Test rode the 1600B twice here just the other day at Bike Week. Came away immensely impressed. Unbelievable power... this'd smoke any H-D bagger. And I have a '19 Limited with a Stage III 117 kit on the motor. I love it but this bike's performance is next level - and at a price very competitive with Harley. I have to chuckle at the "not a chance" comments. You could spend more than twice what this bike costs on an accessorized CVO and not come close to its capabilities.
In 2019 I traded my 2013 K1600 GTL with 53K on it for a 2019 Gold Wing DCT. I really like the Wing and the DCT and I do not have any negative to say about it. Although it is not, the K1600 felt much heavier then the Wing. After put 19K on the Wing, I traded back to another K1600 in the summer of 2020. The power, the sound, and the sporty feel of the BMW is a huge rush!
February 2024, I got myself the K1600GTL from 2022. Such a great bike. It is top heavy, but when you know this and get used to it, the bike get’s so familiar. I absolutely love the torque and the engine is so freaking smooth!! Great review. Thanks for sharing!!
The K bike has lots more power than the wing, and more nifty in the corner, but I found it more top heavy. The wing is such a great ride and the low center of gravity makes it hard to beat. Both are great bikes,! The BMW dealer near me SUCKS so that doesn't help them lol
Just went from a street glide to a 1600B after 40 yrs of HD. No regrets. Love it. Way more power, better handling. Pulls hard all the way through the rpm’s. took a month to get used to the seat to pegs position.
I had a K 1600 B and now a 2022 Road Glide Special. Completely 2 different bikes. Ive been on long distance trips on both and loved them equally. I wanted the feel of the Harley after owning mine B for 4 years. If they ever come up with something different than the hideous R 18 series, I would look at them again.
@@russellnewcomb8542Some Dealers are doing flashes. Just for a map, it's about $200. You can send in your ECU and have it flashed. You can buy a handheld for about $500'700 and flash it at home.
I have a 2018 k1600. I’m sure 6 years later they upgraded the Bluetooth/ Apple play. Remus was the only exhaust upgrade option now there is the Kropovich. How easy is it to take on and off the tour pack?
The foot pegs are awesome on long rides. I came from a Yamaha FJR1300 in which, after a 2 hour ride my legs would be complaining. With the K1600B all I have to say is... 😀
FLYANDRIDE15, I'm curious to hear your thoughts compared to your CVO. I'm considering the K1600b this spring and all my friends ride HD. I love the comradery of the HD, but bang for buck the K1600 seems like a no brainer. The current CVO is almost twice the starting price...
Thanks for watching and commenting. Man, that’s a tough choice. Here’s what I will say, they are two completely different machines and I would argue can’t even be compared on the same class(despite they are both “baggers”). I think the CVO is the ultimate cruising and all around best baggers out there and if I were buying for first time, I would go with CVO. That said, if you want value for money, super fast, highly capable sport touring rocket that happens to have bags, go with k1600. That help? 😆

A new CVO is also more than I'd be willing to spend, but the '24 Street Glide is only a few grand more before I start adding on options. Maybe I'll demo both and go from there. Thanks again! :)
@@FLYANDRIDE15The 2024's have the V4 now, so a different animal than my 2022 with a V2. I'll have to keep an eye out for your review on that. I had considering upgrading in 2023, but I have the "Black and Steel" color scheme and unfortunately they didn't offer it on the 2023 or 2024 models. I also put on the Termignoni full race exhaust and up-tune and didn't want to have to buy that all over again at $3k+ ;)
I’ve been riding Harleys for 35 years. I currently ride a 2012 FLHTK Stage II. If I was to buy another new bike to replace my Harley, it would be the GW DCT. I love the 7 Speed Dual Clutch Transmission. Besides, I want something different, and a new Harley, isn’t much different than mine albeit the radio and motor.
I sold my 18 Street Glide and picked up one of these. I also test road a new Goldwing. Im still getting used to this but I really like it so far. Kind of like a really big sport bike that is comfortable. It has a few small things I dont like but over all its a great bike. Did I mention its way faster than my stage 3 Harley...lol
I can't say I'd want to own a K1600, but I do own a gen6 Goldwing Tour(so that answers that question). The Wing is just a good riding bike that's super comfortable, especially for my wife when she's aboard. I'm sure the K1600 would walk all over the Wing performance wise, but on the road, in the reality of riding the Wing has plenty good power and handling. After 10 years on a Victory XC, I finally got used to having my feet under me on the Honda, now my feet spend most of the time there and I hardly ever use the "highway pegs" I put on for a feet forward position.
The K1600B is next level touring. I love mine. I have a 2022 Harley Streetglide ST. I do not compare them. It would be like comparing a BMW Alpina B5 GT to a Mustang Super Cobra.
@@FLYANDRIDE15 I also own a 2022 Kawasaki ZX-14R. That bike is really "smooth." I can use it in sixth gear at 50 miles per hour, and it's a sweet ride. With it, I don't feel any noise from the imperfections of the asphalt, something that the BMW brake discs do all the time. The BMW gearbox is efficient, yes, and as precise as the ZX-14R, but infinitely clunky. The BMW drive shaft... you have to get used to ride this bike to avoid it making noises with each acceleration/deceleration. And finally, the BMW is unstable at high speed and for that reason, it is electronically limited to 65% of its operating capacity. Not to mention the terrible lag that the accelerator has, as it comes from the factory.. .All the topics that have been discussed in the K1600 forums. Are not just personal opinions, but a general consensus. In general, assuming that it is a motorcycle developed as a luxurious vehicle, I see too many defects to correct to maintain that status. They are not huge defects, but come on BMW...have a little more vocation in your "high-end" motorcycles!

Fellow Riders, I have two Harleys presently. I'm thinking of trading the 2018 CVO Limited. The new CVOs, ST, doesn't impress me. Looking at Indians and BMWs. The Indian Roadmaster is quite nimble. Its powerband seems to pull strong. Want to roadtest the BMW 1600B. There is nothing like the smoothness from a four or six cylinder. Thanks for the review!
I'm mostly a lifetime HD rider, but after a roughly two-year drought, I bought a new z900rs café (it's the retro 70s look of the Z-1s, mixed with modern tech). Anyway, I just wanted something different for an interim. I doubt I'll ever sell it, but add to it. Always had a Softail and a bagger when I was single. Well, I'm single again and broke, so it'll be a spell before I get my 2nd bike for the stable. I'm wondering how this compares to the Kawa zx14r? I hear they're pretty darn comfy and smooth - and probably faster than this beemer. Anyone know? With the right bars and bags...? Used ones are hella cheap. EDIT - I know most people would say the Concurs is a better comparison, but I believe it's out of production. Same engine though.
Driven the 2024 K1600 Bagger today. Conclusion. BMW loves America. The driving experience is closer to an extremely heavy tailfin Cadillac with a creamy multi-cylinder engine and impressive road holding. The RT is the better motorcycle for motorcyclists in Europe. The Bagger is the better modern car. The cockpit tablet with its calculator design fits in very well.
These handlebars are weird😂 A set of Remus exhausts and it’s golden. Personally I think it’s a good bike overall for Europe not the US cause distances are way smaller than we got here. Nice video brother ride safe
I disagree you could ride these cross country with no trouble whatsoever motors are super smooth I own both Harley Davidson and the case 1600 they both have their purpose but the case 1600 is leaps and bounds ahead of Harley Davidson ride, power, handling and breaking! and it’s less cubic inch than a Harley. It’s 100.3 in.³ and shaft single sided so it’s easy to remove your rear wheel. It’s an amazing motorcycle but it doesn’t make me want to sell my Harley. It’s a bike that you add.
