Offering more sporty appeal, visual impact and versatility than ever before, the all-new 2025 BMW X3 remains the dynamic choice for everyday use, weekend adventures and cross-country road trips. A new design language gives the fourth-generation Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) for the premium mid-size segment a much more advanced exterior appearance and an air of dynamic elegance. High-quality materials, a more generous standard specification, advanced digitalization and the new BMW iDrive with QuickSelect based on BMW Operating System 9 set the tone for the premium ambience inside the progressively designed cabin.
The new BMW X3 heralds significant improvements in efficiency and dynamic performance in both the 4-cylinder and high-performance 6-cylinder variants, and these changes coincide with a change in model names. The two models will be called the BMW X3 30 xDrive and the BMW X3 M50 xDrive, thus removing the “i” from the model name that previously indicated fuel injection. In future, the “i” will only be used in the names of all-electric BMW models.
The aura of modernity and the improved product content of the all-new 2025 BMW X3 provide the ideal basis for adding another chapter to the success story of the BMW X3 that began 20 years ago. Since first positioning the SAV segment in the upper middle class, it has been instrumental in the steady increase in popularity of the BMW X models and indeed became the brand’s best-selling model in 2023. The new BMW X3 will be assembled for the US market at the BMW Group Plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, using a production process that focuses on conserving resources and circularity. The market launch will begin in the fourth quarter of 2024.
The new design language emphasizes distinctive proportions.
A new design language for the exterior gives the fourth generation of the BMW X3 an almost monolithic overall appearance with distinctive BMW X model proportions. Generously proportioned surfaces combine with just a few clearly defined lines to create a clearly structured exterior design that is reduced to the essential elements. The new BMW X3 is 1.3 inches longer than its predecessor, measuring 187.2 inches overall, while the width has increased by 1.1 inches to 75.6 inches. Together with the 1-inch reduction in vehicle height to 65.4 inches and the wider tracks, this creates a very powerful and sporty appearance.
The large BMW kidney grille at the upright front of the new BMW X3 exudes an air of confident presence. A new inner structure for the grille, consisting of vertically and diagonally arranged bars, adds a fresh touch. The BMW Iconic Glow contour lighting, standard on the X3 M50 xDrive and optional on the X3 30 xDrive, creates a continuous line around each element of the grille. The daytime running lights, side marker lights and direction indicators in the LED headlights are now produced by L-shaped, overlapping light sources. Full LED headlights with cornering light functions and blue design details are optionally available, as are the M Shadowline headlights.
Bold side skirts and a roofline that extends to the rear end are distinctive features of the new model’s sporty silhouette. The distinctly flared wheel arches create a significant impression of width at the rear. The flush rear window is flanked by a long roof spoiler and adjacent side air deflectors. The X3 30 xDrive models are equipped with exhaust tailpipes that are invisibly integrated into the rear apron. A new interpretation of the characteristic T-shaped graphic and a satin-finished horizontal bar with integrated direction indicators help to give the rear lights a particularly modern appearance.
There are one solid and nine metallic paint colours available for the new X3 M50 xDrive and eleven metallic paint shades available for the new BMW X3 30 xDrive, including the new Dune Grey metallic finish. For the next level of personalization, models assembled at BMW Group Plant Spartanburg will also be available with more than fifteen BMW Individual paint finishes.
The new BMW X3 30 xDrive is equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels as standard, with 20-inch and 21-inch packages available as options. The optional M Sport package creates an exceptionally dynamic appearance with features such as 19-inch M alloy wheels and design cues designed to optimize airflow and aerodynamic balance. The optional M Sport Professional Package enhances the M Sport content by adding the Iconic Glow kidney grille (standard on the X3 M50 xDrive), a choice of red or blue painted brake calipers, M Shadowline headlights, Full LED headlights with cornering light function and Extended Shadowline upholstery.
