They have tortured this lady for seven years. She really doesn't deserve this.

as a deplorable right wing extremist, I must ask the D.A. "...haven't you got better things to do?..." A public, written reprimand would suffice.

The real question is why can’t she vote? Why cant someone who is on probation or parole vote? Are they not citizens? Will the outcome of the vote outlast her probationary status? Who is the victim?

You raised excellent questions - I wished more people asked questions. Black and brown people are disproportionally arrested and convicted at rates greater than whites primarily due to over-policing and the targeting of certain neighborhoods. Knowing this legislatures frequently write laws stripping convicted felons of their voting rights. Such laws disproportionately affect blacks greater than whites thereby diminishing black voter power. The victim is the woman charged. This entire case is about the small margins used to win elections. The goal of this case is to discourage black people from voting. Just the act of charging this woman with a crime sends a chilling effect that discourages anyone with a record to not vote.

Habeus Corpus. You go to prison or get released under supervision, your rights are suspended. It’s pretty simple. You break the law, you lose your rights. Once released, in some cases, when probation is over, you may get the right to vote back. You did harm to society, so society doesn’t need your input. We want input of the citizens who follow the law, not the lawless. If you don’t like it, don’t break the law. New laws are made because people find loopholes in the older laws. Game of cat and mouse. Bottom line: follow the law, we’d love your input. Broke the law? You’re judged and we don’t really care for your input. In general. Hope that clears it up for you.

Oh and I forgot to mention the who is victim… if this happened in mass, you’re talking a very disproportionate vote of lawless citizens having more say than those who follow the law. We are not a democracy. If we truly were, there’d be anarchy everywhere.

Being unaware of the law doesn’t grant you immunity from the law. I can see why it’s appealing the precedent, it allows everyone to claim oh I didn’t know I could vote and the charges would be leaned to being dropped but the vote still counted. It’s unfortunate, but if convicts can’t vote, what made her think being on probation doesn’t null her vote until it’s done. It’s makes complete sense why it’s being appealed. Would I overturn the ruling? Yes. Does she need to be charged? No. If it happens again? Absolutely and now everyone on probation knows they can’t vote. It’s all reasonable.

Bullcrap....they knew she made an honest mistake. Did you even review her case and saw why she questioned she wasn't on the voter list. Made sure she even had her ID. Now we have a woman in Iowa that intentionally voted twice for Trump and was given probation and a fine. Here we have a man in Colorado who forged his ex wife signature and was given probation and community service. Do I have to tell you what race they are ?
She did her time. Why retry her ? You are a mean person.
