I imagine so, I’m sure he had backups. I used to write for PGS/Tone Report Weekly and as such had so many pedals come my way. I let Geordie borrow the Keeley ADT but I don’t think he ever would be peeled away from the big analog bad boys. He used to ask me to get an engineer to build some for him and a few expressed interest but it never came to be. The original designer of these is still around though and I saw him on a forum contemplating making new ones. I suppose that ship has sailed though.
@@FletcherFathoms ok thats cool. I actually tried to find some schematics on line a while ago for an ADT as i had an idea of making 1 and sending it to Geordie, but...... I'm not a master of electronics just a bit of a hobbyist, it would have been amazing had i made 1 that Geordie used, the only thing i made ( around 7 yrs ago) was a Theremin for some musicians . That was hard work as it was only from a schematic with basic literature. It worked though. 🎵👍. I did upload a video under " merlins theremin" Cheers.
Cheers matey! They are super elusive - I’ve only seen two or three for sale in the last decade at least. This one was recently serviced and looked clean so I pounced on it. No regrets!
Fletcher How did you get hold of the Paice Doubletracker didn't Geordie use 2 of them at the same time split into stereo? These are as rare as hens teeth?? Good Stuff!!
They are unubtanium! I’ve had two, this one is in far better working condition than my last one that I sold and regretted - this one belonged to an electronics whizz in Australia and he fully serviced it. Couldn’t pass it up. You can get freakishly close to the vibe with a Strymon Brig (which I have going on here as well. X
I sold it to him, I’ve been researching Geordie’s rig for years and spent all that time trying to find one of these. I finally got one and serviced/restored it. It’s a very unique effect, and it certainly helped me answer a lot of questions about his rig and sound. Geordie started out with just one ADT (in stereo wet and dry) that was used on Revelations and Fire Dances, around mid 84’ he bought another one (likely around the time they started writing for Nighttime) and started running two in stereo.
@@nihilvoid4112 i think the Strymon Brig that fletcher uses Comes kind of close have you compared any other effects with the ADT? there is a Video with Geordie in Prague using a line 6 DL4 i have one of those but not easy to get that ADT sound from it i did here him say in an interview that he used a couple of Line 6 DL4's used together the line 6 DL4 also has stereo out! But i don't think anything comes close to the ADT !
Truly awesome, thank you! I'm pretty surprised at how close you get to the tone with so many different guitars. Do you have any videos with the ADT and the Godin 5th Ave?
Hey hey matey thank you so much. The key really is getting the chords and picking style as close as possible. I find that as long as there’s some sparkle and resonance in the guitar (a P-90 or in this case Filtertron) you can get close with the right modulation settings. The ADT in stereo like this also gets as close as one can. These units have other things going on that chorus pedals don’t, there’s a phased sound to them as well. Very subtle. This is a 5th Ave model as well, but I’ll do another vid with the P-90 one next time.
Thank you and yes! the PA:CE ADT's are incredible. I have TWO!!! So far, I have only run one of them together with a Strymon Deco into THREE amplifiers. I get huge beautiful tones and enormous range of frequencies. Only problem is, with my meagre dictaphone recording capabilities it is impossible to capture the sonic tsunami. I had to sell out all of my bedroom recording gear in order to buy the ADT's! 😂Well worth the price though, the recording gear will always be there, the PA:CE ADT's not so easily. As you well know. I will be looking forward with baited breath to your P-90 Godin video. Maybe Twilight of the Mortals?😇Whatever it is, many thanks for your kind reply... and long live the king in heaven! @erFathoms
@@earendelanar2768 - oh man! I wonder if one of your ADTs used to be mine! I sold off a rather knackered one and regretted it later. It had a really short power chord and bent up enclosure where someone had tried to rack it back in the day. Regarding Strymons, my El Cap was one my live board for 12 years and that alone could get me damn close in mono, but I’ve wanted a Deco for ages now. Your setup sounds epic! I can say that the Strymon Brig can get frighteningly close to the ADT unit. I had Geordies settings dialled in on both units and could get 95% there. The brig has different BBD chip settings that sound so damn authentic. Regarding the Godins, they are very consistent, get one used with two P-90s, the Kingpin, then put some violin rosin under the floating bridge one your intonation is right and string it up with Elixir 12s in D-Standard. Set the action as low as it can go and it should get you closer to the Golden Lure than anything under 10k these days. X
None of them have short cords. One is pretty immaculate with the PAiCE logo, the other one is an earlier version with the BELL logo and very scratched all over with a worn out cord, but not a bent up enclosure. Both work perfectly other than the clean one must have some dust in a couple of pots (I hope it is just dust) because they make horribly loud scratchy noises when turned and also when not turned at some positions. I need to open it, but it is a bit of a daunting job with many screws to deal with and so far one of them knackered, it just rotates without going out. Do you or anybody else know how to fix that behaviour? Thanks! I also have an El Capi. If you like it you are going to love the Deco. It comes both closer to the ADT than El Cap and stands further, since it has a lot of its own very strong distinctive flavour. Very versatile toy. I love the combination with the ADT into two totally different sounding amps. The random modulation in the Deco is very similar to that of El Cap and the tape saturation is warmmm... I assume Geordie's settings are Gain: 2, Mix: 10, Mod: 5, Deviation: 5, Delay: 6. Is that correct? So, the Brig has golden ratio delay? You do not mean the Brigadier, but are talking about the latest, smaller Brig pedal, I understand. Thanks for the tips. I can't wait to get one of those Kingpins. My sister teaches violin, she will lend me the rosin ;-). @@FletcherFathoms
I'm led to believe that Geordie bought most of the ADT's , i wonder if Diamond dave has them now ?
