I felt so bad for them while watching this, the sound techs should have been FIRED! Here these babies are singing their hearts out and this crap happens. It really speaks to their professionalism how they kept on going and didn’t even look upset. They are just as cool as they can be! The mics probably didn’t even work, that looks like the 1968/69 model that ELVIS used in Las Vegas.

And then he didn't know which volume knob controlled each mic because he probably just plopped the stands on stage and walked away.
This looks like the set of the Phil Donahue show. This man always had amazing content with his guests and the Donahue show archives are absolute treasures. And of course New Edition had that magic back then. The girls in the audience and their moms are just mesmerized.
Poor babies, but they kept it going and professional. I did notice that they look like they came straight from the beauty shop getting those juices done. Their hair looks great for those who knows about those styles in the 80s.
