This had to be one of my favorite games on Atari when I was a kid. I remember bobbing my head to the song and eventually finishing the game. It's funny to know now that all I needed was the ring, chick and lion, which I thought was a scared monkey. (shivering knees)
@it4040 Yes, he was comparing how they should follow in Mega Man 9's footsteps by making a new Pitfall on a new console, but making it look and feel old.
Never played this one, but the fact that there are checkpoints and it's WAY better than the NES version, it looks like a cool game. By the way, what capture card do you use?
and the fact that Super Pitfall makes you do infinitely difficult things, particularly the 4 pairs of vines in the underground kingdom, and if you fail you get punished by having to get back there and doing it ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL over again .
Is it me or dose this seem to have a lot of the... I wouldn't say elements but, maybe design ethic of Cirby Epic Yarn. You die easaly but check points are all around so it's not so frustrating. You get set back for dieing but mostly just in points. So for new players it's not a punishing but for those who like a chalenge it's still there.

hold on! it's NOT a scared monkey??? I must check out the manual in the box at my bro's...
I used to play that game constantly when I first recieved back in 1984. My friends couldn't get enough that game either.
this game was ahead of its time
apparently
You should check out the "Adventurer's Edition" for the other consoles. They have an additional area to complete after you beat the game.

I think the song for Pitfall 2 is the theme for Pitfall 3d: Beyond the Jungle. I think that was an excelent game and it had Bruce Cambel as the lead!
I played 'The Mayan Adventure' which was pretty good.
Nice and neat review like always. and no swearing which I love and respect. Thanks.
Still recall playing this game on the Commodore 64 18 years ago. What an old fuck I am.
Your videos are awesome!!
Who could have guessed that a good game like this could have such a god-awful sequel (Super Pitfall)?
I still got PF2 5200 ( is way better due to the 2nd level cavern after quickclaw )
@starsoldier1
isnt there a megaman 9?
Does anyone else remember the instruction manual being in all German? Not that you really needed it but it was kind of weird for an American release.
Good to have some new videos thx good review
Great review sir, this retro gamer approves this video = )
I always thought when I was a kid that the first pitfall game had an ending...
Anyone find it funny that the water effects in this game are better than in Super Pitfall?
and the fact that Super Pitfall makes you do infinitely difficult things, particularly the 4 pairs of vines in the underground kingdom, and if you fail you get punished by having to get back there and doing it ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL over again .
@pacguy19 You are right. I just didn't pay attention to this part. Anyway is still a good review.

I thought The Mayan Adventure was pretty good. I never played any of the ones after that though.
@PikaPower131313 To be honest, you didn't use any capitalization and you had something like an ellipses x10. That's pretty boring to read.
@SCBianchi
Or a legendary game... actually, if the game is legendary, it can't get better by graphics.
A really good game for the 2600, looks awesome and sounds really good pitty other Atari games weren't like this
I have this game...i must play it now...
Too bad they couldn't make a Pitfall 3 like an Atari 2600 game kinda like Mega Man 9 on the newer consoles.
@PikaPower131313 What the hells wrong wrong with his voice?
pause at 3:43 and look at his legs. They resemble something...
and the fact that you won't find yourself stuck and having to reset the game in super pitfall. sorry about the barrage of comments i put
wierd how the nes (later console) super pitfall isawful and the atari 2600 (earlier console) is better
@PikaPower131313 At least it is more exciting than your text
Now that i think about it, Im starting to see super pitfall as a really bad remake of pitfall 2.
you forgot to mention how he ducks in super pitfall. he's only about a centimeter shorter. it's as pathetic as it sounds.
