Another one you should check out is Rosalie written about the programmer at the local radio station "THE BIG 8" CKLW in Windsor Ontario where ALL the BIG acts got their air time if they were good and a lot of them were! There is a documentary about this station where IT ruled North American airwaves in the 70's and 80's. Rosalie was the program director and she had an ear for great artists and Bob was one of them along with KISS, Alice Cooper and many of the MOTOWN greats.
He's from my home state of Michigan!!! He's the Michigan rock star I'm most proud of. Yes, Aretha Franklin and Eminem are also incredible, but when it comes to rock stars, Bob Seger does us Michiganders most proud!! Haha
A Bob Dylan quote that is apt for this video: “Some people say Bob is the poor man’s Bruce Springsteen but personality I always thought Bruce was the rich man’s Bob Seger. Love ‘em both though.” There is a lot in common between these two legendary songwriters. They both have that signature gravelly husky voice. They both depict the working class values and struggles they grew up with. Arguably the greatest backup bands of 70s rock were Bruce’s E Street Band and Bob’s Silver Bullet Band. I love em both.
Seger and Bruce are friends, and when Bruce asked Bob for help in writing a breakthrough commercial hit album that didn't sell out his values, Bob encouraged him to just be himself but ease up on trying to be this "serious artist". The creative, uninhibited juices started flowing and "Born In The USA" came forth.
Yes, he plays guitar and piano, but oftentimes is just behind the mic. He has a live version of HOLLYWOOD NIGHTS, in San Diego, 1978 that’s awesome. Other great songs: SUN SPOT BABY, GET OUT OF DENVER, FIRE DOWN BELOW, STILL THE SAME, OLD TIME ROCK AND ROLL, AGAINST THE WIND, NIGHT MOVES, just to name a few. This is a rabbit hole you gotta grow down. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
Bob Seger is from Ann Arbor, Michigan, about 40 miles west of Detroit. Graduated from my high school. Started out as a popular regional star in the Midwest with hits like “Heavy Music”, and “Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man”. Forming the Silver Bullet Band in 1973, he broke out nationally with the album Live Bullet (1976), recorded live with the Silver Bullet Band in 1975 at Cobo Hall in Detroit. I saw him three times. The first time, in 1970, he did an all acoustic show at Hill Auditorium on the University of Michigan campus. The first half was performed on a grand piano, the second on acoustic guitar. Next was a concert in the early 1980’s at an outdoor venue that was then called Pine Knob Music Theater, well outside of Detroit in suburban Clarkston Township. Finally, I saw him perform at the MGM Grand on the Strip in Las Vegas. All were great shows (he doesn’t do anything less), but his performance in the small venue of the acoustically perfect Hill Auditorium is my special favorite, having occurred well before he broke out nationally. Further down the comment thread are listed some of Seger’s greatest music. Explore his catalogue. It will be time well spent. Enjoy! Forgot something! The song is actually about Ann Arbor’s Main Street. Back in 1967 or so, some enterprising business man found a loophole in the city zoning laws and opened a small club downtown that featured “exotic dancers”. A large segment of the town was outraged and demanded its closure. It took some time to do so. While it was open, it was there that Bob encountered his “young and sweet” dancer. The pool halls were located close by on Ann Street. Clint’s Club was one of them. For a small college town, the block long area was considered fairly seedy. It was the area for those “hustlers and losers” he wrote about. Hope you find the local history and background info for the song of interest.
“Roll Me Away” is great, as is “Nutbush City Limits”, which Tina Turner also did. I’ve seen Seger twice in concert-he is still fantastic live and is retiring after this current tour. Check out “Fire Down Below” as well-and if you want a great CD check out his greatest hits CD. You will be surprised at how many you know!
Bob Seger also plays the piano in all of his music. He is so talented. What a storyteller! He used to hang out with Jackson Browne and the songwriters from "The Eagles", Glen Fry, J.D Souther and Don Henley. Imagine being a part of that group. Some of the greatest musical Storytellers of our time.
Bob Seger was a staple of mine growing up, didn't go a day without listening to at least one or two of his songs. "Night Moves", "Turn The Page", "Old Time Rock and Roll"
Man ,I'm 62 have been a big ,big fan of Mr Bob Seger for yonks ,but I still get goosebumps when I hear his music and this one in particular - Main Street ! When he tells one of his stories in song ... I'm there with him . I can visualise the scenes automatically ....with clarity . Loving discovering your channel and may I recommend the music for it from The Last Waltz ...The Band's swansong with the cream of the Rock world on stage with them to say goodbye . Now yer talkin' ! Best wishes from Scotland .
Bob was a star in the 1970s, and into the mid 80s. He like most Bands and artists played small bars and clubs before they were discovered. This is true with Bob Segar as well. He started out in the late 60s, and it took a few years, but boy did he ever make it to the Big time! Great singer, great guy. He's the average man's hero.
I have seen Bob Seger several times in concert, never been disappointed. Try"night moves","fire lake","against the wind","sunspot baby","Hollywood nights", and my personal favorite"turn the page"☮️
Ohh you've opened up a wormhole now,Bob seger is one of the greatest songwriters and singers of the 20th century..against the wind ..is a must listen and night moves
I remember hearing this in I think it was the fall of 1976, and this tune and "Night Moves" turned me on to Bob Seger. I had heard old Bob Seger tunes "Katmandu" and "Get Out Of Denver", which are almost tribute to Chuck Berry, but these were different, not as rocking, but the were real and tugged at you.
Have to love that 14th-17th fret e-string lead guitar part... and that full step bend of the B-string on the 17th fret... like silk n cream! Iconic riff! :)
Bob Seger has many autobiographical songs: “Night Moves”, “Turn the Page” “Main Street”, among others. A tremendous singer/songwriter! PLAY “Turn the Page”!! He’s amazing!
it was released in 1976, Check out Bob Seger Live Bullet also released April 1976, ( Traveling Man/Beautiful Loser, you'll be glad you did 😉 the song 🏃♀️ into Beautiful Loser just let it play...
One (out of many) of his best. In my nearly 60 years of listening to Rock-n-Roll music, there are very few bands/performers that, in my opinion, have never put out a bad song. The Warning is one example, and Bob Seger is another. If you've never heard him...his album "Night Moves" would be a great place to start.
I agree. The rhythm section who played with Bob on this at Muscle Shoals had a lot to do with this songs success as well as "Bob's "Old Time Rock and Roll" and so many other hits. When you look at a list of the songs they played on it just blows your mind. They played with so much soul on records like "Mustang Sally" by Wilson Picket, "Respect" by Aretha Franklin, and "When a Man Loves a Woman" by Percy Sledge, that other artists were often shocked to find out they were four white guys. If you haven't seen the "Muscle Shoals" documentary it is outstanding and I highly recommend it.
Saw Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band back in the early 80's .... Great concert they played for hrs 😎🎸 He had plenty of mega hits back in the 70's - 80's ! Check out..... Ramblin' Gambling Man ( my favorite ) (A young Glenn Frye singing back-up) Travelin Man / Beautiful Loser Still The Same Her Strut Night Moves Fire Down Below Turn The Page Hollywood Nights Old Time Rock-n-Roll Against The Wind Turn The Page Roll Me Away Like A Rock We've Got Tonight & on & on.....etc. You don't realize just how amazing he is until you start piling a list with hit after hit after hit ! 😉 A very talented & gifted musician/songwriter 😎🎙
The late Great Pete Carr making history with his guitar and the musical genius of Barry Becket on piano and the Hamond B3 organ among other things. Rest in peace, Barry. The name of the Band was The Swampers. Seger first hooked up with the Swampers out of Sheffield Alabama in 1971 and that began an incredible 10 year run of some of the greatest music ever made!
@Megan...... same here ! Waaaaay back in the early 80's saw Bob & The Silver Bullet Band.... the best concert ever ! They just kept on playing & playing.... what a sweet unforgettable night ✌😎
He is so awesome. Glad you enjoyed it. But, my favorite by him is “Night Moves”. Makes me ready for warmer weather and BBQ’s now. Around my part of the USA, Bob Seger is one of the definite artists you are going to hear BLASTING at the get together.
I remember hearing a story of him starting out and being with Glen Frey of the Eagles and Linda Ronstadt in clubs out west, and Glen Frey picked Bob Seger’s brain about songwriting.Bob told him some great advice, according to Glen Frey, when he said” You will write some terrible songs, good songs, and great songs, but just keep on writing them.” They all 3 “ done good.”70’s and still around....till recently. He had a greatest hits album with 23 songs on it,and I could think of 7-8 more that could have made it.
Yes. Voice, storytelling, emotion - just a great rock n roll talent. His music and style always feels so familiar and comfortable. definitely a "blue collar" rocker.
Simply a genius who has lived and lived and lived. And, yes, please do Turn the Page. A consummate storyteller, it's as if he's taken the heart of America and put it to music.
Lady's and gentlemen, Mr Pete Carr on guitar, David Hood on bass, Barry Beckett on piano and organ and Roger Hawkins on Drums and Jimmy Johnson on rhythm guitar....The Muscle Shoals Swampers. Rest in peace Jimmy and Barry. We miss you.
So glad you have finally heard Bob Seger! He and Elvis are my favorite of all time! I’ve been listening to him since 1975 at the age of 12. He has influenced so many artists Garth Brooks and Jason Alderney to name a couple. The songs I highly recommend is from Live Bullet Travelin Man/Beautiful Loser. It must be from this album and together. It has one of my favorite intros into Beautiful Loser! You will love it
Ah, love Bob Seger! My husband and I just saw him back in October. I wondered how good he would still be, but he surprised us. We really enjoyed the concert. He was awesome!! He probably wasn’t as good as he was in his prime, but he was in a great mood, and put on a good show! His voice still sounds pretty good! The United States has many, many cities throughout the country name “Main Street”. It’s very popular. ☺️ Loved your reaction! Please react to more Bob Seger!!!
You've probably heard him without realizing it-- songs of his crop up in movie and TV shows. Against The Wind was in Forrest Gump, Feel Like a Number was in Body Heat, Old Time Rock and Roll went viral after Risky Business, and like half a dozen of his songs show up in Supernatural. This specific track is about a girl working in a pool hall in Ann Arbor.
One of the best concerts I've ever been to and I went to A LOT in the 80s,lol.So happy someone is finally reacting to him! Thank you for that!❤🎶 He is Awesome!!
Where does one start with Bob Seger ? Try 2+2 =? The Fire Down Below Her Strut Night Moves Fire Lake Shakedown Rock and Roll Never Forgets Turn the Page,Katmandu,,Against the Wind, Weve got Tonight,Old time Rock n Roll , Feel like a number , Like a Rock , Still the Same , Even Now .... I mean I could go on lol 😆
Travelin Man/Beautiful Loser from "Live Bullet" album. Mate, this will Impress you. It's a big rock radio hit for over 40 years still today. Great jam, great soul, great vibes. Heard it a thousand times or more and it still gives me tingles at some points. THANX for exploring the world of Seger!
You have to have heard the classic: "Old Time Rock and Roll"? It's the song Tom Cruise dances to in the famous scene from the movie "Risky Business". And YES - He is terrific Live! Whole Live Album filled with gems is "Live Bullett". A must is "Turn the Page" as another mentioned.
Another song to just close your eyes and go back in time….I did not know this was your first reaction to Bob,and it has been fun going backward watching your reactions to him.
Bob Seger was awesome.....if my memory is correct, and if I'm not having another "senior moment"...Bob was from Detroit, home of some great music long before Eminem, and he recorded in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.....a recording studio that did so many greats...one of my favorites, Aretha Franklin recorded some of her greatest music there....thanks for this!!!
I mean it's hard to go wrong with any of his songs, Bob Seger now has his own channel here on UA-cam with all of his songs and this song was about a street called Arbor Street in Ann Arbor Michigan where Bob Seger is from.
You won't be disappointed listening to any of his songs. Back when he was probably most well known for Old Time Rock and Roll. Below others have made many good suggestions. Cheers, Steve
Listen to his live album Live Bullet ~ That's when my love affair with Seger started when I was only 13/14 ~ I continue to be a huge Seger fan to this day ~ It also made me go back to the beginning of his vault ~ Check out East Side Story, Ramblin' Gamblin' Man, Get Out Of Denver and more!!!
Seger and Springsteen have a very similar Midwestern type sound. Night Moves, old time rock and roll, against the wind are just a handful of my favorites. A great rabbit hole to go down.
He's amazing and has so many incredible songs. Against the wind, come to poppa, turn the page, Hollywood nights just to name a few of the top of my head. Seeing him in concert was at the top of my bucket list since I was fifteen years old and I finally got to and it was one of the best nights of my life!! I'm so excited I can't breathe...lol. I'll link a couple of videos. Turn the page ua-cam.com/video/3khH9ih2XJg/v-deo.html Against the wind ua-cam.com/video/2vRsEC65NTA/v-deo.html
Night Moves and Turn the Page are must-listens. Old Time Rock and Roll is one you've almost certainly heard. Like a Rock is also classic Seger. He's still around, but his biggest success was in the 70s and 80s. Springsteen is a fair comparison, Seger was another compassionate observer of ordinary life in America.
Excellent reaction to Bob seger who can't love this man it's got the voice that speaks to everyone. Also like the flag in the background. I lived in a land that was the exact opposite of your flag can you figure that one out it's even the same name as yours
Kid Rock gave the speech inducting Bob into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Both Detroit boys.
Bob Seger is one of the best story tellers...... .
The line “trying to get my courage up” I think relates to every guy growing up
Bob Seger has never had a bad song, some are just better than others.
Bob Seger brings back memories of the past

Wonderful. Night moves. A great song as well. Yes. Seventies and eighties. Quite a career. Just a good old boy.

I can’t believe no one has mentioned “Roll me away”. Any song by Seger is great!
I would always listen to this when I had a tough day at work. I thought many times I should just keep on driving!
At the end of the movie Mask.....the best....
Yep, my favorite Seger song by far.

First song I ever heard by him and it stopped me dead in my tracks. Loved his music ever since.

ABSOLUTELY. He performed that at his induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. People were CRYING.
Yep, Turn the Page is Bob's signature song!
Please turn the page, Traveling man, Beautiful Loser
One (out of many) of his best. In my nearly 60 years of listening to Rock-n-Roll music, there are very few bands/performers that, in my opinion, have never put out a bad song. Bob Seger was mandatory listening in every strip club across America in the late 70s early 80s. "Watch Her Strut" was a favorite of all the dancers.
My fav for almost 45 years. Please try Famous Final Scene or Brave Strangers...
One of my all time favorite songs.
Great song by Bob Seger! He has a great voice!

Another great one recorded in Muscle Shoals with the Swampers as his band
Old time Rock and Roll, a must
Bob Seger had a lot of hits, but I think this is my favorite of his. Just a really pretty melody, beautiful vocal and sweet guitar riff.
Yo he said
In my town we actually use to have a street called main street. Very technical.
🤣😂👍🏻
Love, love Bob Seger
So glad you have finally heard Bob Seger! He and Elvis are my favorite of all time! I’ve been listening to him since 1975 at the age of 12. He has influenced so many artists Garth Brooks and Jason Alderney to name a couple.

Automatic thumbs up for this! Thx for doing Bob Seger!
He is so good. Saw him years ago. He was fantastic! Love this one.
I mean it's hard to go wrong with any of his songs, Bob Seger now has his own channel here on UA-cam with all of his songs and this song was about a street called Arbor Street in Ann Arbor Michigan where Bob Seger is from.
Holly wood night's their is a video I wore out 8track tapes of Bob in the 77 (live bullet) great CD !!!!!!!!
You won't be disappointed listening to any of his songs. Back when he was probably most well known for Old Time Rock and Roll. Below others have made many good suggestions. Cheers, Steve
American folk rock. I know ..We all have great ballads from around the world, but this one...
A timeless gem.
Kelly Craig-Slogar don’t forget heavy music
@@flash1660 Heavy Music is an AWESOME jam!!! That's one of the "and more" ones!!!
I like your true reactions, Chief. Good job. Representing Georgia, USA here.
Bob is a legend. Check out Travelin man/ Beautiful loser from Live Bullet Album.
Seger and Springsteen have a very similar Midwestern type sound. Night Moves, old time rock and roll, against the wind are just a handful of my favorites. A great rabbit hole to go down.
That whole album is awesome. Feel like a number is one of my favorites.
Great voice, great sound, great song!
Check out more of Bob Defer, he has a deep catalog of great songs.
Want more Bob try "night moves"or"against the wind" ✌❤
He's amazing and has so many incredible songs. Against the wind, come to poppa, turn the page, Hollywood nights just to name a few of the top of my head. Seeing him in concert was at the top of my bucket list since I was fifteen years old and I finally got to and it was one of the best nights of my life!! I'm so excited I can't breathe...lol. I'll link a couple of videos.

Love Bob Seger -- you're straight on with his storytelling ability. Oh look...a dog!
Real cruising music 🖐😀 main street, turn the page etc. Live concerts like other bands of that era. Just brilliant pat.
That is Main Street, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Home of the University of Michigan. Bob's hometown.
Great Song
Night Moves and Turn the Page are must-listens. Old Time Rock and Roll is one you've almost certainly heard. Like a Rock is also classic Seger. He's still around, but his biggest success was in the 70s and 80s. Springsteen is a fair comparison, Seger was another compassionate observer of ordinary life in America.
That man can tell a story!
Never disappoints.
Went to 2 concerts in my life, Bob Seger and meatloaf. My personal favorite Bob Seger song is "Turn the page".☺ enjoy
Against the Wind...that's a good one
Seen him in concert in Cincinnati 1996😎🇺🇸
I can hear the swampers in this one! ✌️💜🎶
Excellent reaction to Bob seger who can't love this man it's got the voice that speaks to everyone. Also like the flag in the background. I lived in a land that was the exact opposite of your flag can you figure that one out it's even the same name as yours
