Indonesia is a huge and diverse country that offers so many interesting lessons for those interested in statehood and secession. In this video, I wanted to take a look at one of the rare examples of a secessionist dispute that was successfully resolved by integrating separatist forces back into the parent state. As ever, do let me know in the comments below if there are any other cases that you would like me to look at. Thanks for watching. If you found this video useful, please do consider giving it a 'Like' and sharing it with others who might be interested. And do all consider subscribing. It helps the channel to grow! Much appreciated!
Finally ☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️ it’s about time that you’re covering the Southeast Asian region (you do recognize me right?) If you have more time, can you please cover the other secessionist groups from the region (per country of course) and the history behind their desire to separate itself from their parent state? Their many reasons usually goes along by saying-that they don’t have or were not given a VOICE for their concerns to be heard because capital’s wants (representatives from the separatist region are lacking even in my home country) in the central government (their concerns/needs are being swept aside or treated as an afterthought) Or that when it comes to the separatist region’s very basic needs, the response from the central government is too slow The point is, is that the secessionist problems of every country have to be resolved peacefully (even if I am not from the secessionist region I understand that they mostly wanted a better life for their families and children 👶) including my own country’s secessionist problem which is in the form of the Moro Conflict in Mindanao that President Duterte is trying to resolve (the first Philippine President from Mindanao-Davao region)

❤❤salem aneuk nanggrau❤❤ The Kingdom of Aceh on the northern tip of Sumatra has always been a very strong and influential sultanate in Southeast Asia since the world has known Aceh. The golden peak of Aceh was under the rule of Sultan Iskandar Muda in the 17th century where, the Kingdom of Aceh expanded its influence almost throughout the whole of Southeast Asia. Aceh had strong diplomatic and trading relations with the international world, including the Kingdom of Holland way before the bloody colonial war broke out between the two nations. The Sultan of Aceh sent an Acehnese ambassador Tuanku Abdul Hamid, who died in Holland and was begraved at the church premise in Middlesburg, in the Netherlands. On 26 March 1873, the Kingdom of Holland officially declared war upon the Kingdom of Aceh. The aftermath of this declaration was widely reported around the globe by international newspapers and even created debates in government parliaments both in Holland and Great Britain that had diplomatic relations with the Sultan of Aceh. Today, after 148 years, the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) and the loyal Acehnese community commemorate this historic and glamourous day. The declaration of war is an official recognition of sovereignty and independence of Aceh. It was on this legal basis that GAM started their liberation struggle on 4 December 1976, whereby more than 30,000 innocent Acehenese and som 200 000 died during the tsunami. In the process, GAM and the Acehnese have always maintained our committment until today. The catastrophe was a catalyst that started the peace talks between GAM and GoI that ended the 30 years armed conflict with the signing of the peace accord, The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed on 15 August 2005 in Helsinki, Finland. Since then, GAM has adhered and respect the MoU but unfortunately, most of the points agreed have not been fully implemented while some crucial points are still on paper. In fact new regulations have been passed to decapitate the MoU. Many Acehnese are losing their patience and confidence of the peace process. The main issue of conflict in Aceh is political, a decolonization process that has never been done and the status of Aceh that was never part of the Netherlands East Indies. It is also the struggle for the right of determinantion of a decolonised people under international law. We strongly believe and call upon the Kingdom of Netherlands, with the support of the international community, to sign an end to the Declaration of War upon Aceh, as has been praticed after the Second World War. Thus eternal peace and stability is maintained in Aceh and the region of Southeast Asia.
Thank you for making this video! As an Acehnese i can appreciate the effort in making this video about one of the darkest chapters of Indonesian and Acehnese history. Although a lot of the MoU agreements has not yet been realized, the peace that exist today has allowed for extensive rebuilding efforts following the insurgency and the natural disasters. I look forward for the future!
Thank you so much for the extremely kind comment. (And my sincerest apologies for the delay in replying.) It is always wonderful to hear from people in the countries I cover. It was certainly a dark time. Needless to say, I wish you all the very best for the future. Very best regards from London.
actual facts that happened in aceh, very useful videos. I am a GAM fighter who is directly involved as discussed in the video. Thank you, greetings from Aceh 🙏🇹🇷
Berhenti berbicara omong kosong. Aceh memiliki muslim yang setia. Kita sudah makmur tidak ada diskriminasi jangan jadi timur tengah. Tidak ada perang saudara sesama muslim
Interesting video, I’m part Indonesian from North Sulawesi province and we have a small but sizable separatist movement. This is actually for the exact opposite of Aceh, as North Sulawesi is a largely Christian and wants to separate if Indonesia becomes a Islamist nation. Anyway this video is very interesting! 👍
Thank you so much. That is fascinating. I must look into it. Indonesia is such an interesting country in so many ways. Funnily enough, when I originally went to university I applied to do Politics with Indonesian (seriously), but then became fascinated in SE Europe when my family moved to Cyprus. But I’ve always maintained an interest in SE Asia.
That's quite Impossible, even the largest Muslim organization like NU, refused the idea Indonesia becoming Muslim nations. Becose the priority is making Indonesia Darussalam (peaceful) country. Because only in peaceful countries you can practice your religion freely and safely.
Indonesia is a multi-culture country with many religion, race, ethnic, and of course armed insurgency, like Soviet or Yugoslav :) But Thank God, our country still shine and stand until now 🙌 btw thank you sir, your channel is really help me to know more about international situation
Thank you so much for your kind message. I am so glad you find the channel interesting and useful. Indonesia is indeed an incredible country with so much diversity. But, as you note, there are also serious issues. I would really love to be able to visit someday.
Of the 38 provinces in Indonesia, Aceh is considered the most autonomous province. Aceh has a devolved parliament with its own local political parties (no other province in Indonesia has its own political party). Aceh is also the only province in Indonesia that applies sharia law, such as caning for unmarried couples, alcohol, etc. One of my teachers at my school back then was Acehnese and he was very happy to live in my province in South Kalimantan because he said we had cinemas. There were no cinemas in Aceh, the existing cinemas were burned to the ground after the peace agreement because they were considered satanic and contrary to Islamic laws.
Aceh was a long lasting Independent country before Dutch aggression at end of 19 century. So much different from other parts of which now Indonesia which had been under Dutch’s Indian iIndies for centuries.
Born and raised in Aceh, your video is on point. part of the reason dispute came to an end was after the tsunami, international starting to recognizing Aceh problem and it became mainstream? there were lots of international aids and media came here. I remember back then, thousands of United states navy and marines pouring my city to help. with that, international community starting to pressurize Indonesian government to end the dispute. and finally we come to a long awaited peace. sadly, although peace has arrive, there are still many unresolved human rights-crime. i saw Indonesian military cut a boys head because the military were looking for his father and couldnt find him, so they killed his son instead. atlease we live in peace now. great video anyway. love it from Aceh.
Thank you so much. It is always really great to hear from people directly involved in the cases I explore. It is often the case that once the peace agreement has been done and the world’s media go home there are elements of the agreement that don’t get implemented and aspects of the conflict that get quietly pushed away from public view. I really should look at this aspect of conflict. In the meantime, thanks for the comment and very best regards from London.
Thx for doing this. 13 mins seems too quick but you manage to distilled a lot of things in a very approachable way. Aceh right now is supersafe.. I hiked the Leuser highlands (the traditional hideout for the insurgency back in the day) with ex-GAM fighters as my guides a few times already. The ex fighters are just like any other human, few are corrupt but most are humble yet proud people. And Acehnese cuisines...wow.. Hands down one of the best in the world. I sometime joke that it would be a massive loss for Indonesia just because they would lose an array of delicious foods, from the coast to Tano Gayo and Alas-Kluet.
I think we can discuss about this now. There is unfinished business here on the Helsinki peace agreement after 15 years in peace between Aceh and Indonesia. It can triggers new conflict again if the both sides have no sincere intention. The worst happened in the past in the same situation after MoU Lamtéh in 1957.
Thanks a lot for the comment. I really appreciate it. It does seem that various elements of the agreement have not been implemented. There is always a worry in these situations that the conflict can resume. Hopefully, this won’t happen.
Thank a lot. Yes, it’s strange but Aceh is largely forgotten; even though it has only (!?) been 15 years since it was brought to an end. At one point, it was very prominent.
I'm extremely happy that I've found your channel!!! Thank you for your work! I'm a master student researching conflict resolution in different regions (especially EU and OSCE involvement in cases of Abkhazia and South Ossetia), so these themes are very interesting for me! :)
Thanks so much for the really kind message! I am really delighted you found the channel! I actually studied conflict for my MA and PhD (over at Kent) and I remember doing various case studies. I really hoped that the channel would be useful to students. As you can see, I often try to weave in ‘bigger’ issues and concepts into the videos. Do let me know if there are any topics you would like to see me cover. I am always keen to hear good ideas. And perhaps you could recommend the channel to others on your course or anyone else who might be interested. All support is most appreciated!
The video is great! I will spend all night watching all the videos on your channel! Thanks for the help in my International Negotiation paper Mr Ker-Lindsay, excellent video! You just gained one more subscriber! cheers from Ecuador!
Mario G Cevallos Hi Mario, thank you so much. I am so glad the video was helpful! And thanks for the subscribe. Really appreciated. (You might well be the first from Ecuador 🇪🇨!) Do let me know if you have any ideas for subjects you would like to see me cover. I’m always keen to hear ideas.
Thank you for this informative video. I'm trying to learn about every nation/"de facto" nation in the world, and was curious about Aceh, since it's a place I've never heard of before.
Thanks. Aceh really is a fascinating case. In fact, Indonesia as a whole is one of the most interesting countries in the world for anyone interested in secession.
Thanks. It is interesting how it seems to have completely dropped off the international radar. It was quite a big story at one point. However, these days most people seem to know little about it. (By contrast, East Timor has remained relatively well know.) In any case, I hope you’re doing well. Looking forward to your next offering!
Can you do a video explaining the constituent countries of the UK? I have never understood how the UK is even a country. And being a British yourself, what do you think about Scottish independence and Irish unification?
Thanks so much. Great suggestion! I’ve already done one video on Scotland. ua-cam.com/video/sDJTQoLH66w/v-deo.html I am certainly hoping to do more on the UK. But a general explainer is an excellent idea. For example, many people don’t understand the relationship between the Isle of Man and the UK or between the UK and the Channel Islands.
If i had to say, what's happening right now, it's complicated to explain and perhaps there are sensitive issues among indonesian goverment and GAM such as Aceh's flag, symbol and etc. Therefore, i would like you please do your own research to find the solve issues... Thank you so much your kind, God bless you are 😊🙏🙏

We hope that the United Nations and the international community will revisit the form of the Helsinki MOU that has been mutually agreed upon between GAM and Indonesia.
Thanks. Sadly not a situation that gets nearly enough attention. I actually included it in my recent video on the World’s leading independence movements ua-cam.com/video/JumFpE9D610/v-deo.html I hope to do a longer video on it at some point.
Could you do a video on Königsberg? And how it became Russian? I really don't understand how the founding city of Prussia then later Germany became a part of the Russian Federation.
Thanks so much for a great suggestion! I have noted it down. It certainly is a fascinating situation. A strange enclave of Russia that, as you say, was once part of Prussia.
Basically the Germans(who were NAZI's at that point) left at the end of the second world war, and Stalin made sure they left. Whilst it was part of the Soviet Union it was offered to the Lithuanian SSR, but they declined in a display of foresight.
Didn't expect this to be the topic of the video, I have never even heard of Aceh! Indonesia seems to have had a lot of disputes in its history. Thank you for a video about yet another lesser known topic! I find the pronounciation of Aceh odd 🤔
Thanks. Yes, when one thinks of Indonesia it tends to be in the context of East Timor or West Papua. Aceh already seems to be fading from memory; a mere 15 years after it was resolved. However, in its day, it was often reported in the international press.
But now tensions have returned between Indonesia and Aceh .. because the points of the Helsinki MOU were not implemented by Indonesia such as the flag, human rights court, distribution of natural products and others. it cannot be guaranteed that the conflict will reoccur.
To be honest, the Aceh government had been consistent in their failures to deliver net positive development despite the trillions given by the central government. There are two possible causes: either the local government is corrupt as hell, or the money is syphoned into...another part of the world, the middle east- for example
@@protocetus499 it's just like Papua, surely Indonesia as a whole is corrupt but local governments will likely become more corrupt if given free rein (including Jakarta) It's because we have bad law and procedure regarding how to supervise our own local ruler
@@CharDhue How about the cultural aspect then? from the beginning, unitary system is not suited for Indonesia. You guys just shove and force that unitary "is So GoOd" "BeST..." bla bla bla. While Indonesia is undeniably better with Federation system, you think those in West Sumatra want to accept Javanese style of governance
It would be interesting to see this type of video about the possible unification of Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, Philippines, South Thailand, Timor Leste, and Papua New Guinea to be Nusantara Empire.
Thanks a lot for such a great suggestion. I will certainly look into it. There are some issues in SE Asia that receive barely any international attention!
@@JamesKerLindsay hope you can studies the conflict at there. I have relationship with there as my ancestors came from this region before it was separated long ago.
Now Aceh is the only province in Indonesia with Syariah law, yes it's was part of the deal. I'm not saying is good or bad thing, Just so you guys know.
@@JamesKerLindsay Not really you did not cover darul islam and its direct relation to aceh separatist movement. That explain the key point of the peace agreement the instatement of shariah law in Aceh. Of course then Indonesia government get the periodic flak from western media each time theres public caning by Aceh (formerly separatist) government. Kinda funny of course EU support the implementation of shariah law in foreign country.
30years of political instability and civil unrest has cause Aceh fair struggle to recover economically and socially. In addition, the newly elected govt seems to be so disruptive and bring Aceh Development nowhere. As an Acehnese who were born and grew up in Aceh, I feel like at the end the citizens are the one who pay all the cost. Even after the conflict it seems like it never end. Despite Aceh is rangked as the 5th highest provincial budget but the poverty and unemployment still on the button 6th among other Indonesian provinces. There might lots of variables to be solved in order to make Aceh great again. But I don’t see that will happen even after more than 15 years of peace. Thanks for the review tho it’s for the academic purpose. 13 minutes seems not enough to highlight the 30years of civil unrest in Aceh. My suggestion maybe you can make video about any other part of the world that recover and gain their economic prosperity after the civil war. So, we can learn from those best practices.
Our Aceh has the same fate with Nepal after Maoist insugency. Former Maoists frontman rebels lift to political saga and swept the victory in the first national elections which held after the 2006 peace deal, but soon fell out of favour as former cadres accused rebel leaders of adopting lavish lifestyles and betraying their sacrifices

video that is very interesting to all the people of Aceh to see it .ace is not part of Indonesia and Indonesia is not part of Aceh where the people of Aceh have the right to live under the kingdom of their ancestors is not part of the province of Indonesia which is very barbaric towards its people.
Many of the MoU points are not realized by the indon government, the government are betraying the Achehnese trust as always, and CMI is careless about it. Therefore many more separatists' ideas are sprouting nowadays. Acheh will soon see even more resistance groups fighting for independence, even larger than before.
Actually, if we talk about the separatist movement in Sarawak and Sabah in Malaysia there is also an independence movement, although it is not widely expressed to the public because it is to maintain the spirit of Malaysian unity.😊

We, the Acehnese people, only want independence because that is the solution to peace. If Indonesia upholds democracy, then let the Acehnese people decide whether to remain with the Republic of Indonesia or choose independence through a referendum.
So sad for Aceh, country that have been colonised by Indonesia until now.. They help Indonesia during independence but been colonised after Indonesia strong.
All over Indonesia were hand-in-hand spontaneously organizing aid when tsunami struck Aceh. I was one of them coordinating aids to Meulaboh when it was not accesible, one of my friends an anasthesist in Jakarta with his team of doctors voluntarily flew to Aceh the second day of tsunami. I remember how the whole Indonesia acted in many ways to help Aceh at that time. That I think what many Acehneses also saw which made it easier for integration.

Finally ☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️ it’s about time that you’re covering the Southeast Asian region (you do recognize me right?)
If you have more time, can you please cover the other secessionist groups from the region (per country of course) and the history behind their desire to separate itself from their parent state?
Their many reasons usually goes along by saying-that they don’t have or were not given a VOICE for their concerns to be heard because capital’s wants (representatives from the separatist region are lacking even in my home country) in the central government (their concerns/needs are being swept aside or treated as an afterthought) Or that when it comes to the separatist region’s very basic needs, the response from the central government is too slow
The point is, is that the secessionist problems of every country have to be resolved peacefully (even if I am not from the secessionist region I understand that they mostly wanted a better life for their families and children 👶) including my own country’s secessionist problem which is in the form of the Moro Conflict in Mindanao that President Duterte is trying to resolve (the first Philippine President from Mindanao-Davao region)

And the ferlec kingdom ended in 1267 AD, so that it finally joined the work of SAMUDRA PASEE which was led by the sultan Malikul shaleh ...
The story of ferlek (perlak) can be checked in Marcopolo's book entitled Imago Mundi.

The Kingdom of Aceh on the northern tip of Sumatra has always been a very strong and influential sultanate in Southeast Asia since the world has known Aceh.

Thanks for talking about this conflict, not many people know about this conflict
Thank you very much. Agreed. It really should be better known internationally.
Thanks so much. It’s so interesting to hear a perspective from on the ground. I really appreciate it.
A great video i did not know much about the aceh conflict

Very interesting video. Learned a lot about a place I haven't heard much about before.
Thank you for your caring about Aceh, i hope you follow as well about advance stuation of MOU Helsinki nowadays.. 😇🙏
Thank you. I would really like to do a follow up on Aceh at some point. What is your view of the situation?
If i had to say, what's happening right now, it's complicated to explain and perhaps there are sensitive issues among indonesian goverment and GAM such as Aceh's flag, symbol and etc.
Therefore, i would like you please do your own research to find the solve issues...
Thank you so much your kind, God bless you are 😊🙏🙏

The royal kingdom at ACEH
1. KINGDOM OF JEUMPA
This kingdom was founded in 719 AD (141H), its first king was named MALIK SAID ABDULLAH (the forerunner of the kingdom in Aceh) his son Said almusanna his son Saidina hasan his son fatimah zuhra his son muhammad S.A.W
2. KINGDOM OF PEUREULAK /ferlec
Maharaj Syahriar Salman (son-in-law of MALIK SAID ABDULLAH) is one of the descendants of the Imam Musa Al Kazhim great-grandson Saidana Hussein binti fatimah zahra bin rasulillah S.A.W, ..
Maharaj Syahriansyah Salman has adopted his children to become the new Meurah. To the east, he appointed his son Syahr Nuwi as Meurah in a new city called ferlec. However, in its development, Ferlec Kingdom grew rapidly into a new port city, especially after the arrival of a group of descendants of the Prophet led by Maulana Muhammad al-Diba'i who had the title of Nakhoda Khalifah. Syahr Nuwi married his younger brother Makhdum Tansyuri with one of the figures in the group named Maulana Ali his son Muhammad his son Jafar Sadik, great-grandson of the Prophet Muhammad. From this marriage a son named Maulana Sayed Abdul Aziz was born, and on 1 Muharram (225 H) or year (840 AD), he was appointed King of the Perlak Islamic Kingdom.
the names of the sultan are as follows:
- SULTAN SAYED MAULANA ABDUL AZIS SYAH bin Maulana Ali his son Muhammad his son Jafar Sadik, his son Hussein his son fatimah zahra his son Prophet Muhammad. (840M-864M)
- Sultan Alaidin sayed Maulana Abdul rahim Shah (864 M-888M)
- Sultan Alaidin Sayed Maulana Abbas Shah (888 M-913M)
In 913 AD there was turmoil in the ferlec sultanate until 915 AD, then the sultan continued as follows:
- Sultan Alaidin sayed maulana sayed mughayat syah
But after that there was another upheaval from 918 AD - 928 AD
- Sultan Makhdum Alaidin Malik Abdul Khadir Shah (928 AD - 932 AD)
- Sultan Makhdum Alaidin Muhammad Amen Shah (932 AD- 956 AD)
- Sultan Makhdum Alaidin Abdul Malik Shah Johan Sovereign (916 AD - 983 AD)
Then in 983 AD
- 986 AD, the ferlec was split intowas split into 2, namely, the inner ferlec and the coastal ferlec.
a. Ferlec deepens Inland
Ferlec was founded in 986 AD- 988 AD, and who led at that time were: -sultan makhdum alaidin malik ibrahim syah johan sovereign
b. Coastal Ferlec
Coastal Ferlec was founded from 986 AD - 1023 AD And those who led at that time were: - Sultan Alaidin Syed Maulana Shah.
In 1006 AD, ferlec reunited and raised his king again in 1023 AD, who led the following:
- Sultan Makhdum Alaidin Malik Mahmud Shah Johan Sovereign (1023 AD - 1059 AD)
- Sultan Makhdum Alaidin Malik Mansyur Shah Johan Sovereign (1059 AD - 1078 AD)
- Sultan Makhdum Alaidin Malik Abdul Shah Johan Sovereign (1078 AD - 1109 AD)
-sultan makhdum alaidin malik ahmad syah johan sovereign (1009 AD - 1135 AD)
- Sultan Makhdum Alaidin Malik Mahmud Shah Johan Sovereign (1135 AD - 1160 AD)
- Sultan Makhdum Alaidin Malik Ustad Shah Johan Sovereign (1160 AD - 1173 AD)
- Sultan Makhdum Alaidin Malik Muhammad Shah Johan Sovereign (1173 AD - 1200 AD)
- Sultan Makhdum Alaidin Malik Abdul Jalil Shah Johan Sovereign (1200 M - 1230 M)
- Sultan Makhdum Alaidin Malik Muhammad Amin Shah Johan II Sovereign (1230 AD - 1267 AD)
Sultan Makhdum Alaidin Malik Muhammad Amin Shah Johan has 2 daughters
1. Named Putri Ganggang Sari, who later married the Sultan Malikul shaleh
2. Her name is Putri Ratna Kumala, who will later marry the Sultan Muhammad iskandar syah (Parameswara), the King of the Malacca kingdom
- Sultan Makhdum Alaidin Malik Abdul Aziz Shah, son of Malik Muhammad Shah, is the last generation of the Ferlec Sultanate.
And the ferlec kingdom ended in 1267 AD, so that it finally joined the work of SAMUDRA PASEE which was led by the sultan Malikul shaleh ...
The story of ferlek (perlak) can be checked in Marcopolo's book entitled Imago Mundi.
3. SAMUDERA PASEE Founded by SULTAN MALIKUL SHALEH or MEURAH SILU his son meurah makhdum malik abdullah, his son meurah ahmad, his son meurah makhdum malik ibrahim, his son meurah malik masir (to meurah mersa), his son meurah makhdum malik ishak, his son sultan makhdum alaidin abdul malik syah, his son sultan makhdum alaidin muhammad amin syah, his son sultan makhdum alaidin abdul khadir syah, his son meurah ahmad, his son meurah bahrun, his son syahir nuwi (the forerunner of the Peureulak/Ferlec kingdom), his son Maharaj syahriar salman (SON IN LAW KING OF JEUMPA) researchers estimate Maharaj Syahriar Salman is one of the descendants of Imam Musa al-Kazhim, great-grandson Saidana Hussein binti Fatimah Zahra bin Rasulillah SAW ,.
Syahir Nuwi (forerunner to the kingdom of Peureulak / ferlec) his son Mayang seuladang (REAL SON OF KING JEUMPA) his son Malik said Abdullah his son Said almusanna his son Saidina Hasan his son fatimah zuhra his son muhammad S.A.W.
in 1267 AD after the collapse of the Ferlec kingdom, there was the Samudera Pasai kingdom, the kings who had ruled the Pasee Ocean were as follows
- Sultan Malikul Pious (1267 AD-1297 AD) - Sultan Muhammad Malikul Dhahir (1297 AD-1326M)

- Sultan Ahmad Malik Ad Dhahir (1346 AD - 1383 AD)
- Sultan Zainal Abidin Malik ad dhahir (1383 AD - 1405 AD)
Ibn Battuta came to the Pasai Ocean in 1345 AD during the time of the Sultan Muhammad Malik ad Dhahir ..
And during the time of sultan Zainal Abidin, Sultan Zainal Abidin sent ulama to the island of Java in the year 1400 ± AD, one of the most sent scholars was brothers, namely maulana malik ibrahim and maulana ishaq and with their entourage, Maulana Ishq is a scholar of the LINGE kingdom in Takengon Central Aceh.
It can be called force relocation

Thank you for a video about yet another lesser known topic!
I find the pronounciation of Aceh odd 🤔
Thanks. Yes, when one thinks of Indonesia it tends to be in the context of East Timor or West Papua. Aceh already seems to be fading from memory; a mere 15 years after it was resolved. However, in its day, it was often reported in the international press.
greetings from Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam
But now tensions have returned between Indonesia and Aceh .. because the points of the Helsinki MOU were not implemented by Indonesia such as the flag, human rights court, distribution of natural products and others. it cannot be guaranteed that the conflict will reoccur.
To be honest, the Aceh government had been consistent in their failures to deliver net positive development despite the trillions given by the central government. There are two possible causes: either the local government is corrupt as hell, or the money is syphoned into...another part of the world, the middle east- for example

But why many peace points cannot be realized after the conflict ends.
Personal Desires (?)

So sad for Aceh, country that have been colonised by Indonesia until now.. They help Indonesia during independence but been colonised after Indonesia strong.
Indonesia shouldn't help Aceh when they got hit by tsunami then. They pour a lot of money to help Aceh recover from that disaster.
