I haven't played it, but I'm very happy it came to Xbox as well.
Interesting how many of the recent games I have been excited for are indie games.
    Anno mutationem, Signalis, the dredge

I just streamed an entire playt-hrough, finishing the last session about an hour ago at the time of writing (October 10th 2022), and I gotta say that the game took me completely by surprise. Loved the graphics, enjoyed the story up until a point where I completely lost the plot and I also thought Ayane was less annoying overall than I initially suspected. Ayane's worst moments are generally early on and towards the very end. I should probably add that I am generally not enjoying side-scrollers but I think this one was pretty good.
I'd say about 50% of the boss fights were fun, 25% of them were okay and the last 25% was gimmicky, multi-phased and boring. Obviously a personal opinion and not metrics to go by as a general. I liked the fights where the boss had a moveset you could pick up on and punish. So the 25% that was kinda meh was generally the fights where the boss were either too easy or moving around too much to make the fight interesting. The last 25% was multi-phase bosses which generally broke the fights up with silly, gimmicky, avoidance phases and I just hate those regardless of games.
I overall liked the cutscenes but they were very long towards the end, which made me incredibly impatient. It would've been nice if they revealed the plot in smaller dozes in the latter stages rather than having long cutscene upon long cutscene with little or no gameplay between them. I also got tired of reading the walls of text on pads and computers towards the end, which was probably why I lost the finer details of the plot early on in the research facility.
I'd rate this game 8/10 and it has HUGE potential for improvement both sideways and upwards. I've never played anything like it before, but I'd love more of the same with or without improvement tbh.
EDIT: You might say it's contradicting to say 8/10 with huge potential for improvement, but in regards to expectations, price and overall quality I think 8 is fair. I've also never given 10/10 to any game, and this formula with some improvement has that potential in my honest opinion.

The world-building is the game's by far strongest point. Direct sequels aside, many different stories could take place in the game's world and pan out pretty well too. Despite the accessible parts of its world being small, the game excellently conveys just how huge Noctis and Skopp are. There's room for at least a dozen different stories in addition to the material about the already introduced characters. Here's hoping that the studio behind this game gives players more set in the world Anno: Mutationem was built into.

How did you prepare and defeat Mother Grub?
the small gubs are annoying asF. i have to evade, attack, kill small grub at the same time, i'm too busy to even attack the boss! the power generator always get destroyed.
