Automatic Frog Fountain - Minecraft Tutorial
Вставка
- Опубліковано 12 січ 2021
- Hey everyone, welcome to another tutorial video! Here's a quick redstone build that you can use to decorate a pond or lake in your world. It's based on a build originally made by u/GeometricJellyfish on Reddit. Please let me know if you have any suggestions for the next video and feel free to like and subscribe if you want to see more.
Edit: Hey guys, a couple things: this was originally built in Java, so if you’re making it on Bedrock then you’ll have to toggle the comparator. Also the bucket toggles once before sunrise and another time at sunset. If you place the bucket at night, the fountain will work during the day and turn off at night.
As always, leave a suggestion and I'll try to build it next!

Resources needed for this build:
30 blackstone
16 blackstone stairs
22 stone
12 stone stairs
4 stone slabs
6 andesite
7 andesite stairs
2 andesite slabs
2 polished andesite
1 dispenser
2 daylight detectors
2 redstone comparators
2 observers
1 water bucket (place it in the dispenser)
3 redstone torches
Resource packs:
Jerm's Better Leaves Add-on
Enhanced Biome: River & Pond
Music:
Lakey Inspired - Blue Boi - Ігри
For everyone who is struggling with the red stone you need to press on the comparator so the single torch stays lit.
Like so others can see
Are you on Bedrock? I forgot there are some differences but I'm pretty sure I didn't need to do that on Java.
@@BitGardener yes I am. The red stone worked fine for me, but it took a little bit of tinkering to realize that you had to click the comparator. Keep up the great work though I love how the frog looks in my garden!
stay lit ⚠️⚠️🏗🏗🏗🤯🤯🤯🤯
On both comparators the single torch should stay lit??

A moment of appreciation for people who include both the block list and count in their tutorials
Hey ur amazing i hope u know God loves u (if ur not a believer sorry if that statement made u upset) ur all beautiful and amazing have a blessed day.....
And for those used stacks instead of
Numbers over a Stack like 64 and 24 instead of 88 because you dont need to wasted Time counting
I would also like someone who speaks.
Yessss those ppl are amazing!
Its amazing when its the proper amount, blackstone was incorrect
Materials:
Blackstone: 30 blocks or more if needed
Blackstone stairs: 16 or more if needed
Stone: 22 blocks or more
Stone stairs: 12 blocks
Stone slab: 4 blocks
Smooth stone: 2 block
Dispenser: 1
Daylight sensor: 2
Redstone Comparator: 2
Observer: 2
Bucket of water: 1
Redstone torch: 3
For this explanation I will use emojis to represent blocks. Here is the key:
Blackstone: ▪️
Blackstone stairs: 🔹
Stone blocks: ▫️
Stone stairs: 🔸
Redstone torch: 🔺
Dispenser: 🔘
Daylight sensor: 🔳
Observer: 🔴
Build a five by five platform with the blackstone. You only need it to be one block high. Pick which side you want to be the back. Fill the platform in, leaving the middle block of the back open. Like this:
▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️
▪️▪️ ▪️▪️
▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️
▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️
▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️
Next, with your blackstone build in one block and copy the shape of the first layer, leaving room for the hole from the first layer, like this:
▪️ ▪️
▪️▪️▪️
▪️▪️▪️
On the same layer, add blackstone stairs to the edges to create a ledge. Do this by getting into the water and aiming your mouse/cursor at the top portion of the side of the block you are putting the stair on. Line the inner second layer like this. To place a stair around the hole, place a temporary block, add the stairs, and then remove the placeholder.
🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹
🔹 🔹
🔹 🔹
🔹 🔹
🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹
On the backside (the side with the hole) use stone block to create the base of the frog. The first line is the middle three blocks (leave one block of blackstone uncovered on each end). For the second line, it is a full five blocks all the way across. The third line is only two blocks, with one block distance in between. It should look like this:
▫️▫️▫️
▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️
▫️ ▫️
Begin the next stone layer. The first line is the same three blocks. The second line leaves a hole in the middle block (we will place the redstone torch here soon).
▫️▫️▫️
▫️▫️ ▫️▫️
For the third layer, add one stone block to the middle of the first line. For the second line, one stone block is added to each side of the hole in the previous layer. Like this:
▫️
▫️ ▫️
Next use stone stairs to create the feet. This will be on the same layer and the stone blocks. Add them to the front of the two blocks in line three. Then, add the stairs to the two exposed end blocks in line two. Like this:
▫️▫️▫️
▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️
🔸▫️ ▫️🔸
🔸 🔸
Go up to the second layer and add stairs to the front of the two columns surrounding the hole for redstone, like this:
▫️▫️▫️
▫️▫️ ▫️▫️
🔸🔸🔸
Now we begin the redstone. It may seem complicated or confusing, but I found it to actually be fairly simple in design. It took a few tries to figure out what this user was placing down.
In the hole we left in the second and third layers of stone, place a redstone torch. It has to be on the floor, not on the side of a block.
▫️▫️▫️
▫️▫️🔺▫️▫️
On the third layer in the hole above the redstone torch, place a dispenser.
▫️
▫️🔘▫️
Click on the dispenser to user it. This is the same control as opening a chest. Place a bucket of water anywhere in the grid and close the dispenser.
Now we add two block of smooth stone to be the frogs eyes. Go up one more layer and place them on either side of the dispenser. (Not in front of the dispenser.)
On top of the stair ledge we place in layer three, add three more stair blocks. The two on the ends will face inwards, while the middle block will be flat against the dispenser.
Create a "lid" over this divot with 3 stone slabs. This creates the frogs mouth, where the water will flow from.
Add one more stone slab in between the smooth stone blocks (on top of the dispenser.).
Now you can add some texture to the statue if you would like. The op uses andesite, but I used mossy cobblestone. It's up to you!
Go to the back of the statue. Locate the middle block in the blackstone platform. Build a blockade around it so water does not flow in. Break the middle block and dig down so you see either dirt, sand, or stone (whatever was underneath the platform. You should see the two block of blackstone, and then one block of the ground. This is the correct depth.
Now, hollow out the platform. Do not break the block that is eye level. If water flows in, replace the block to stop it.
Once you have hollowed out the platform, return to the back where your hole has been made. On the end pieces of the platform, dig one block deep. Place a daylight sensor. Then, at the same level, dig one block under the platform. Water will flow into the hole, but don't panic! Place a comparator. The water will stop. Repeat this on the other end.
▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️
▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️
▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️
▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️
▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️< - comparator here
🔳 🔳
Go back inside the platform. Crouch and face the comparator. Place an observer. It is facing the correct way if you see a red dot. Turn around and do this for the other side.
▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️
▪️ ▪️
▪️ ▪️
▪️ 🔴 🔴▪️
▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️
🔳 🔳
Exit the hole and place a stone block in between the observers.
▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️
▪️ ▪️
▪️ ▪️
▪️🔴 ▫️🔴▪️
▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️
🔳 🔳
Place a redstone torch on the inner side of the stone. Do this by standing on to of the stone (facing in), crouch and turn so you are now facing outwards, but you can see the inside of the block. Place the torch.
Exit the platform and place a stone block up one layer from the one you just place. It will be in front of it, but not on top of it. Like this:
▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️
▪️ ▪️
▪️ ▫️ ▪️
▪️ 🔴▫️🔴▪️
▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️
🔳 🔳
The two stone blocks are on separate layers.
Place a redstone torch on top of this second block. It should click and turn out . If it does, you've done it correctly!!
Close up the hole in the platform you dug and destroy your barricade. If you've done it correctly, your fountain should be flowing! Congrats!

my frog (who’s name was le frogge) died a few months ago and to commemorate his life i made a huge fountain in my minecraft world with a sign that read: “In honor of Le frogge, gone but never forgotten”

if anyones still having trouble with this, the reason is because the redstone simply doesn't work - at all, at least on java edition. the reason is that the observers don't do anything to the redstone torches. you can test this on creative yourself - place an observer down, and put a block behind it with a torch on top. you'll see that no matter how many times you put something in front of the observer's face, it won't affect the torch whatsoever.
to fix you can make the same build (detector + comparator + observer) one block over, and then with the extra room place a redstone /repeater/ on two redstone ticks delay between the observer and stone block to fix the problem. however if youre doing this specific build in a pond, doing this might expose your redstone comparator to water. also, you only need one daylight detector - the other one doesnt.... add any functionality whatsoever.
There is an observer? Lol
I only saw the dispenser. I don't understand redstone lol
@@LunaWitcherArt watch the full video he put an observer
for those struggling with the automated part the water blocks the daylight sensor so it doesn't react to day or night so I'd recommend a glass over them
I am so happy!
When I saw this while looking for fountain tutorials I was like, "Awww! I want a froggy fountain" and now that I finished it I am even happier!

Awesome tutorial!! Thank you!! I’m over the moon about how cute it is!!
Cool build, perfect for adding some depth to your worlds.
I built mine with copper, and used blocks of quartz and two Blackstone buttons for the eyes, looks good!
I just happened upon this tutorial and I love it! The froggy fountain is adorable and I now need to work it into my build
thanks for sharing the design! I made it in my mountain base, but instead of the fountain activating at daytime, I set up a tripwire so that it would turn on when I enter the room and off when I leave. this is purely to try and prevent my tropical fish from beaching themselves when I’m not there to save them.
I actually asked for a tutorial for this on Instagram, and now it’s here! Very epic, built it on me and my friends survival world.
Excellent content, I'd definitely love to make these in my own worlds, I also love how you decorate the surrounding area aheas of time to make the build 'at home'.
Ty!!! This build is so cute and I appreciate the video being short bc I have the attention span of a goldfish 💀 I built this in my town on a Minecraft server and it fits in with the vibe of the town so well :)
Just built this in my survival world, thank you for sharing this cute build!
This was absolutely...

This is absolutely beautiful 😍. Once 1.19 comes out for java, I'm making a mini version of this in my house. Love thos froggos

I really love your idea to build a frog fountain ! However I didn't manage to create the redstone system but I realized that it wasn't adapted to what I wanted so I just put a blackstone button behind the statue so I'm able to activate or not the fountain everytime ^^

omg yes this is going in my garden for sure next to the Italian cottage 🤩

i didn't undersandd the redstone stuff, i guess my fountain won't be automatic :(
