And tribe of thamud were also giant people's. They made houses in mountains as you can see in Jordan...
Aad was a nation of prophet hud in Hebrew or bible by name(Eber). The tribe of Aad was very strong and tall even they can pull date tree from its roots though dates trees consider strongest in compare to other plants and trees. That tribe of prophet HUD(AS) was very arrogant coz of strong body and was not listening to HUD(AS). He tried best to lead them to straight path and told worship Allah but they didn't listen etc so Allah brought strong winds that winds was so much strong and they were flying in air up and down and broken them into pieces. So that's why Allah mentioned them in the Quran that you (we) people are too much weaker than that tribe. What I did to them. Hope you understand. Not good in English. Sorry

That’s why it is to learn Arabic if you are serious about the Quran. You get a deeper understanding of the meanings in Arabic and the way the words flow is truly appreciated.

The Aad and Thamud were both located in the northwestern part of modern day Saudi Arabia near the border of Jordan. Before sending the punishment on them, Allah sent two prophets to these nations. He sent Prophet Hud (AS) to the Aad, and Prophet Salih (AS) to the Thamud.

U r right that the way it is recited is different because those are written like poems. At the end of every arabic sentence, U can hear the similarity of each sentence. These surahs in Quran, are called the most beautifully organized literature, these have the highest literature values in arabic language. It is also proven that , its not possible for any human being to create verses like those. Arabic literature literally came and people learned from QURAN. But the translations are nothing like the actual verses. These translations are just to make us understand the verses.
