, the practicality of these vehicles is just not there for average people. ‘Nuf said! Bob from Spokane Valley, WA USA
I think the big argument is about the Power Supply to charge everything and at the same time run societies other needs of Power . Then will be the costs to power them up ,plus taxes that traditionally go towards infrastructure ,its starting now once many have been sucked into buting expensive EVs thinking they will be cheaper to own !
The five minute charge to get 500 miles of range cannot happen unless the efficiency of the motors and electronics improve as the current tech requires too much input power which the grid cannot supply.
How are they not able to figure out the software? They could even go to a third party for the software development if they can't do it themselves. They have a great product with very good specs,Its weird that they can't manage the software which is probably the easiest to do
Marquees isn't responsible for tanking the Fisker. They did that themselves. He just gave an honest review of the disaster that is the Ocean.

I've seen the Ocean in person and it's a very attractive vehicle. Drop a Toyota Hybrid system in it and I'd buy one.
Steam cars run on... Gasoline
You have to heat the water
I can't take my eyes off Nelix
I can’t take my eyes off April
@DL-lz6pj she's taken rhetard
@@DL-lz6pji don't know how Hoovie can form coherent sentences on camera sitting next to her 😂
In Florida we have Electrafy Garage ty. Rich Rebuilds so mabe it wouldn't be the worst idea to buy 1 at a good price.
A company purchased all the tooling machines that made the DeLorean. Thats why there are spares out there.
The MacMaster and Geoff Buys Cars will drive an EV and a diesel car from England to Benidom, Spain. Talk about range anxiety, gonna be a good one to watch.
Nelix represents whiskers, not Fisker.
10:24 yes, yes, yes, April. You are so smart and right on with your thinking. It will be an adaptation period like the cell phone.
Fisker, is this the same company that could not make a go of it selling the hybrid Karma?
Wow, more crystal ball owners!!!
I love that Buick jacket
❤ GREAT JACKET APRIL!!!❤
P.S.
Thoughts on Stellantis direction? Speaking of eggs in the wrong basket and sending the cayotes in the hen's den ? Won't be any eggs left soon.....
April is not only gorgeous but also smart: it was unfair to prematurely cut air to breathe for Fisker Ocean instead of allowing some room to get better over time.
April definitely calls him daddy!
Magna International supplies parts for nearly every OEM. They aren’t “In trouble” because they contract manufacture the Ocean, they will find something to fill that factory. Hell, they manufacture the G-Wagon for Mercedes.
They also make the Jaguar EV. It’s also crap.
They also build the Supra and Z4 for Toyota and BMW.
LMAO
I disagree on a couple things:
1.) Marques (influencer in general) isn’t responsible for companies failing!
Best wishes
I love this show but I don't get it until the PM so good afternoon 🙃
They could use a pontiac coupè, or the Holden Monaro ...... or a Rover 220 coupe...
I seen one today on a lot
Oh My Goodness Tyler.
How about an episode looking at Aptera and their parallels to Tucker?
The Fisker Karma is a very pretty car .
Did Bob Lutz ever make the V8 old Fisker modded cars he talked about on AutoLine?
Yes
Maximum Bob!
😂 “Fitzker” (0:45 and 2:08) 😂
Tyler "it looks like every other EV Suv" 100% true!!!
I believe there is a Detroit Electric in the Eisenhower museum in Abilene that belonged to Mamie his wife.
Again, perfect content.
FYI Hef got the name for the magazine from the Playboy car. His original plan was to call it Stag Party Magazine
When they get down to the Chevy Trax vs Fisker Ocean price, the Fisker is a better choice....probably maybe
I wonder what a group of computer science college students working on the Fiskar Karma's UI for their senior project could do? Maybe they could hack into it and try fixing the bugs and then publish an update for all of the owners? I've heard they tend to work cheaply.
the electrical grid is inadequate, needs to be upgraded for all the future power needs
Isn’t Magna behind the Ineos as well? Or at least portions.
They make parts for many manufacturers
Nelix don't worry PETA has been called on daddy. 😸
Bricklin SV-1?
Footnote...Detroit Electric is sort of still around...AC Delco parts....Delco= Detroit ELectric COmpany
The line on the roof of the Playboy car would be the centerfold I guess
Hoovie needs to buy and stress test a Demon 170.....
Fisker was going bankrupt way before MKBHD made his video and it would have gone bankrupt anyway.
A hybrid is the only electric that will survive !
HERE IN CA. SINCE THEY STARTED SELLING THEM I HAVE SEEN AROUND 5 CARS SO FAR, VERY BEAUTIFUL
DESIGN WAY TOO EXPENSIVE THOUGH. SAME WITH THE FISKER KARMA, SEEN ABOUT4 EVER AND THIS IS IN SO. CA, ORANGE COUNTY, VERY SAD, NO ONE CAN AFFORD THEM EITHER.
I saw a Fisker Ocean today with temporary tags on it. The owner should have watched this video, before purchasing it!
I enjoy your banter ! Don’t I sound intelligent 😅
"HE IS JUST A UA-camR" really Hoovie lol
Language, April! Our ears are not garbage cans! 😜
Just hoping it gets to 40-50 cents so I can 10x my investment 😅
Rockafeller ABSOLUTELY crushed the electric car. There's an entire HISTORY about how he did it. C'MON Tyler!
Partial warning: Do🎉 that to a cat again sir and I'll have to report you to the American pet / rspca .
Unless its a Samsung battery, 2hrs to fully charged.
The big 3 did force the court case case and Tucker builtt 51 cars and it was never a 'named,' car.
I want a cybertruck I put money down on 1. It should be good in a couple years.still love my ice truck.
Amber, you have to keep in mind that until the 1970's and the oil embargo, gasoline was 30 cents a gallon. There wasn't any way an electric car could compete with that.
Who is Amber? Lol
@@chrisphipps4589 Dunno, I must have had a brain embolism.

Crap begat Crap. Poor little Fisker. Cheers 🇨🇦
Swap the engine with ls in the karma hoovie
Tyler, you should make a comparison video cybertruck vs. deleoran!?
I’m hoping the canoo will be the next model A.
Aptera will most likely be the one, nothing touches them as far as efficiency.
@@readtherealanthonyfaucibyr6444 I hope they succeed also. They seem like an ok commuter but doesn’t seem practical.
Someone has to say what has to be said. It is not marques' fault if the car sucks.
]
Your thumbnail looks like Pantara's "Vulgar Display of Power" album cover.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
The five minute charge to get 500 miles of range cannot happen unless the efficiency of the motors and electronics improve as the current tech requires too much input power which the grid cannot supply.
How are they not able to figure out the software? They could even go to a third party for the software development if they can't do it themselves. They have a great product with very good specs,Its weird that they can't manage the software which is probably the easiest to do
