Loved the vlog , I did the walls at Chester last year and really enjoyed it. It is lovely the way the community on the water help each other unlike on land. It is a pity work gets in the way of life. The new boat is very exciting I am totally useless at choosing colour schemes. Have a fabulous week, hopefully you were in a nice quiet spot when the fireworks were going off .xx

It's something watching your video when it's obviously quite hot, but here in Minnesota right now it's only 37F! You mentioned the Florida Keys, have you been there? I was there 5 yrs. ago with my corgi Stella finishing up a massive road trip through the South. My gosh, you don't know heat & humidity until you've experienced it in the deep South. I was there in May and it was like being in a giant outdoor sauna! Anyway, it has to be much cooler for you in England now. Shame about your t-shirt Paul, naughty Anthony 😁. You guys are quite fab, and Dexter Dog is wonderful. Cheers!

Paul, I am someone who has worn eyes glasses for decades and decades. I have a tip to save you from losing those very tiny screws in your sunglasses. A cheap bottle of clear nail varnish ( nail polish here in the US) can save you lots of money. A wee drop of polish on the top of the screw will keep it from loosing and falling out. It has saved me many trips to the optician s shop for a repair. It works well on sunglasses too.

Travels with new friends is always better than going solo😊. I don’t blame you for not wanting to do those staircase locks on your own! I do believe you got what we call in the South “A farmers tan” that day. Summer sun is brutal. Bet y’all are sitting in front of your stove with Dexter remembering those hot days as autumn is closing in. Big storms and a few tornadoes in our state last night, ushered in a cool front finally.

Another trip down memory lane for me, thank you. I had to take a boat up Bunbury staircase when I did my helmsman’s course. There was a boat coming down and it was a bit disconcerting seeing it looming above me 🙈. Chester is beautiful, we were there at the end of November2016, in time for the Christmas market. It was lovely, lots of stall holders in beautifully decorated little wooden huts, all lit up with fairy lights. We bought a plastic cup of mulled wine and paid an extra 50p for a slug of brandy to be added. The young man in charge of the stall had never done that before and his hand sort of slipped as he poured our brandy in! We stood sipping at it while we watched the torchlight procession going past the cathedral, and were quite tipsy by the time we got back to the boat which was moored opposite the Elsan emptying point. See what I mean about a trip down memory lane? The only bit I didn’t like very much were the Northgate Locks. They were both depressing and hard work.
Hey Sheila. I bet that was intimidating on your helmsman course! Would love to go to the Xmas market there. We won’t be far to be honest this winter so may give them a go. Paul, how many pairs of sunglasses do you go through? Screw loose, meaning your glasses not you? Luckily, you had a spare screw in Anthony's kit. At first, I thought you'd found it with the magnet.

I really noticed the slow pace of things this time--how patient and methodical boaters need to be (as in the "shuffle"). It was cool how you filmed the "shuffle" so that I finally understood what it meant! And it was nice to see Chester (just think of seeing a building where Handel first performed the "Messiah"!). And finally the fabric choices was a nice homey touch. I can't wait to see the new boat being built! Have a lovely week, guys!

Another enjoyable Vlog guys. Chester looked lovely (it's been years and years since I have been), but I agree with Anthony, nice to visit but even better to get back out to the countryside. Paul, you did very well on your own with all the locks (and very lucky to have such good help along the way). Found it so difficult to get my head around the 'Bunbury Shuffle', but thank you for explaining it so well. To be honest it has taken me years to understand how locks work.. Exciting times for you both to be choosing all the fabrics for your new boat. It's going to be quite an adventure for you and you must be looking forward to seeing every step of the boat build and really putting your own marks and personalities into the process. Brilliant as usual visited Chester many years ago would like to return one day, i agree with you about visiting cities or towns nice while you are there but better in the more peaceful countryside. As i was watching your latest blog the rain is absolutely chucking it down so finding shade is not os relevant now in November .Lovely to be reminded of the gorgeous summer we had though look forward to seeing your new boat take care .

I suppose it's strange staying in towns when you are used to being out in the countryside. Good having the help on the locks. Interesting seeing the samples, the only problem is having to choose which will look the best.

Paul you steered the boat so we’ll on your own nice to have some help though doing the shuffle 😉. Chester looks really nice to visit we’ve never been kind of reminds me of York with the wall around the town. We love to visit York when we’ve been over in the UK. Definitely time to get back for a visit. Flights are getting so pricey though. We change our clocks tonight so now back to light mornings and dark early yuk. Hi Paul, Anthony and Dexter-Dog. Another great Vlog this week. Thank you. Chester is looking lovely. been there many times in my younger days on day's out. Beautiful weather. Great to see Dexter walking with Anthony. I noticed Anthony kept Dexter on a tight short lead when they were walking up and down the many steps on the wall. Was this to help Dexter with all those steps? Great chat as always at the start of the Vlog, and it was so funny when Paul said Anthony was Shady. I love this type of banter! Nice one Anthony for wearing Paul's shirt when cleaning the roof of the boat. Nice one Paul for fixing your Sun-Glasses. A good bit of forward thinking by Anthony in getting a box of Tiny screws (for a rainy day)!. I have something similar, because one never knows when you might need one. Oh no the new sunnies. That was a good buy Anthony but, does the kit scoop sunnies up from the bottom of the canal. Reality is there must be hundreds of them in the bottom of those canals. I’d love to go back to Chester, I agree really nice town. How lucky to get help on those locks though I couldn’t work out that weird lock, I’ve got your vlog on again as I write to try and follow it. Happy Saturday! 🥰 Loved the vlog! I'm kind of obsessed with Chester and would love to walk the entire wall in real life. Fortunately there's video since I can't. 🙂 Would love to go to Llangollen IRL too, of course. I love the town but I think it's a wild river in the middle of a town that intrigues me the most. Lots of places have a river in town but not like the River Dee. 😊
The Bunbury Shuffle looks tricky. It's good there was help. Of course, car shuffling isn't easy either and you do that all the time.
Love that you decided to go with some color for the interior. I bet that choosing everything is so exciting especially since it will be a long time to see the end result and actually see how it all comes out. Have a great week and take care. ❤
Happy Saturday Dorothy. Aww such a shame, you definitely would love Chester. The river Dee is quite fierce when you look at it in some places. We loved Llangollen and wished we could have stayed longer. The Bunbury shuffle is a bit tricky but great for saving water. We definitely can’t wait to share the boat build as we are really excited at some of the choices.

@@anthonysmith-storey9247 I wish I could go to both places. Llangollen would be rough because it's so hilly but I could manage the wall at Chester. I hope there was a decent amount of water in the River Dee. It would be so disappointing to go there and have low water. The town in neat, but the river is the centerpiece---at least for me.
Hopefully there's been enough rain to raise the canals so people can get to the places they need to be for winter.
