Any NCAP body's crash test rating also does not guarantee safety. We are responsible for our own life. If you passed license test by giving bribe , drive your car at illegal speeds on highway , no car is safe for you. Also , All these crash tests rating happens at 64 kmph with rule of 50% deform at 100% impact. Means , you driving a 5 star rated car above speed of 120, makes that car 0 star rated. And so much obsession with safety rating, Ans me. Mahindra Scorpio N got 5 star at GNAP but got 0 star at Australian NCAP. Now you tell me if that car is safe or not. In the same test this version of swift got 1 star at Australian NCAP, making it more safer then scorpio N. Different NCAP bodies have different safety standards. A 5 star rated car in one NCAP test will have 0 star in another. Safety is not about Airbags only , that's true. Airbags & there star system is about passive safety. What about active safety ? A safe car is something which you can easily control in the scene of accident & that requires chassis , good breaks, good maintained car. People get so obsessed with 5 star that they buy a car , never wear seat belts, hardly check tyre pressure, lazy at maintenance of the car, drive totally irresponsible n highway , talking on phone , scolling reels. While doing so if they crash their car , they blame car companies. Real safety starts with leaning PROPER DRIVING SKILLS. A bad driving in a volvo will make volvo unsafe , not the other way around. Please grow up. Safety rating also happens with car crashing into an still object at 64kmph. That has very little to do with real life accidents. You driving a 5 star car & a heavy truck coming at you will crash your car, not the truck. Because a heavy vehicle will always get away with crashes. A car's outer sheet mater has nothing to with keeping you safe. It's the inner structure of car which helps you. Most of the cars comes with ESC ABD sensors, making it very hard to go your car out of control unless you are a really really bad driver. So again. A safe car is something which can prevent the accidents in the 1st place & to do so you need a car which you can easily control. And to easily control your car , YOU need to learn PROPER DRIVING SKILLS.
