I love the Journey Home. I am currently in RCIA classes and very grateful for all of the stories I get to hear. Thank you all for all of the information you provide for our learning.
Brilliant!Great talk Marcus. It is so amazing to listen to you and many other convert to Catholic Church. Thank you Thank you. God bless you and your family.
Excellent! Very broad and less biased exposition of the tale. Thanks Marcus. Still love The Journey Home which I considered the most important show on tv.
We (Americans) have had a disproportionate number of Episcopalian presidents, and only one Catholic president. This speaks volumes to me, as to regards of residual anti-Catholicism.
You are right; I remember learning even about the California missions (I grew up in California), and even now-Saint Juniperro Serra, but nothing about the Catholic faith which motivated him.
Diane Sic gala yes, it's pretty bad... I think it's much worse on the internet than it is in person though. Just about every article or video about Catholics or anything Catholic, will attract droves of anti-Catholics to mudsling the Church, bash Catholicism, and harass Catholics. Plus there a so many "ministries" and websites online that are dedicated to perpetuating anti-Catholic propaganda, myths, & misconceptions. You don't see near as much of that kind of behavior & bigotry directed at Protestants by Catholics though.
That's because about 35% of American Christians aren't even Christian. They are 'self declared' as such, but are not officially recognized as any sort of Christian hence a pseudo-christianity. They are outside BOTH Protestantism and Catholicism. What makes a pseudo-Christian is there rejection of the major Christian Creeds. These groups are not under Protest and never have been. They are from a line of 'Rebels' that were cast out of Protestant Europe to the Americans for their heresies. They have a 'germ' in them. Something that I cannot describe. Its in their soul to hate the Catholic Church. They steal the label of Protestant when they are not in a state of Protest. They are no different than small cults essentially who work day and night for Satan stealing Catholic sheep. Authentic Mainline Protestants are not out in the world doing the same. Martin Luther called these people the sects of the devil because of their questioning baby baptism. One sign until this day is these false pseudo-Christians/Protestants reject baby baptism and/or offer another baptism which automatically violates our basic Christian Creeds. Also take special note of ANY Americans claiming to be 'Reformed' or Calvinist' Churches. They are not authentic, or from Europe, and have stolen the Calvin/Reformed name. They are stealing labels from someone else and pretending they are Protestant Church. Basically if you don't see vestment, stain-glass windows, and alter, then they are not a Christian Church. American Christianity is up to 40% FALSE Paganism masquerading as Protestant or 'Christian' when it is neither. This is why they support the Masonic ideals of religious liberty. Its these same people that likely created Freemasonry believe it or not. They run their 'gatherings' like a for profit business in solicit membership away from each other - usually stealing Catholic sheep. I think awareness needs to be spread that these people are NOT brethren in the faith, and they are NOT schismatics and are NOT lost Catholic brethren in a state of Protest and they are NOT sheep in another fold. These are outsiders who have stolen a Bible not belonging to them, and have misused it to destroy our Faith. Just as Satan did to Jesus in the dessert. These people are NOT part at all of Christendom and work against us. Awareness needs to be spread that these are NOT Protestants whatsoever. (note: it goes without saying that not ALL of them are bad - many are mislead and yes the most vocal are on UA-cam and media. However, their unknowingly support the works AGAINST both Catholics and Protestants and nothing changes that fact).
Diane Sic gala That is good to know, I went to mass or service at the beautiful chapel at Glasgow University and said something on England to the rector and he reacted in a loud voice We are a separate nation and we are a separate church. Beautiful chapel and beautiful churches throughout the land but empty. The UK needs a religious fence to survive and that fence is down. Fences make good neighbors - Frost and I worry about the UK without Christianity.
Tessa: 99.9% of my angry comments to protestants are in response to their incessant attacks and false witness. They troll pretty much EVERY site on the internet that is even vaguely Catholic, including movies and Christmas carols that mention Mary. It is not a minority of protestants, it is the overwhelming majority. Most really are this ignorant and malicious towards the Catholic Church, the computer has just given them an anonymous outlet. Growing up I never ONCE heard anything even remotely anti-protestant from my parents, my church, or my Catholic school. We always were told to consider them our "separated brothers and sisters" but they on the other hand consider us the actual ANTICHRIST and condemn us to hell. It's sickening and beyond belief. Hatred of Catholicism is freely preached in protestant churches but you only see Catholics being charitable to these nasty creatures and trying to engage them in friendly ecumenical dialogue. I realize not ALL protestants are ignorant and crazy but unfortunately it seems to be the majority. I don't wish to be uncharitable to them but enough is enough. For those who are just simple-minded I can have some sympathy but with the internet there is no excuse for the rest of them to remain so willfully ignorant. They just toss out endless fiction and attacks and Catholics have to waste all their energy responding to false accusations. I've had it with them. Maybe some have the patience to deal with their venom but I don't anymore.
TakeSomeAdvice: You hit the nail on the head ,no offense meant but Americans always seem to think they have a monopoly on wisdom, and they interpret doctrines into American style "Christianity made in America so to speak".
Thank you for sharing this! Had thought of purhasing Tim Gordons 'Catholic Republic" and now I will definitely look into this further... It seems like the Church has the Authority to govern.. I hadn't thought of it that way before.
Form Colombia. Its so sad for me to see how houndreths of protestans churches had come to my country and convert millions of catholics to their new version of Jesuscrist. I fallow you to learn history so I may defend the catholic faith.
You tractor story reminds me that my I.T. friend has a saying that guides him in his professional life: "RTFM." Oddly enough, that's a good solution here. The early Church Fathers (i.e. "the church") can be regarded as a "user's manual" for scripture, and they will lead the "user" home to the Church every single time. So often, our separated brethren fail to "read the manual" as often as we all fail to read the manuals for our tractors and automobiles (at least until we need to re-set the clock for daylight savings time), and thus miss out on some of the best that scripture has to offer.
Ok lets assume you are right (though I think your interpretation of the Bible is wrong). Now you tell me why there are over 40000 reflections of your belief and not just ONE TRUE APOSTOLIC PROTESTANT CHURCH?
AMEN, Diane Sic gala. The Early Church Fathers recognised the clear meaning of Scripture regarding the "Real Presence" of Jesus in the EUCHARIST. While some found it hard to accept (John 6 51-69) In verse 67, Jesus asks all of us the saddest Q in the Gospels "Will you also go away?"....the beginning of the Reformation. Jesus is telling his Apostles that if they can't handle His teaching on the EUCHARIST, then they should walk away as well. That's how insistent He is on this teaching. And that's why we say in the Catholic Church that the EUCHARIST is the source and center of the Christian life. As a Catholic, the first Friday of every month, I will read John 6 51-69 and Luke 22: 14-20. The only time Jesus says in the Gospels "DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME". And that is why the Catholic Church celebrates "THE LAST SUPPER" daily. Because GOD is outside of time, every Catholic who has ever lived has gone to the same Mass as you and I (Where heaven and earth meet). Each time the Holy Spirit (through the Priest) descends upon the Bread and Wine, we look up at the EUCHARIST...and Mother Mary and the Saints and all our relatives and friends who have passed on look down, gazing upon the very same EHCHARIST. From up in heaven, they adore the same Real Presence of Jesus. Catholicism is beautiful...I love being Catholic. GOD bless, Garry, from Johannesburg, South Africa.
So glad, Jennifer, that you found what you believe is the ONE TRUE FAITH in an independent baptist church. The first baptist church was formulated in Amsterdam in 1608. Welcome to the fold, albeit, somewhat late. Ask your pastor a couple questions. First, where did he find the KJV bible he now holds? The Sacred Scripture was written BY Catholics, TO Catholics and FOR Catholics. Secondly, ask Brother Earl if he wishes to be the end-all, catch-all authority for the INTERPRETATION of the KJV bible for baptist believers everywhere. If he refuses, please ask him to assign someone to that task because it appears in our short little exchanges on this post alone there have been some serious differences of opinion in terms of the meaning of different passages. Ultimately, and I mean this sincerely, I am glad that you are learning about Christ and pursuing a CHRISTIAN faith as you can understand it. The more time you spend in HONEST and OPEN-MINDED research you will discover (as many before you have) that the Catholic Church is not the demon that your ill-informed faith has labeled it. Did you even watch the video by Marcus Grodi or did you just see this as an opportunity to opine your own rant on all things Catholic? It would appear that your time would be better served staying up late reading about the lives of the baptist saints.
Ironic that without the French help and finances, the colonies may have never become independent. So the puritans gained their independence thanks to papists, not other protestants...
The opposite happened to my father. I was born in Latin America, overwhelmingly Catholic and stridently anti-protestant, and much less tolerant towards non-catholic religious groups then what Catholics experienced in the US. A region without true religious tolerance and religious freedom until the second half of the 20th century. The 19th century there was unstable, and a fight between classic liberals inspired by the French and American revolution, and conservatives. My father never was exposed to what Protestants truly believed, and his generation, like many for hundreds of years was nearly universally baptized as Roman Catholic. While everything that Grodi was talking about was occurring in the American colonies, Spanish territories had already expelled Muslims and Jews from their lands, and the Inquisition was going strong. Approved Bibles in Spanish Bibles [available to the public] had not been approved by the RC church until 20th century, and experience of millions of Roman Catholics was that the reading of scripture was just not part of the culture of Catholic religious life.
This framing of history is too biased. Here he's presenting the mean Puritans versus the noble Catholics. That's not accurate history. During the same time all this was going on in Puritan New England, take a look at what was going on in the territories controlled by Spain in this hemisphere. The biggest Catholic territories where to the south, and those places were not wonderful havens for religious tolerance and religious freedom. What did the Roman Catholic controlled Americas do and say about protestants, jews, and those not in agreement with the Roman Catholic Church? The thriving Spanish Jews who had lived in the Iberian peninsula for centuries essentially experienced a removal and an uprooting. If there was an animosity and suspicion between Romans and Protestants, it was a two-way street, the Catholic side was more than guilty of their share of crimes and intolerance. Latin American countries, formerly catholic, and for hundreds of years ruled by the crown of Spain which was much more intolerant towards Protestants, and creating a culture where religious life did not involve the reading of Scripture, and where it was only until after the second Vatican council that religious tolerance became a reality in Latin America. Give me a break. This is an entirely biased presentation by Grodi.
I love the Journey Home. I am currently in RCIA classes and very grateful for all of the stories I get to hear. Thank you all for all of the information you provide for our learning.

Love the Journey Home Network. Watching began my Journey back to the Catholic Church.
Diane Sic gala thanks be to God! Welcome Home & God Bless!
I try to watch it every Monday, or at least DVR it.
Thank you Marcus and all who work at EWTN. God bless you all.
Forever grateful to Mother Angelica.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you Marcus...Catholicism is beautiful, where death does not have the last word...I believe in the Communion of Saints.
Marcus is great

I am English. Grew up in the Church of England but I have come across more anti Catholism since living in the U.S. than I ever did in England.

So very true. Read the Early Church history. The Early Church Fathers. The Eucharist was always the center of worship.
Nonsense. The last supper was for a memorial and nothing else. Obviously nothing changes.
That's called having supper together and discussing how to spread the Gospel, not performing a church service and eating flesh with blood.
