  • Here are my thoughts on the Norton Commando 961SP. Thanks to P&H Motorcycles in Crawley for letting me out on their bike and the motorcycle team at Brooklands Museum in Weybridge for letting me onto their historic banking.
**I know the sound isn’t great and the picture is cropped too much! Hold with me, I’m no pro and I’m learning!**

The more people that review the bike the better. Whether it’s for you or me is another thing. Good effort 👍

I enjoyed it… no it’s not the most powerful or dynamic handling but that’s missing the point of it… it’s a real ‘feel special’ bike aside from a couple of minor gripes

Should be at least 50 kilos lighter. Gez the last Squarial (the Healy 1000/4) was just 161 kilos, while the last traditional Bonnies in in the mid 80’s were way under the weight of modern ones too. With all the modern lightweight materials like carbon fibre, maraging Inox, 6-4 Ti & modern forged alloys (all available today at much lower prices in a relative sense) there’s no reason for modern bikes weighing so much more than there traditional equilivents.

Ohlins and Brembo components can't hide the fact that its driven by a push-rod 77-bph 5-speed air-cooled engine. Looks purty though

Thing is, I can’t quite put my finger on it, the bike is not the fastest or most dynamic but it has a certain feel good factor to it. Just ride it and enjoy the laid back nature and smooth delivery. Personally, I’d like a bit more time to gel fully with it and give a fuller opinion instead of just spending the day on it… at the moment, no it’s not perfect but it just has a certain something to it.

Need to up your game. Crap visuals, bad sound and the pictures cropped down. 2 out of 10.

Thanks for the critique Mr Spielberg, but I’m not a professional and using very basic kit lol

@@sanchoantoniomotoaddictmot2069 Seems a waste to go through all the effort to organise a bike and venue and be let down by your equipment which you know is not up to the job. Constructive criticism really 👍

I know buddy, my answer was tongue in cheek… truth be told, I know it’s a bit pants, but I’m learning… just need some better software to edit with and some microphones maybe… it’ll get there! Hang in there with me and hopefully you will see improvements as I learn! My written articles are a bit clearer in MotoGusto magazine though, it’s a quarterly free mag down in the SE / London distributed at bike shops / cafes etc (or if you’re feeling flush, a £10 subscription gets it delivered to your door)… give me a follow and I promise, I’ll be trying to improve (the day job gets in the way a bit though) 👍🏻
