- On May 2, 2009, a 30-year old Manny Pacquiao (48-3-2, 36 KO) faced British boxer Ricky Hatton, who was 30 years old with a record of 45-1 for Hatton's Ring Magazine super-lightweight title. Hatton was on a two-fight win streak with 32 KO wins, and was the taller of the two by 2 cms but Pacquiao had a 5 cm reach advantage over Hatton.
Pacquiao defeated Hatton via 2nd round KO to win the Ring Magazine super-lightweight title. He is now on a 10-fight winning streak, with three back-to-back KO wins.

Legend has it that Freddie, upon seeing what a mismatch the fight was, told Pacquiao to knock Cotto out and make it a short night. But Manny, out of respect for Cotto's legacy, refused to do so. Better to put on a good show and show respect to a once great boxer. What a classy guy.

Pacquiao is relentless in his attacks from round one to the twelfth round, with fast blinding speeds. No wonder Barrera who himself was a champion couldn't match the pace of Manny Pacquiao. As for Floyd Mayweather Jr, I wonder whether he ever fought Barrerra. And if so, whether with the same authority and superiority as Manny Pacquiao Pacquiao.
First knockdown didn’t hurt cotto. Second knockdown almost got him out of there. Cotto wanted to quit but he had recently quit vs margarito so he seemed like his pride wouldn’t let him quit
As hard as Manny hit, his punches aren't as damaging as anyone else that uses loaded gloves. Margarito the cheater didn't hit hard when he actually fought within the rules, but look at how badly Cotto's face was damaged when getting hit by the cheater's loaded gloves in their first fight. When Cotto went down the look on his face was like WTF. I'm just glad Cotto got his revenge against the cheater, and went on to have big money fights against Manny and Floyd. It was also great when Manny and Shane beat the cheater up.

Prime pacman was a sight to behold. He could have easily been a 130 or 135lb fighter, had the size advantage and never lost a fight. But that wasn't his style, plus lightweught around 2009 was a deadweight. No real legends about. So he went after the big men, in both size and name, he went to war with everyone. I always watched his fights. A true legend. Was it 8 divisions he had belts in? Crazy. One of the things I wish most in boxing is that we got prime pacman vs prime mayweather. What a fight that would have been. I honeslty think with his work rate he could have won. That's why he was so heavily ducked by Mr money.

If you watch the video again (watch the full fight) Miguel Cotto started dancing away from Pacquiao from the seventh round onwards though he mounted some counter attacks. The online scorings showed Cotto won only two rounds. Can it be called even? He had to win at least 6 rounds.

how can you call that early stoppage when pac beat him from rounds four to 12. The fight wasnt competetive any more and cotto was way behind the scorecards. That is one thing reeferees consider not letting a fighter getting more unncessary damage.
