Ythisens said in a stream last week that Blizzard was surprised by the amount of criticism and how long its lasted. He obviously didnt say anything about the up coming revamp to the azerite system. It sounds to me like Blizzard was blind sided and Blizzard is playing catch up.
The whole industry is going to shit. At this point, the outcry is a huge snowball, and if you slip, it's gonna run you over and carry you downhill. Bliz have to play it perfectly to redeem themselves, and they're all out of trump cards.
i love wow but i just can't in my heart feel the urge to play anymore bfa killed it for me i will likely return at somepoint but that remains to be seen. Great video and keep up the good work!
same. ESO and single-player games... I'll check on the next expansion to see if it's decent, but if the next one is bad I will probably just quit the game altogether.
The game is so dead at this point. The devs are so disconnected, it's sad. I cancelled my sub today. I want so bad to play WoW, but I won't let myself play it in it's current state anymore. I've played for 13 years. It's hard to let go, but I think it's time.
Blizzard announce bfa and kul tirans back in November 2017. They still have only 2 faces and are unable to release them in Feb 2019. They have since released 3 mounts and a few pets locked behind microtransactions in the last 3 months. They release 8.1 but release the raid 1 month and 1 week ahead of 8.1 so players who resub for the patch need to resub another month to try out the raid. Blizzard will probably wait until people who bought into the crappy pirate ship 6 month sub deals to run out before releasing them, to squeeze another month of sub time out of people 😂😂
If your playing for 13 year you know its always like this. They releas a expansion. Then you can play for 2 months or so. Then the game is dead caus there are only grindy things left to do. Gear will become obselet with next patch and then you regrind the next gear set. WoW is overpriced for what it is. Crapy Graphics and Sound. 15 Year old Gameplay. And you pay 13,-€ every month just to be able to play the game you paid full price for. The only reason people stay playing is caus they get caught in the grind and the "i need to help my gild" thing.
The only ones doing a good job are the raid designers and art team. Well, I bet the janitors at the office are doing their job better than most of the people at Blizzard.
It occurs to me that if Blizzard just had one developer subbed to preacher and regularly scanned his content the game would be so much better it would be unrecognizable. Keep up the good work Mike.
@@bluey1695 Altered Time was always a dead site and the mage discord was nothing more than shitposters and Frosted raging at memes because he's a miserable human being.
This is so true, I’ve been playing my shaman which has been my main since vanilla, it just doesn’t feel the same. Which is fine if you add something to it. But it just feels bland. And I don’t have the drive to level another heart. This ap grind that’s being recycled is just destroying the game.
This is certainly a big problem for alt players, i used to be able to run content a dozen times on different character/classes and it felt very different having to use different strategies for each one, but its been getting worse each expansion in BFA I got my main to 120, 3 more to 113 and was done. Bland mechanics and terrible questing/story.
10:30 Oh we did have a reason to be on Argus Preach: To farm BiS trinkets from Relinquished Tokens. This one thing finally tipped the scales for me with WoW. Systems in WoW designed to eat my time and keep me subbed instead of being fun.
For what? Fetch quests? The orderhall and campaign quest taking place in older areas was redundant. Fly 5 minutes and do 3 quests in 10. Traveling within the islands to reach the quest is already cancerous enough with how dated the traveling system is. You know what they should do? Maybe stop releasing new areas that invaludate the old ones?
Oh, absolutely. The Legion pre-invasions were more of a battle for Azeroth than this expansion. Most of the stuff regarding the old world HAPPENS ON THE MISSION TABLE.
Agree Preach. The number one lesson they MUST learn from BfA is class design, class design, class design. MoP rotations actually didn't actually often include many more spells, but the level of min/max you could do with snapshotting and the huge amount of utility each spec had was a galaxy away from BfA. Next expansion each spec should get 3 or 4 new spells, keeping them unique is an issue but I'd rather them be slightly more homogeneous and interesting rather than "unique" and bland.
100% agreed. I've always been an altoholic. I had 9 110 characters at the end of each expansion since Wrath, and at least 3-4 very early on. Through all that, I had one main that I used my first time through an expansion. In BFA, I have 2 110s. Despite it being BY FAR the quickest expansion to level through (took one day for my DH). And worst of all ? My all-time main is not one of them. Because they feel so much worse to play than ever before. I've tried each class and they ALL feel worse except the DH. Monk is a close second, but that inane GCD annoys me every time I engage a fight. Blizzard managed to make me dislike my main (since launch, might I add) and ditch most of my alts. It's probably the single biggest reason I unsubbed so quickly.
The general attitude of raid leads has pushed me to cancel my sub. I can't be 100% perfect 100% of the time and it seems like if an encounter takes more than 4-5 pulls everyone loses their shit. Too much pressure to never hit the wrong button.
Blizzard should use the Garrison technology and make Player Housing, give players a personal house in Stormwind and Orgrimmar where you can decorate it as you want, put Onyxia's head on the wall, or Ashbringer on a weapon rack display-- Do you want to give your walls and furniture-- or building a Night Elf or Gnome architecture? Collect various collectibles out in the new and old content by doing dungeons and quests.
HoA having a tree is better than the current shit we have, sure, but I'm honestly tired of rent-a-class bullshit. The baseline classes are SO BAD right now, the necklace will have to have some really amazing shit in it to make classes feel enjoyable in any shape or form. I haven't played for a while now because of the state of the classes. Even Legion classes were pretty bad, but still decent fun, they're going to need to make huge changes for me to come back to playing more than a month per patch. Which is sad, for years I played this game hours each day...
Not to mention how absolutely dreadful some classes are without talents. Affliction warlock triples it's abilities up from 3 to 8 with the talent tree. The spec is downright shitbad awful without the active abilities both numerically and playstyle. Why is so much of the class stuffed into the talent tree? It should be about passives and augments and utilities not core abilities that complete the class..
The game is still terrible. Watch Bellular’s dear Blizz video. He basically laid out a number of things if implemented might actually make the game worth playing again. Can we start a petition to replace Ion with Bellular?
@@Khadgar07 Not really a good successor to wow. Im talking a blizzard made game with a ton of vanilla systems modernized in a new setting/time period. No game on the market does it.
Really nice video. It's always nice seeing a well constructed video with constructive criticism. With all the passionate drama going around concerning the company and the game, having someone who doesn't overreact and points out clear information about the topic is a quality that you've kept since the start. Appreciate the hard work bud :)
I see the exact opposite problem from Blizz. They're not willing to completely scrap something that didn't work and start over. When they spend resources developing something like the mission table but people don't like it they won't just throw it out. They're committed to using it over and over because they see it as recouping an investment. Class design is like the only thing where they'll start from scratch, usually when nobody wants them to.
I think it's important to note that they kept the Mission Table, but scrapped the Garrison. They are different things. The Garrison itself was undeveloped, so they masked it with free resources from systems like the mission table. Take the table and all other resources out, and there really wasn't much keeping you there, but it could have been the start of something very cool if they didn't decide to shoot themselves in the foot. Like they always do. I believe that content should stand on its own. And if it doesn't, at least it won't harm the players. Make something. Build on it. Come back to it. But they need to stop burning the entire village down. The crater in Silithus is a great metaphor for this expansion, now that I think about it.
Blizzard has a tendency to keep things that everybody hates, and spend 2-3 expansions on forcing a bad idea to work, while at the same time they remove/completely redesign well loved mechanics after a single expansion. Especially when it comes to class desing.
Preach, I agree 100% with your comments on garrisons. I'd love to have a home base that's 90% cosmetic, where I can choose the music, test out rotations, and have a big "I love me" wall with souvenirs and trophies from all my accomplishments. Put a mission table there and let me level up my dudes each expansion or get them new equipment or whatever. Add some quests to add new cosmetic features. These can involve raids, dungeon crawls, holiday events, PVP, whatever.
I hated the mission table in WoD, but I do miss the garrisons themselves. I still went to hang out there from time to time over the last 2 expansions. It really sucked not having them carry over in any way, because they were as close as we've gotten to player housing.
The Buffs in the Warfront are so insane that I had games in which I literally did 50% of all the damage in that warfront. And the top 3 basically did basically 90% of the damage. Stacking the 40% extra damage buff with those chosen one dps mode is nuts. It's actually fun for the first few times, but still gets old rather fast. In this context all those people who are constantly on the lookout for AFK guys look especially dumb as warfronts are usually carried 5 players tops, the rest, afk or not will contribute in rather minor ways and that is by design of the warfront.
I'm glad you're pressing on the fact that things can change for the better and using MoP as an example. Well argued for piece with good insight why things are bad, how they can be worse/better and that the nail is not hammered into the coffin quite yet.
WoW just has so many issues now. Screw the azerite system, many of the issues comes down to basic gameplay. The engine can't currently handle more than 10 players in the same area without lagging, even on hardcore machines. The classes are dull, tired, uninspired, and worst of all, lacks depth. Loot is awfully done and way closer to Diablo (as you pointed out) than WoW, so it's very unrewarding. And the solo experience in the game is awful. It's too easy to run into a pack of mobs, and just aoe them down.Everything is tuned towards "quick and easy" instead of "fun and engaging". And yes, I used to love to raid, but all the other issues simply stops me from enjoying the game. No part of WoW makes me want to raid. Half of these issues have been around since Cata, but with the dumpster fire that was Blizzcon, the azerite system, and ActiBlizz' current bad press, it finally dawned on people, I suppose.
Man thank you so much for this video. I unsubbed close to 6 months back and have only been getting tangential info on the new stuff available, really glad to have something bring me up to speed on wow
The class campaigns of legion and the class-specific content in general was one of the best things since WoW began.. just a massive amount of stuff and a reason for alts..
That was the saving grace for legion for me too, something interesting to do with alts, BFA felt like a huge backward step and an expansion on the cheap in comparison.
Man you hit nail on the head. I am very new to WoW (8 months playing). Every time I'm pushed into a newer piece of content it is like having to learn a whole new game. Therefore, I tend to stay in one area on all characters. The times I leave that area is to do dungeons and other contained content, not to be in that "new" world at all.
I've seen a lot of these videos, and I don't know if I should take any of their opinions into account. Preach has always been, and continues to be, a quality (and relevant) resource. Thanks boss :))
The point about build a new game and not just adding on makes a lot of sense. Up to Wrath they just added onto the existing game with systems, talents, etc... but with cata they started revamping everything and thats when they stared losing.
@@MrCyberMuffin I was so ridiculously hype for the new expansion and now I'm not even playing. BFA killed it for me. When I stopped (being the raid leader for my guild), it kinda opened the flood gates for people leave. The guild exists but it's a shadow, by all accounts. They had 2 years refining Legion and most people loved it towards the end. All they had to do was fix AP per spec, fix legendary distribution/being on tier slots and evolve things like World Quests to not be completely irrelevant after you step into your first raid. Instead, they just broke everything.
Blizzard can’t see what’s right in front of their face. Solutions are simple when you stop convoluting the problem with fairy floss. The last 2 expansions they’ve tried giving us a “talent tree”, using the weapon, azerite armor and now changing the nature of the neck. Just give us back customisation through a talent trees and use the skill tree as exactly that, a set of skills that rewards skill in different areas, changing on weapon type for example and having shared skills across classes using that weapon type. As for gear, appropriate gear for appropriate content. There is no need for 15 different ways to get a high item level gear piece, mythic raiding gear should be unrivalled in mythic raids, pvp gear should be unrivalled in pvp, both with their own flair and unique ability.
@Preach Gaming The link to your shop doesn't seem to work. It just says "Shop not found." Bummer. Also, do you not have a patreon page where people can support the channel?
Adding active abilities to classes is only something I want if a class feels like it is missing something. Most classes have enough or too many buttons to press already. Unholy, for example, has ~4 cooldowns (+ more depending on talents) to track before you add trinkets or new azerite active abilities. It doesn't need more long CDs to track.
Just a thought about getting buffs in warfronts. They drop based off of killing blows right? More damage means more LBs means that you're probably going to get the super buff.
Had Islands been focused on exploration & offered fun & challenging encounters, they'd have been a huge hit! Instead, they're a timed zerg for a meaningless grind objective & no matter the kooky loot, pets, etc. no one cares about them. I really don't get it? I wish WISH *WISH* that Blizz would go back & alter how they play, cause it *could* be a really cool addition to the game if they would alter the focus.
I'd be curious to understand better what potential do you see in warfronts, what direction would you like them to take and in what way this kind of pve content would be differentiated from a raid.
I've quit wow a while ago, but i'm interested as to how making people relearn to play a class they have been playing for half the expansion now will work out for them. While they try to collect your thoughts about the disaster that ended up being BFA.
I would like a version of IE without any enemy AI teams, without race to the finish. Just collect the AP the way I want it (slow or fast) and after getting that 6k/9k/12k from an Island a pop up would appear with a question: You have collected enough AP from this island. Do you want to go back to Boralus or do you want to continue exploring/fighting?
I just like to think of Islands at this point as a more functional/ practical target dummy situation where I can get reps in with new setups/build while being required to respond to mechanics. Sometimes I get a consolation prize at the end...
I raid casually (heroic a few mythic bosses) and I haven't done islands at all. My necklace is only level 35 and I've been playing this whole time. I just can't get through them, it is very hard for me to stay awake.
I thought it's gonna be that current traits go into the necklace so u can mix and match your traits, please tell me that's correct? It's just gonna be additionally things on top of the armor?
I quit WoW months ago and now Blizz are going to have to make a good case on why I should come back rather than give Final Fantasy 14 a go. One of the big problems Blizzard have is that they undermine themselves. They fixed the issue with AP being locked to a spec by making it character-wide... And then locked the gear it powers to 1 spec, recreating the exact same issue they just fixed. They fixed the inaccessibility of War Fronts by adding a second one in so they'd be on a rotation... And then killed the first one for most people by making it drop lower level gear, thus recreating the exact same issue they just fixed. They didn't like people feeling unrewarded when no gear dropped, so they added AP as an additional reward so that you always get at least something... And then they decided to split gear and AP into two different types of content, thus recreating the exact same issue they just fixed. I love the concept of war fronts. If they punished players for just trying to rush mid at the expense of all else, gave you something to sink resources into at the end and had a simple UI that showed contested points and how many people were there, that would be a great start. They would also need to up the difficulty. Finally, Blizzard insist that war fronts be raid-like in that the next one retires the old one and you should only care once a month. That's not how players want to play them though. They want to play them as repeatable on-demand dungeon-like content where the pool gets bigger. They have so much potential for a dungeon-like game mode but they insist that we're enjoying it wrong because their way is the less fun way.
Final Fantasy 14 is pretty good, but has some big differences, I recommend trying it and see if you enjoy it, I play it and still play WoW, but only for raiding.
FFXIV levelling isn't great I will warn you, Lore Intensive. Fluid and the Story Really fits together. but theres Elements which are terrible.. it can be Quite a journey to reach through (espically the base game ARR) u get a Skill every level or two too ur Base Role, then u choose ur Class which is the advancement which once again gives u more skills every level or two. And u even get Role Skills which give u utility to the role you fill. so it takes Levelling before u get anywhere near how the class actually plays (FFXIV GCD is 2.5seconds.. but your class has OGCDS which aren't on the GCD. which u weave between these GCDS to buff ur next strike or set up a new combo.. or Do Damage or Apply DoTs/Status's) so it can feel Quite slow in the beginning haha (they do have a level skip and a Level boost which are £18 each... which u can do) but remember due to only ever needing 1 char (able to do all classes and proffessions in the game on 1 char) means you only experience that story every once.. so Yes its Longer.. but its a One time finish rather then repeating it. I will Say though as someone who got through it. Its better, the End games better, it has WAAY More open content. Raid difficulty actually CHANGES the raid your doing rather then repeatively layering new mechanics on it (well some Difficulties have LESS differences. but its not repeated throughout all difficulties) you have Different raids entirely from Primal to standard Raids. even 8 Player Savage content. i will say, though theres a Trend of the Game adding more content for a Casual to a Raider rather then top 1% pro play, they do add content for the top 1% but its not as Vast. Crafting being a ACTUAL END GAME to it.. it offers some of the Best crafting.. you can level every class on one char rather then multiple. your able to level every craft on one char rather then having to do one per char. It has the Gold Saucer offering betting with a Separate Currency... Chobaco Racing. and multiple other open world Activities, theres Fates which are Like mini - Solo to Raid Events in the world that spawn randomly. you got PoTD and HoH which are Deep Dungeons (these are for Different ways of levelling) you got Reputations, Different currencies. you got Eureeka which has a Separate levelling system entirely. I'd say WoW prolyl wins for the very top 1% Raiding and PvP. but otherwise FFXIV Wins in ALOT of things that'd apply to the Average Player. honestly im not even 70, and i already know of all this content.. and its not even the only content I've listed there are more that i just don't know about yet. not to mention the playerbase are so much nicer... I wiped in a Dungeon 7 times (there are mechanics to normal Dungeons.. which will kill you Lol not a 1 hit style of move and die but more like Debuffs that u have to use items on the ground to cure and things) and the players did nothing but literally teach me 0 toxicity.. only a few laughs and some tips and we got it done.
I have quit wow and defected to FFXIV as well. Way better community, gameplay, content. One player spent 40 minutes just to help me get my mount. I did not know this person, was a complete stranger. When's the last time you saw that kinda thing on wow?
@@badspazz007 A really low level player got themselves stuck in Moonglade once on the Horde side, so I flew my mage over to make them a portal to get back to civilization. XD WoW has an odd split between apathy and entitlement in general though.
I haven't done an island expedition since the opening weeks of the expansion. The only real reason to go there is the azerite power, but they're just so boring. Warfronts are okay...? My biggest gripe about them is the 3-5 minute AFK that exists in BOTH warfronts in the final siege before the boss while the demolishers and catapults you've summoned break down a wall or destroy ballistae. The Darkshore one sort of fixes this by adding the crossbow turrets to allow players to help take the ballistae down, but there's only two of them and it still takes forever.
same for me...but by looking at current situation its probably best to wait for last patch and/or next expansion...but this time im seriously not buying next expansion atleast until its several months out
For the class design issue, they created that monster back in Cata/Mop and never solved it since then. Trying to creat 36 different class and balance them properly is impossible, talk about shooting yourself in the foot. That even ruin a good part of Legion best system because many people feel obligate to farm the artefact power x2 to be able to play a second spec. They should try to bring vanilla/Wotlk class design back and make the classe more similar spec wise.
But Cata/MoP is widely regarded as the golden standard, the very peak of class design. What they have done since then is to move back towards a class design that look more like the Classic/TBC model. Cata and MoP was when the classes were at their most homogenized, yes, but it was also when they were the most complex, and most importantly, when the classes were at their strongest and most fun.
idk if its the server i am on or what, but i wish i lived in the world preach lives in where mythics and pugs are fun. i have NEVER had a good experience with either. i have never made it past a +5 no matter how well i do the grp always sucks for me and that's assuming i even make it into a grp. I dont have the highest geared toons, my 2 highest are 383+ and i still get declined from most grps and i have no idea why.
A rework, or imporvement of the Garrison made into a guild garrison, (with a part where everyone can have his own house, like the farm in pandaria, but where you can invite people) would be awesome. Have a lot of quests revolve around it, boost guilds with guild world quests, weekly quests and dungeon / raid / pvp quests to build up and improve the garrison. Every profession could have a questline, there could be memorable npc that you begin to form a relationship to over the curse of the questlines (like with Nazgrim from Wrath to Pandaria). Have guild armor, weapons, mounts and the like. Then let there be a trigerable attack on the garrison, where the garrison is attacked, even a mini raidboss. There is so much potential in guild fortresses and guilds per se, that I dont know why they would ignore that. This feature, if done right, could even be carried into the next expansion and the one after that and improve the features of that expansion
I agree about the garrisons. Hopefully, down the line, Blizzard implements actual player housing or player bases/islands ect that can actually be fully customizable.
Player Islands! :O *Mind blown* Imagine the possibility of me putting my forge on the left side in contrast to you putting in on the right side! SUCH CUSTOMISATION! No, seriously I liked my lvl1 Garrison. It was small and cozy in Frostfire Mountains and once I upgraded it to level 2... I just dropped it completly.
To comment on the character progression, i predict that already next week we'll probably be able to use heroism on pull on conclave, which makes farm more agreeable i'll admit.
I still have some time left from when the 6-month subscription gave you the free boat but after that is up I doubt I will be continuing to play and might come back when the next expansion comes out or leave if for a couple of more expansions then play again.
Holy crap I didn't know the buff worked like that in warfronts. I've gotten it quite a few times before December and I was mediorcely geared as a holy Pala
My thoughts on the azerite gain is to just give it a weekly cap so if you wanna earn the cap raiding you can, if you want to earn it in m+, islands etc. If you want to do that content. Just my idea on the matter great vid mike :)
Can anybody explain to me how the new azerite system is any better? the slots head/shoulder/breast will still have traits that you have no control over, except you buy the ludacris overpriced items for 4times the cost of a rnd one. the only thing that changes will be that you don't need to grind for the unlock itself, but who does this rly affect? all my alts have ring 1+2 unlocked, most have ring 3 too with 415 ilvl mind you, so what you are rly getting is ring 4 and the +5ilvl ring. wow. guess what you still will be fucked on your main/alt if you don't roll that brain freeze trait for frostmage or that in the rhythm trait for marksman. this system still sucks.
I disagree with the 8.2 timeline, if ANYTHING they'll be able to balance out the new systems around 8.3 and I'm being fairly optimistic with that. First they have to implement them, then a couple months of balancing those out, and best case scenario they'll be able to balance and fit the new systems around mid or late 8.2 but I have very little faith that the game will start feeling better early on in these systems' implementation
They did try consistency and just adding on in BFA. They maintained the popular systems of legion, (world quests, M+, invasions), and added new features (islands, warfronts). The common complaint in BFA is that there has been too much consistency from legion.
I am into raiding, but not enough. I want to do some progression and then get out again, and that's just not enough reason to sub. Progression is massively and extremely frustrating at times with my guild, and it ends at the first Mythic boss, typically. It's fun enough, despite my guild not being very good overall, but yeah, it's just no reason to get back into the game if there isn't anything else to do.
Your last point made a lot of sense. It could be why TBC and Wrath are considered some of the best expansions of all time, because they added onto and interated on Vanilla (an already solid game) instead of reinventing the wheel
I've been playing m+ so much since the new raid I sprained my pinky (my hotkey modifier is shift). As the result I'm sitting at 405 with a casual group not done with normal yet.
Who else wouldn't mind doing warfronts and islands if there was a PvP option? It would make it more dynamic and different every time you played it. Won't cost much to do as well.
i think since the expansion launched i have done a total of max 10 island expeditions. they are to me atleast. queable apexis fill the bar quests and i dont find them appealing.
I just started playing last April, so my experience is small, but IMO Reaping is the best thing that happened to Tanking since then. For pretty much all of season 1 i was one of two tanks in my guild, who did regulary tank m+ (we're about 40 people and our raid tanks just do their weekly (which is fine ofc).) Since reaping hit suddenly tank alt pop up everywere in my guild, literally half of the guild is having one. Which in return makes me enjoy m+ more because i often can bring my heal/dps alts and when i tank on my main (DK, so Frost for Raid and Blood for m+ it is) i'm enjoying it way more, because i don't have to do 6 keys i don't really want for weekly's anymore. Plus reaping is really fun to Tank. Today I opened a chest on my 3 heal alt above 390 for the first time ever, on top on my 2 tanks and 3 dps. And I didn't even noticed i had been running on every alt. That's in a grievous week...
I hope that they can turn it around...but a lot of things need to change. I unsubbed yesterday, after long deliberation and back and forth with my guild....I just don't enjoy this game anymore (as it is now), at least not to put the hours in to be a mythic raider and raiding was the last thing I enjoyed to a degree, but the gameplay and the grind and systems surrounding it , as well as the entirely broken reward-system just killed it for me, I just couldn't deal with it anymore; I'd rather spend those 14+ hours a week (raidtimes+farming/dungeons) doing something enjoyable.
Honestly as a PvE main for years and years, the new raid is great, and reaping is amazing. I actually thoroughly enjoy doing m+ (as a ww monk, might be biased) but its honestly so much fun with reaping.
Mhm I think i'll give BfA a try right now, i'll get up to speed and back into the game until the next patch "fixes" some issues and hopefully it'll be better then. In the mean time i can do the story & mythic+/raiding!
I stopped playing after the first raid tier of MoP - missed all of WoD and rejoined the game just as Nighthold was released. I then stopped playing at the end of Antorus (spelling?) waited until January to buy BFA. Started playing BFA knowing what the feedback was....enjoyed the levelling process, I thought the story was good and how it played out was good. I don’t like how I can solo 3 man quests. I’m far from an amazing player but I’m more than capable of Heroic raiding (Never tried Mythic raiding) I would like to see a return to epic quality items being more exclusive. I believe you should have to run normal 5 mans and then 5 man heroics and then get into normal tier raiding / Low level mythic keys and work up to heroic and Mythic. Everything feels face roll. I don’t feel engaged by the game at all. Can we get rid of the extra roll thing we get. Can we get rid of titanforging. Can we get rid of easy to acquire epic items - they just aren’t epic. There is no progress. Yes the raid bosses are more demanding on the abilities front but meh...the game fell over before I got to that point so I unsubbed.
I totally agree. I want that gear progression. I quit when everyone started getting mythic raid gear from AFK world bosses and 1800 arenas. There is no incentive to push forward anymore. Remove titanforging! You never feel good getting new gear because a random heroic can drop better.
@FrozenLemur Exactly! What I would like to see is just basic items...normal blues > Heroic Blues > Epics. Raids should not be clearable with normal blues. Legendary items should be a Boss drop and they should be class specific! That’s what makes them special! They should come from clearing the hardest content. LFR needs to disappear! People don’t even need a guild to see game content - potentially keep difficulty but make it a switchable difficulty like Heroic / Mythic and get people to join a guild or search for people....build a community ffs. I like world bosses! The Vanilla dragons were awesome! even if you were just watching the two best guilds on your server take it in turns to wipe until one of them kills it! AFK world bosses are pants.
Honestly, when they said a neck piece I thought they would do like the artifact weapons, and I am sure I am not alone. How they thought azerite gear was the way to go has me baffled to say the least. The neck gave them the perfect place to add leggo effects with sacrificing talent trees, and add game play changing traits, but here we are.
I have hope for the future of BFA and WoW. I do. I have played this game since TBC, and Legion was byfar my favorite expansion in terms of fun, and that was LAST expansion. I know they can make a good game when they want too, Legion proved that to me.
The infamous participation model in order to generate the E-word: Excitement! But ever decreasingly rewarding carrot on a stick that moves further away as you become stronger. Not to mention the carrot itself has passed its expiry date.
As good as these changes seem, and the updates that're coming might be great, however I think we're getting too little too late, it's not going to fix anything long term.
Housing instead of the garisson would have been fine. And the house could be in your specific starting zones enviroment. Combine that with the profession system and there would be an endless farm of recipies for furnitures and things that show your achievements like statues or pictures. You could add the wardrobe in it and maybe a little garden for flowers you can give to your guild members ;) WoW was such a nice game but now it's just a mash up of new features.
I miss WoD/MoP class design. I know a lot of people felt like it was bloated but symbiosis on druids was so much fun, and MW monk's fistweaving was really interesting and would be a cool addition to disc priest imo, one melee and one ranged. I feel like the biggest reason I have a hard time logging in is because there just isn't a class I want to play. They all feel gutted, and the fact that when you're leveling you don't really even get anything talent or spellbook wise past level 100 just feels bad. I miss how like in MoP when you were leveling they threw in like 2 more spells so that you felt good when you finally got Ascension as a shaman. Haven't felt that way in a while. I also agree with what you said about garrisons. It was cool to upgrade them and establish an herb garden and to have like your base with that troll dude who sent you on missions. I hope they'll try to like put out a guild hall variant of the WoD garrison, but like set in the old world so that it doesn't become useless once the expansion is over. I also miss stuff like the trapping in WoD for leather/cloth. I really hate how the game bounces so hard each expansion, like you never know what to expect, your class could be completely redone just for the sake of redoing a class and it turns out to be boring to you, or your favorite feature could be removed. I'd rather expansions be treated as progression from previous content and less like a fresh start.
Ythisens said in a stream last week that Blizzard was surprised by the amount of criticism and how long its lasted. He obviously didnt say anything about the up coming revamp to the azerite system. It sounds to me like Blizzard was blind sided and Blizzard is playing catch up.
I can definitely believe that they would be surprised, they are so out of touch with the fans its unreal.
Kind of incredible considering they received most of this criticism during the beta and they completely ignored a lot of that feedback as well
And Ythisens got fired along with 800 other people.
The whole industry is going to shit. At this point, the outcry is a huge snowball, and if you slip, it's gonna run you over and carry you downhill.
Bliz have to play it perfectly to redeem themselves, and they're all out of trump cards.
^^Which is what they fail to realize...^^ Edit: Over and over and OVER, and OVER AGAIN they keep FAILING to realize THIS ffs.
i love wow but i just can't in my heart feel the urge to play anymore bfa killed it for me i will likely return at somepoint but that remains to be seen.
Great video and keep up the good work!
Same here. I've moved to Elder Scrolls Online for the time being just for a change of pace that isn't entirely gear focused. I will be back!
Feeling dead too but I miss my guild.
same. ESO and single-player games... I'll check on the next expansion to see if it's decent, but if the next one is bad I will probably just quit the game altogether.
Exactly. I just can’t bring myself to play. It’s titanfall 2 and Apex for the time being.
went to FF14 and having a blast, BFA was huge disappointment
The game is so dead at this point. The devs are so disconnected, it's sad. I cancelled my sub today. I want so bad to play WoW, but I won't let myself play it in it's current state anymore. I've played for 13 years. It's hard to let go, but I think it's time.
I feel the same way , I have played for soo long but the game is a shadow of its former self.
I got nobody playing the game. And without a good SoloQ system for both pve and pvp content, the heck am i supposed to do there?
RetributionAngel TRUTH
The only ones doing a good job are the raid designers and art team. Well, I bet the janitors at the office are doing their job better than most of the people at Blizzard.
It occurs to me that if Blizzard just had one developer subbed to preacher and regularly scanned his content the game would be so much better it would be unrecognizable.
Keep up the good work Mike.
The only thing that could stop this would be UA-cams broken notification system haha!
I can guarantee you there are people involved with the development of wow watching videos of Mike and other wow youtubers.
@ Exactly. They have people dedicated to scanning not just top WoW youtubers like Preach, but also other sites and reviews.
Unfortunately, that one developer was subbed to T&E and was constantly told that the there was nothing wrong.
@Ryan W That latest T&E skit was funny though. Right?
"how the forums have shifted"
Mate the mage class forum is dead
And the discord, and the mage website is basically dead, no consistent mage theorycrafters anymore.
It's really sad. All the specs are just kinda clunky to play now. Arcane especially is a shadow of its legion self and it makes me so sad:(
@@bluey1695 We still have a handful of theorycrafters in #Research in Altered Time on the Discord.
@@bluey1695 Altered Time was always a dead site and the mage discord was nothing more than shitposters and Frosted raging at memes because he's a miserable human being.
Because forums are generally overcomplicated. Reddit for example is a perfectly good alternative
They took the fun out of playing many of the classes I use to enjoy playing including my main.
This is so true, I’ve been playing my shaman which has been my main since vanilla, it just doesn’t feel the same. Which is fine if you add something to it. But it just feels bland. And I don’t have the drive to level another heart. This ap grind that’s being recycled is just destroying the game.
They even took fun out of leveling characters. I leveled 2 110-120 at the start of BfA and that was more than enough to unsubscribe.
@@vladimirseven777 I used to cap one of every class but now I cant even cap 2. It's brutal.
The classes ,the faction stories make no sense, boring and grindy systems
This is certainly a big problem for alt players, i used to be able to run content a dozen times on different character/classes and it felt very different having to use different strategies for each one, but its been getting worse each expansion in BFA I got my main to 120, 3 more to 113 and was done. Bland mechanics and terrible questing/story.
10:30 Oh we did have a reason to be on Argus Preach: To farm BiS trinkets from Relinquished Tokens. This one thing finally tipped the scales for me with WoW. Systems in WoW designed to eat my time and keep me subbed instead of being fun.
BAttle for Azeroth should use more of pre-existing Azeroth. Just my 2 cents.
then people would just complain about blizzard being unoriginal using existing content >
@@ianhorne9594 they could easly offset that by providing more quantity wise
Domenic Serena I think warfronts were their attempt to use more preexisting azeroth
I would rather play a MoP holy pally then any healer right now. (I was a holy pally main in MoP bring the hate)
I found rotations less enjoyable with the GCD changes as well tbh. Hope they revert them at some point :(
I have unsubbed, played for 13 years on wow . I am so tired of the rng loot monster, feels like you can never win .
Don’t mind me, just waiting to resub for classic
Friendly reminder that Ion "Watcher" Hazzikostas is an anagram of Azeroth casino task "whiz".
@Matt Dredge how so ?
typical unhinged german lol also... that anagram thing really blew my mind man...
Papa Emeritus ii bellular isn’t German lol
Bellular isn't....german? Naaaah, that can't be right. What is he then?
At this point i dont want any expansions. I want a new game.

Same. At least classic will be and entirely different game to this.
Bellular was right when he said BFA feels more like a contraction than an expansion. We've lost more than we gained from Legion to BFA
Not many people who would actually give positives and negatives anymore. Good on you Preach.
This is exactly what i was curious about thanks! Im going to continue to play eso for now. Good job on the video look forward to your next one!
The times I leave that area is to do dungeons and other contained content, not to be in that "new" world at all.
lol looking at MMO champ to see what I missed and the top thread is 'will western civilisation collapse?'
I've seen a lot of these videos, and I don't know if I should take any of their opinions into account.
Preach has always been, and continues to be, a quality (and relevant) resource.
Thanks boss :))
The point about build a new game and not just adding on makes a lot of sense. Up to Wrath they just added onto the existing game with systems, talents, etc... but with cata they started revamping everything and thats when they stared losing.
bfa has been such a disappointment
It looked like THE shit, but sadly it stayed at looking good
@@MrCyberMuffin I was so ridiculously hype for the new expansion and now I'm not even playing.
It's still better than how WoD was, so I'm fine.
@@DainnGreywall I actually really liked WoD. BFA on the other hand, I'm having such a hard time enjoying it.
Biggest problem with Islands is the fact that it was made mandatory content to ppl who used to farm AP doing dungeons not mindless AOE
Cured my 12-year WoW addiction. Thanks BFA! YOUR HAIR LOOKS REDICULOUS ASMONGOLD!
Had Islands been focused on exploration & offered fun & challenging encounters, they'd have been a huge hit! Instead, they're a timed zerg for a meaningless grind objective & no matter the kooky loot, pets, etc. no one cares about them.
I really don't get it? I wish WISH *WISH* that Blizz would go back & alter how they play, cause it *could* be a really cool addition to the game if they would alter the focus.
great video preach
I'd be curious to understand better what potential do you see in warfronts, what direction would you like them to take and in what way this kind of pve content would be differentiated from a raid.
I've quit wow a while ago, but i'm interested as to how making people relearn to play a class they have been playing for half the expansion now will work out for them. While they try to collect your thoughts about the disaster that ended up being BFA.
warfronts are designed as a longer worldquest, similar to the insurgences. They are not designed to be a challenge, just like worldquests.
Expansion was shit canned after 2 months of release by core playerbase. Must be amazing how inactive the game is after the forum purges

I haven't done an island expedition since the opening weeks of the expansion. The only real reason to go there is the azerite power, but they're just so boring.
Warfronts are okay...? My biggest gripe about them is the 3-5 minute AFK that exists in BOTH warfronts in the final siege before the boss while the demolishers and catapults you've summoned break down a wall or destroy ballistae. The Darkshore one sort of fixes this by adding the crossbow turrets to allow players to help take the ballistae down, but there's only two of them and it still takes forever.

I couldn't even get myself to finish this video, even though I really wanted to. Can't care anymore, I'm exhausted.
Any idea of whether they will ever revert the GCD changes? I am still salty about that.
So BfA is going into beta now? Also I'm thinking of playing some version of the game on a private server, wich version is the most FUN?
I agree about the garrisons. Hopefully, down the line, Blizzard implements actual player housing or player bases/islands ect that can actually be fully customizable.
Wildstar did it wonderfully! I would love to see that system WoW.
Player Islands! :O
*Mind blown*
Imagine the possibility of me putting my forge on the left side in contrast to you putting in on the right side!
Warfront rewards high Ilvl gear? Is this on private servers because I do not think that they give anything high Ilvl.
Is it time for the WoW refugee crisis to end? Can we come home soon or is our home forever ruined by corporate America? Stay tuned!
Thomas Mortensen hey man you’re missing out it’s not ruined and dead entirely I’m still subbed and there’s AT LEAST 7 other people playing
@@omarali262 lol
I am into raiding, but not enough. I want to do some progression and then get out again, and that's just not enough reason to sub. Progression is massively and extremely frustrating at times with my guild, and it ends at the first Mythic boss, typically. It's fun enough, despite my guild not being very good overall, but yeah, it's just no reason to get back into the game if there isn't anything else to do.
you mentioned wildstar and I'm liking this video because of it
Your last point made a lot of sense.
I wasn't surprised by them just ditching garrisons, but I hoped they'd learn from it and do better with a take on guild halls.
For pretty much all of season 1 i was one of two tanks in my guild, who did regulary tank m+ (we're about 40 people and our raid tanks just do their weekly (which is fine ofc).)
Since reaping hit suddenly tank alt pop up everywere in my guild, literally half of the guild is having one.
Absolutely right here preach
I have hope for the future of BFA and WoW. I do. I have played this game since TBC, and Legion was byfar my favorite expansion in terms of fun, and that was LAST expansion. I know they can make a good game when they want too, Legion proved that to me.
The infamous participation model in order to generate the E-word: Excitement! But ever decreasingly rewarding carrot on a stick that moves further away as you become stronger. Not to mention the carrot itself has passed its expiry date.
I am sick of this roller coaster ride with Blizzard and WOW. GL to the rest of ya.
@preach your merch link is 404ing
Just let me know when the next expansion is so I can see if they fix anything before I come back
any idea when 8.2 will go live?
As good as these changes seem, and the updates that're coming might be great, however I think we're getting too little too late, it's not going to fix anything long term.
It amazes me how half baked the Azerite armor system turned out to be.
it really is amazing, just thinking about how the whole character progression devolved to this point is pretty sad.
Housing instead of the garisson would have been fine. And the house could be in your specific starting zones enviroment. Combine that with the profession system and there would be an endless farm of recipies for furnitures and things that show your achievements like statues or pictures. You could add the wardrobe in it and maybe a little garden for flowers you can give to your guild members ;)
WoW was such a nice game but now it's just a mash up of new features.
