- ROAD RAGE in Karting. Adrenaline levels are always high in racing environment- especially in people who aren't used to it. Sometimes that means emotions run high? I'm honestly not sure what happened between those two drivers before I got there, but is this a justified response?

One thing I learned is that everyone isn't on the same rulebook. For example, I went karting with some F1 and NASCAR fans, (im a imsa/indy fan) and the overtaking was horrible, so many spins and crashes everywhere. After the race we argue about everything. Later we agreed to play on F1 rules and the racing was much better. This may be the same case here

I take it pretty serious and when it happens I just kinda lazily throw a hand up just as a “cmon man” type gesture. Never anger backed with some insults though. There’s kids out there sometimes.
i only raged in go karting a bit because i was coming really fast and then the slow car completely blocked me in the very last second on the straight and i locked up then caught up to them and i gestured “r u crazy”

I used to work as a Race Director for the company that runs this track. It's Daytona Sandown Park in Surrey, England. I worked there a lot to help out and run busy events but mainly ran their Milton Keynes track. It is impossible (from the footage) to know why the driver gave the bird to the other as you only show 2 corners and it could have been because of something from laps ago... It could also be 2 mates having a laugh as these venues make most of their money from public, arrive & drive races although they do run some very competitive championships for more experienced racers.
Oh it could also have been some big ego, small talent dumb c*nt just throwing his toys out the pram..

I remember me and my buddies use to flip each other on the road when leaving from work. Other drivers starts keeping their distance and probably thinking that we are having a road rage. 😂

@@omletow6967 no, that's not how it works at ALL in road/circuit/kart racing. It is the chase car's responsibility to find an opening and know when to overtake when the opportunity presents itself. The chase car was all over the place and being impatient, and never presented to overtake (which means the front tires of the chase car are about midship of the lead car). Also, unless there's a big enough gap, it's not wise to overtake inside the braking zone or a turn.
As a general rule of thumb, "don't hit what you CAN see". If you're trying to stick your nose into a perceived corner 'opening' and aren't already side-by-side going into the turn, don't be surprised when the door gets slammed shut.

Bru i had exactly the same thing i was just driving around and a stupid guy just gave me the bird for absolutely nothing it happened 1 week before i now have seen this video so people be nice on track and sometimes watch out for others trough looking where your opponent is and not just turn in like no one is there✌🏼

dude was being impatient and tried overtaking where there was no room to overtake. you should damn near be door to door with another car when entering the braking zone if you're going to overtake (which is called 'presenting'). If you don't present before the braking zone and/or initial turn-in, theres NO way the lead vehicle is going to see the other vehicle behind them.

The "rage" guy did not have the line. He made a late dive bomb move and wasn't halfway up before the turn. The line was to the guy on the outside.
That guy literally raged over a tap while me who raced in karting and went airborn for some seconds didn't even "rage"
Yeah, ex racer here also, thought it was quite polite. Didn’t hold him up too much, held the one line, wasn’t crazy defence or anything. Guaranteed if he gave me the bird after that I would have shown him what a pass that would have upset him.

@@carkid23 of course if you get hit in the wrong spot you absolutely can, I ended up with my kart on the side against the barrier keep in mind 100 km/h is pretty fast for karts

The guy holding up traffic was a lapped driver and he would not get out of the way, thus the road rage.

He had PLENTY of room on the inside when they moved over. He was too tunnel visioned to notice or adjust. Not that he needed to I never saw anyone hit. A scrape is not a hit.
There was no gap, only a 'vortex of danger' from being impatient and waiting for the right moment to overtake properly.

First of all, as a marshal, an incident cannot be judged on a single video recording.
Incidents are always reviewed with several external cameras, with the cockpit cameras and the inputs from the vehicles involved.
However, I will give my opinion based on that video recording.
The green car, which is ahead, gives space to the red car. Just before the moment of impact, the green car opens its line a little. But even so, the red car has enough space on the outside of the corner. At first, it seems that the green car shouldn't open his line and red car should have avoided the impact.
However, it would be necessary to have more data, access to more cameras and to the inputs of both drivers.

Short answer no. Was the guy in front slow, yes. Was he lapping? Was he overtaking… context is important.
