Stories from the Cabecar First Nation | LEAF Costa Rica

A 22-mile hike from the nearest vehicle-accessible road, the Cabecar First Nation is one of three communities partnering with LEAF International. Culture Keeper Luis Salazar teaches hundreds of students and community members ceremonial and medicinal healing practices. In honor of World Indigenous Month, we share a story of healing from Luis.
"Here I (Luis Salazar) am doing a ceremony for a person on the mountain of Olan. The young one was orphaned, so in our culture, it is Mother Nature that always protects her. This ceremony is protection from sadness.
