Laine is going to play with guys like Suzuki Demidov Dach Slaf. These guys can all shoot and pass going to be one of the best top 6 in league. All of them can play bumper but Demidov will be the best. Now we put him on PP with Hutson even better. Our PP has been shit now we use 4 forwards and Hutson or Matheson. I get it leaves us open to counterattack but we are after all on the PP.

Think you’re right. Times change a young player thinking he is doing what’s right for himself to me is not a problem. We have to be progressive and we are. Players know when they are getting smoke blown. Our team is honest and I mean all our team. The Laine trade was not a tough one you have to be an idiot not to do it. We call down players without even knowing what the circumstances are. We DON’T KNOW. Everybody talks the locker room or culture and while of major importance the ones talking it don’t even know what has gone on. We are a team that thinks we are the only one with culture we are the team that talks about it the most. If you think one guy can destroy our whole team then we were never a team. Do you think Florida has Culture

This might be the best move for Montreal. Relatively low risk. It’s money for 2 years sure, but Laine is entering his prime years with something to prove. I like it. If he does not work out then they can let him go after next year.

John Torterlla has been a jerk of a coach is entire career. He’s not the only one who is old school and believes disrespecting your players, screaming and yelling at them is a motivational tool. Luckily Laine won’t be facing such an environment in MTL, the positivity and focus of Marty will provide Laine the perfect situation to strive. Now it’s up to the player to fit in the culture and let loose on the ice.

Personally it is a low risk move and getting a 2nd round pick on a rebuilding team I think it was a good trade for both sides. If Laine plays like he does in Winnipeg it could be a steal not to mention in 2 years time the big contracts will be off the books and give Hage and Demidov time to develop. The didn't have to give up Mailloux and Struble and Reinbacher either I thought it was well done by Hughes. and Reinbacher will be a good defenseman as well

A Diminished Asset? What the Perkele are you talking About? A fleet of Trucks? A Condo with inbuilt Engineering Issues? A Management Consultancy Meeting with Clipboards at the Ready to Lean in for an Exemplar Opportunity to Unpack the Truth for the Shareholders? FMD. This is a Hockey Player. It's a Game. It's SUPPOSED TO BE pure joy. It's lots of fun. He's a Person. He lost his Dad. I lost my Mum. Life is Hard. Get behind the Guy like Empathic People do. The Fact that he is an Emotional person makes him an Asset as a Human Being for crying out loud. I hope he becomes the Heartbeat of the Team & Habs go all the Way. YEAH I may not know all the technical details, but I know This. A Young Aussie player in The Perth v Canberra Semi Final last year, copped a Solid body check and whacked his head on the frozen Water. Unconscious, he started having a Scary Seizure and the Rink went from Loud & Festive to Funereal. And I was Crying my Eyes out in Total Empathy for the Kid as the Gurney was wheeled past me. The whole place was dead Silent with people from the Hockey Family Praying & Hoping. Hockey is like Life. Amazing & Fragile and Tumultuous & Wondrous Painful & Joyous.

The 2nd was to take on the money.
    Columbus had no leverage
Pierre couldn’t scout or manage a cup of coffee.
It’s pretty obvious Laine’s issues extended outside of hockey compounded by injuries and a circus organization
Tortorella and Babcock likely not the best style of coach to work with a player dealing with mental issues.
Sounds like Laine sought out help with his mental health and will now be coached by St Louis who will have the patience and hands on approach.
A young, fun, skilled exciting locker room in Montreal could do wonders for Laine
Laine’s scoring could do wonders for Habs top 6 and PP
Harris will get more ice time in Columbus
This could be a situation where both teams and both players involved all win here.
    Hughes definitely cooking though!

For some reason, most analyst I have listened to mention the cap issue for Montreal. They are currently over the cap because Price salary is still on the regular rooster. Come game one, they put him on LTTR and they now have over 8 million free cap space.

  • @zemvk
    @zemvk Місяць тому +2

Laine had one bad season in the last three, he was dealing with an injury and needed therapy. Otherwise he was a ppg.
250 GF as the one stat that matters the most? 2 teams that made the playoffs didn’t get 250. 2 teams that made the playoffs barely made it over. 7 teams that didn’t make the playoffs got over 250 GF. Bogus claim that GF is the most important stat. Just trying to sound like “I know something others don’t”. Scoring more than being scored on leads to more wins which leads to better playoffs chances. It’s not rocket science.

I don't think we should get Crosby; he'll be expensive and I don't know he's the missing piece, and yes, he's still very good, but he'll be 38 next year. Laine's contract makes perfect sense. In 2 years, we'll know if we want to keep him, if we want to keep Dach, Price's contract is over, and get have 1 yr left of Ghally and Anderson which we could buy them out or perhaps trade them. We'll have the cap to chase a couple of UFAs that can make a difference then. Demidov will have a year in Laval and should be ready for NHL. I think our window starts then - in 2 years.
As an aside, I think Crosby retires a Penguin.

This is a TEAM game not the Laine show.
Furthermore spending 8.7 mil on a player that plays like a losing player is painful.
It is also nonsense talk THINKING Laine has a new mindset and this is his last chance mentality he has already gone through that door a couple times and NOTHING changed.

Harris was never gonna be a regular with the talent on D they have.so the 2nd round pick alone was a win and with Laine on the team it's a win win.
