I miss the old school Lamkin full cord grips! Those were the best golf grips they would last and were durable. I can't stand the new soft squishy grips!
Next a putting lesson with a top tier putting coach and for that sake with your driver as well could be awesome to see. Avesome video and cool insights
I LOVE the “I’m a good enough coach to say just do it like that” comment. How many golfers have had to go through swing overhauls because a coach felt like they had to change something in order to justify their fee? Class act.
Far too many. My coach told me a very long time ago that he didn't want to see me for a lesson unless something went really bad. He wanted me to go out and put the changes into action and "learn to golf" with it. I don't think Ive paid for a lesson since even though we've had some. Its not about the money for him. He taught me and I went out and taught others. He's a grow the game guy.
I was paired with Stan in a few Nationwide events back in the day. The man has forgotten more about the short game than most people know. If you could label someone an expert in an area of golf he is surely one. It is quite a shame that he's been stricken with Parkinson's because he'd still be very competitive to this day.
Read an article that said when he grabs a club his hands stop shaking. Recently shot a 69 at some charity event. I payed attention to it in the video and sure enough his hands quit shaking when he puts them both on the club. It would be an absolute honor to get a lesson from this legend one day.
I grew up in Columbia, Missouri and got to know Stan a little. He has always had a simple manner of speaking with no wasted words, to go along with a simple golf swing with no wasted movement. He could get up and down from anywhere. I've never seen a better short game.
Wife and I went to high school with Stan (he was a bit younger) and followed him on Nationwide and PGA tour. Genuine good guy. So happy he found his niche. His younger brother was a pretty solid golfer as well.
I also lived in Co Mo for 25 years. I met Stan through a friend. He was extremely nice. I haven't seen a Stan video in a while ... Looks like he has Parkinson's tremors. I'm glad to see he is still teaching. Grant, you had a lesson by one of the greats!!
Stan appears to make the lesson easy, easy bite size chunks of info that you can recall at a moment's notice. Love these types of video as much as seeing you play a round of golf.
Thanks for featuring my old friend Stan. Neither of us get back to West Plains very often so it was good to see him in your video. Tell Stan to keep swinging and that we miss seeing him of the tour. Tansy
Great video! Stan is one of the 2 best short game instructors of all time. I am quite impressed with how good he is with the full swing though. I can never get enough of these types of videos. His ideas on releasing the club head in chipping and putting have been helping people for a couple decades.
This is actually such a good video. I'm making a resolution - no more UA-cam 'swing tip' videos, only watching videos of lessons. That way you can always pair the 'tip' with the problem that's happening in the swing. So good. More of these please grant!
I was happy to see you wearing a Good Good hat in this video. I know you left but that group really helped you develop a following. I hope your future holds nothing but positive momentum.
Best advice I got out of that lesson was that the grip has to slow down to speed up the head. So sensible but hard to make yourself do it that way. Thanx Grant.😁
Love the fact Grant is humble enough to take a lesson even though he is as good as he is... speaks volumes of his character... and makes me feel like there's hope yet for me.. even in my 40's
OF course there's hope! I'm 50 and playing my best ever golf - hitting it longer than when I was 25, striking it more consistently, and actually have a short game. It's never too late to improve!
Stan is a legend. I have all of his short game and golf swing books. He's the one who brought "using the bounce" in chipping and pitching to the mainstream. He did a series of short videos that went along with one of his books that was just incredible. He's awesome. Great stuff Grant!
Even with Grant's beautiful swing and a brain full of swing knowledge, there is always more to learn. Congrats Grant on your continued success. The sky is the limit
Utley is the Harvey Penik of this era, simple wisdom and intellect…..a true great! He’s the type of guy that if he started talking to you while cutting apple with knife and eating a piece of the apple off the knife blade, you listen!! Like the way he says “tour” as “tur”. GREAT GREAT video!!
Grant! Sharing videos like this is huge for the program. I took this straight to the golf course as someone who isn’t the greatest wedge player. Improvements were immediate. I’ve shared this video with multiple people so… if you wanna keep growing your channel more content like this will certainly help me help you! Awesome stuff, thank you.
Had Stan give a clinic on my range in 2020 he was so low key low maintenance and I honestly forgot that they were there for at least a little while. Class act.
Love the Stan content! I bought his short game book like 20 years ago. It’s gold! I wish there was more content out there with him sharing his knowledge.
@granthorvat you young man are a true gentleman. I will continue to support you. Was thrilled to see you repping the @GoodGood hat to acknowledge your support and friendship with them.
Hey grant. I would love to see your dad more on the channel where both of you can give lessons and tips for us. You can analyze the swing extremely well, you should defs continue with the lessons vids you used to do.
Took golf lesson with Stan as well. Extremely knowledgeable. Focused on short game. Wish I had more time with him. To each their own if they feel it's worth $500 per hr but for someone looking to seriously improve. The answer is yes.
Excellent Vedic Grant. Loved the wedge tips as I was having the same problems I like it as he was giving you instructions and you followed that with you putting it into practise. Well done
Goodonya for still posting the video even tho it was shot back when... Good video and content and super educational. Respect the way you've handled the negative comments.
This is the exact video I've been needing!! I tend to hit my wedges incredibly high and short, could not figure out for the life of me how to hit them low. I had it backwards just like you!
I love that you actually gave a huge thank you to Stan instead of a "shout out.". Since I started watching Garet and you I've been wondering why you guy don't give THANKS. When did a shout out become ubiquitous with a thanks? It may be that I'm older, but the sincere thanks seems much more respectful and less cavalier.
I gotta try the Lamkin corded grip. I’ve been using the Golf Pride Tour Velvet Corded for ever. If I’ve ever switched to just try something else, that new grip usually gets cut off after one round and I always go back. The one attribute I wish the Tour Velvet Corded had would be a slightly more grabby feel. Yes, even more than they have already. If the Lamkin offers that, I’m def going to give them a try. No doubt. 👍🏻😎👍🏻
What a great lesson! Instruction to hit the low piercing wedges is useful and can’t wait to try. Being a fellow claw grip putter, I hope you have a putting lesson with Mr. Utley!
This is great! I work on the same thing with wedges. Practicing trail arm only shots helped a lot with the feel, best thing I have ever done for my game.
My son had new grips put on this summer on all of his Callaway irons. He went with this same Lamkin Chord grips and i think they feel REALLY and I like the look good as well. One other grip I liked were a velvet touch. I can’t remember if they were lamkin Golf Pride or what but I do really like Lamkin.
Loved the video . Stan played around the time I played in college at Wake Forest . One of the best instructors of his time . He doesn't try to teach a method but improves each individuals fundamentals . You are a great player Grant but I see you playing at an even higher level . You damn sure are one of the best UA-cam channels . Think about 4 spotting some Korn Ferry and PGA tour events . You have the skills to polish and it would be legit and great content . Please don't start playing 8 somes bunny hops .
I've been trying to learn golf for over 30 years. I feel in the early days (before all the videos and trackers) the emphasis was on building up torque between the lower and upper parts of the body and then releasing the clubhead pass the body. Now the emphasis seems to be on rotating through the ball with the club delofted. This lesson seemed to.major on the release of the clubhead.
Like you, I learned also to keep the hands forward if I wanted a low stinger. Thanks for bringing us along on your learning experience, I’ll definitely have to try that drill.
Grant, Great Video!!! Now I'm going to ask that you do a follow up video summarizing and talking a bit further about what you learned that day. You might also include a bit about how you're going to proceed with the knowledge you gained from him. Thanks again Grant!
Good content. I'm recovering from a motorcycle accident and can't wait to start working on my new swing. Broken wrist will do that. Keep up the swing work and the filming.
I really liked this video. I'm pretty good around the greens (chipping and pitching) however I do drag the grip through the ball. Every once in a while I shank a chip and couldn't figure out why. This helps alot. I look forward to trying this technique after the 2 foot of snow disappears
Hey Grant. I'd love to see a two camera and tracer with this lesson. As a viewer, I'd like to see the results, not just the contact. The tracer would show your change from high ball flight to low after the lesson and your results once you hit the green (spin/stop, etc.). I loved the lesson overall, but felt like it lacked the payoff by seeing the results. Cheers!
Interesting note he caught, I have occasionally seen your swing finish that looks like your finishing tilted back as well. fixing this finishing more over the ball and through impact should help you control trajectory some more. I struggle with this sometime as well. His note on the wedge swing on where to create the head speed was good, i've never heard it explain like that before.
I know this was a sponsored video but your full swing is so nice that it would have been nice to see you working with Stan on putting. That seems to be the liability in your game from time to time and his putting instruction is somewhat unorthodox but also well respected.
Absolutely awesome video. Like the more advance videos. Would love to see another one or like practice round. (Trackman line to the shots would make these 10/10)
Hi Grant, can I just say this, if you want to be an AMAZING chipper and pitcher of the ball Stan's method is the GOAT!!! He has helped me around the greens more than any other youtuber! Stan really is the short game GOAT.
I could have fixed The Round Mound of Rebounds’ swing easily using Manual de la Torre method. Simply take the clubhead back with your hands, swinging the club over the shoulder and then swinging the whole club to the target with your arms. That simple!
Huge thanks to Stan utley, He’s a legend. Happy to share his knowledge with you guys!
He’s a golf savant no doubt!
Thanks for the free listen . I'm going to try the wedge one today . nice
I miss the old school Lamkin full cord grips! Those were the best golf grips they would last and were durable. I can't stand the new soft squishy grips!
Stans the man! You should definitely have a putter lesson from him as well
Next a putting lesson with a top tier putting coach and for that sake with your driver as well could be awesome to see. Avesome video and cool insights

If you could label someone an expert in an area of golf he is surely one. It is quite a shame that he's been stricken with Parkinson's because he'd still be very competitive to this day.
I noticed his little twitch and was wondering if it was from Parkinsons. Thanks for the info.
Read an article that said when he grabs a club his hands stop shaking. Recently shot a 69 at some charity event. I payed attention to it in the video and sure enough his hands quit shaking when he puts them both on the club. It would be an absolute honor to get a lesson from this legend one day.

I also am from Columbia and beet lesson I ever got was from stan
I’m from Columbia! Como is great and Stan is great!
I also lived in Co Mo for 25 years. I met Stan through a friend. He was extremely nice. I haven't seen a Stan video in a while ... Looks like he has Parkinson's tremors. I'm glad to see he is still teaching. Grant, you had a lesson by one of the greats!!
MIZ
Stan appears to make the lesson easy, easy bite size chunks of info that you can recall at a moment's notice.
Love these types of video as much as seeing you play a round of golf.
This is shit! Should have stuck with "good good".
he should for 500 an hour
Thanks for featuring my old friend Stan. Neither of us get back to West Plains very often so it was good to see him in your video. Tell Stan to keep swinging and that we miss seeing him of the tour. Tansy
Stan is super cool! What a class act for allowing this to be on film. No ego, just a good ole boy!
Great video! Stan is one of the 2 best short game instructors of all time. I am quite impressed with how good he is with the full swing though. I can never get enough of these types of videos. His ideas on releasing the club head in chipping and putting have been helping people for a couple decades.

Love to see it! Besides, the merch is clean
He probably made this video prior to leaving
Definitely filmed before leaving. He won’t wear GG anymore regardless of his upcoming Primo ambassador deal
Honestly Grant was the only reason I watched Good Good.
Fairly easy to look at the vegetation in the background and see this was filmed months ago, prior to his departure from Good Good.
Grant is a cool guy but if tiger in his prime got lessons, its not that humble for anyone to get lessons
OF course there's hope! I'm 50 and playing my best ever golf - hitting it longer than when I was 25, striking it more consistently, and actually have a short game. It's never too late to improve!
humble?? All pros golfers have swing coaches. Grant not even close to being a pro level
Are you like new to golf? Golf pros have swing coaches 😂😂
@@rizon406 You're hitting it longer than you were at 25 because of the equipment.
Stan is a legend. I have all of his short game and golf swing books. He's the one who brought "using the bounce" in chipping and pitching to the mainstream. He did a series of short videos that went along with one of his books that was just incredible. He's awesome. Great stuff Grant!

I could listen to his voice all day giving golf advice.
That was very interesting. Stan is a professor of the swing. He dissected and analyzed your small issues in no time. Very impressive!
I read both of his "art of putting" and "art of the short game" books when I was a junior. Still remembers so many of the basics to fall back on.
Went out and tried the wedge tips and man it worked 😳😳
Let’s go!
Also excited to try 🤔
You all, Stan, and Sarah Schmelze should shoot a video next time you are down in Scottsdale! My dad would love to come on the channel
If this man was able to fix Chuck’s swing.. nothing’s impossible. 😂 Love these kinds of videos, Grant
Had Stan give a clinic on my range in 2020 he was so low key low maintenance and I honestly forgot that they were there for at least a little while. Class act.
Great lesson. So many folks would benefit from feeling like they “throw” the club head into the ball, rather than trying to hold the angle.
Literally my favorite golfer and channel on UA-cam. Keep doing your thing Grant!
Love the Stan content! I bought his short game book like 20 years ago. It’s gold! I wish there was more content out there with him sharing his knowledge.
Out of all YT videos ever….Stan has changed how I think about wedges. Hitting absolute bullet dart one hoppers now. Thanks Stan
@granthorvat you young man are a true gentleman. I will continue to support you. Was thrilled to see you repping the @GoodGood hat to acknowledge your support and friendship with them.
love it when a lesson makes sense. I picked up so much from this content. Stan the Man making it easy. Grant your golfing journey has improved my game
Hey grant. I would love to see your dad more on the channel where both of you can give lessons and tips for us. You can analyze the swing extremely well, you should defs continue with the lessons vids you used to do.
The best instructors teach the basics. Perfectly simple, Stan is the best short game guy around.
Artistry , creativity and confidence with those shots. Hands go down in a arc and the heel of the club goes out, just a bit. It works.
Took golf lesson with Stan as well. Extremely knowledgeable. Focused on short game. Wish I had more time with him. To each their own if they feel it's worth $500 per hr but for someone looking to seriously improve. The answer is yes.
This is actual golf instruction. No sugar coat but still friendly and professional. Start tough and leave them walking away impressed with themselves.
Excellent Vedic Grant. Loved the wedge tips as I was having the same problems I like it as he was giving you instructions and you followed that with you putting it into practise. Well done
There is nothing like old school feel/hands golfers. Love it.
“Let me hit one” spoken like a true golfer 🤣
Great guy. Even with Parkinson he's a great teacher. Inspiration for lots of the patients.
very good glimpse of a lesson.
also impressive is the product placements. quite tastefully done.
Stan is a true Good Ol Boy. I could listen to him coach all day with that southern draw.
Love the lesson content Grant! Different sets of eyes can be so beneficial, especially with Stan’s wedge expertise
I’m a believer in everyone needs lessons including the pros, but Grant you are messing with perfection my guy.
This is great content Grant! It's really interesting to see both of you talk so in depth about the golf swing.
I was honored and lucky to have worked an internship with Stan Utley. He truly made the swing and putting so simple.
Dude last part how he explained after you using the whip wedge was pure gold!
I appreciate when he says he is not going to mess with 8 iron. Most coaches feel like they have to say something
That wedge information made me realize things about my own wedge game. Wow. I’m surprised at how informative this was
I watched the lesson you had with your Dad. You are so fortunate- blessed to have a Terrific Father ! Much success!!
Really solid! Knowing what to correct and how and then executing is a great feeling! Thanks for sharing your lesson! Good drills
Thank you so much for letting us take part and learning along w you!
I gotta try the Lamkin corded grip. I’ve been using the Golf Pride Tour Velvet Corded for ever. Coach's skill lies in how well he expresses himself and in knowing when not to speak.
What a class swing G - got some serious swing envy! Will be be reading the ‘Art of scoring’ by Stan again very soon.
"You spun a range ball with dirty grooves", instant classic.
What a great lesson! Instruction to hit the low piercing wedges is useful and can’t wait to try. Being a fellow claw grip putter, I hope you have a putting lesson with Mr. Utley!
Stans first tip is something you rarely hear instructors say but its definitely something people need to pay attention to.
you can never stop learning the ins and outs of the many golf swings it takes to be great
This is great! I work on the same thing with wedges. Practicing trail arm only shots helped a lot with the feel, best thing I have ever done for my game.
Solid gold video Grant! This was a 13 minute wedge master class. Thanks to you and Stan.

I bought Stan Utley's short game books years ago and still go back to them, they are my bible and truly game changing.
Had the privilege to have a lesson with Stan recently - he is amazing.
“Flinging the weight at top of a stick” that’s gold
Grant, Great Video!!! Now I'm going to ask that you do a follow up video summarizing and talking a bit further about what you learned that day. You might also include a bit about how you're going to proceed with the knowledge you gained from him. Thanks again Grant!
Amazing video!! Stan is the best!! Such an amazing theory on chipping!! Could listen to him for hours. Grant your videos are awesome!! Thank you
I laughed when you felt you had to tell people who Stan Utley was……he is a legend that all old timers know well……lol🇨🇦
This is perfect! I struggle with low shots as well. Thank you for this content!
Such an awesome video. Thank you for sharing this with us. I’m going to the range tonight to re-watch and work on these things myself!
Awesome video, Stan is awesome I remember him from back in the day. Keep up the great work Grant
When you go back to California I would love to see a teaching video with porzak golf! That would be a dope collab!
We are so lucky to have so many great instructors here in Az. Great video, Grant!
Florida and AZ are the two golfing Meccas. Both are loaded with great courses and coaches.
Good content. I'm recovering from a motorcycle accident and can't wait to start working on my new swing. Broken wrist will do that. Keep up the swing work and the filming.
Great video Grant. What an opportunity you got. Love that you're still reppin' the GG cap!
I really liked this video. I'm pretty good around the greens (chipping and pitching) however I do drag the grip through the ball. Every once in a while I shank a chip and couldn't figure out why. This helps alot. I look forward to trying this technique after the 2 foot of snow disappears
He makes so much sense! Very well at explaining
Cheers!

I know this was a sponsored video but your full swing is so nice that it would have been nice to see you working with Stan on putting. That seems to be the liability in your game from time to time and his putting instruction is somewhat unorthodox but also well respected.
Stan Utley has a great book on putting. Quite a teacher
He fixed Barkley he can fix anyone. Stan is a miracle worker
Grant, your swing is 🧈. Keep up the content. Us hacks enjoy watching what a swing should look like.
Nice to see a simple common sense golf lesson. No useless position based instruction.
MORE OF THIS. This is next level professionalism when approaching the game of golf with youtube content. Keep up the knowledge sharing!
Absolutely awesome video. Like the more advance videos. Would love to see another one or like practice round. (Trackman line to the shots would make these 10/10)
Thank goodness this wasn’t another “lead wrist flexion” video, lol.
Cool video. I’ll have to implement some of those ideas into my own wedge game
Stan is the man!
Wow what a great man, looking forward to trying some of the things you have worked on.
I benefited from this lesson too! I tend to do the same thing as you Grant.
Hi Grant, can I just say this, if you want to be an AMAZING chipper and pitcher of the ball Stan's method is the GOAT!!! He has helped me around the greens more than any other youtuber! Stan really is the short game GOAT.
Thank you for sharing this grant ! I learned so much here.
Like the inside look. Glad you didn’t cancel this video because of the GoodGood hat!
Grant - starting to get it
Stan - hold my beer....
Stan - hits the pin first shot
Grant - WTH
Hopefully soon there will be a course review video coming out, loved the first one
Would really love to see Grant take a lesson with Porzak Golf. (Adam Porzak) - What he does to the young and upcoming pros especially with wedges
I could have fixed The Round Mound of Rebounds’ swing easily using Manual de la Torre method. Simply take the clubhead back with your hands, swinging the club over the shoulder and then swinging the whole club to the target with your arms. That simple!
