  • I'll show you a VCR from the 90s, a Sony brand. Pure Japanese cassette recorder. I will insert a videotape into this VHS tape recorder and perform rewinding and playback.

    Was born in the early 90s and I have always loved old Japanese electronic products. Owned many of them and I still have them today. Quality was very good and they were made to last forever.
    As Marty Mcfly from Back of the future said: All the best stuff is made in Japan 🙂

    You know the VCR is powerful when it fast forwards super fast and doesn’t break when you press eject and it ejects successfully

    Nice, I have a Sony SLV 757 from 1989 and a Slv e7 from 93. Best vcrs on the market.

    That's a great-looking Sony VHS VCR for sure. I'm particularly fond of units made by JVC (I have Super VHS ET units made by JVC that play standard VHS tapes as well as Super VHS tapes) since JVC invented VHS in the first place.
    Regardless of those brands like Sony, JVC, Toshiba, Mitsubishi, etc, one has to love the whirring sounds of those VCR's and admire the sheer genius of how those units operate to provide so much enjoyment. :)

    2:05 There seems to be a lot of flickering and flashing going on with your 'Titanic' VHS tape which is due to it being demagnetized a bit (possibly after having been left on top of a TV or near speakers or magnets, or having been dropped a number of times, etc.).
    It's also possible that the tracking may have to be adjusted on the VCR or the VCR tape heads need a cleaning with either a wet-style or dry-style head cleaner VHS tape. Good luck. :)

      @NatalieRetroStuff  5 місяців тому +2

      I think this is the second option. This VCR also shows other films with interference. I tested Titanic on another device, it works well.

      @@NatalieRetroStuff if you clean it be careful with the kind of head cleaner that use fluid I used one like that and my VHS quit working. But when I used the dry one I had no issues and it fixed the picture. The flicker you see may be a camera sync issue as well. It probably looks worse on camera then in person

    I love to use the RF cord on my vhs on my 4K tv? Why? Because the VHS ouputs the video on NTSC channel 3-which no longer exists. You are literally broadcasting an extinct channel untill your TV digitizes it and upscales it

    Keep your mode switche clean out like you should everything proven online how clean out a mode switch in a VCR player if you don't know what a mode switch is

    • @TorontoJon
      @TorontoJon 5 місяців тому +1

      Trust me; nobody living in the 70's, 80's, and 90's like me ever referred to a "mode switch" or "cleaning a mode switch" and average consumers like me never cleaned mode switches either when it came to VCR maintenance. Instead, the tape heads of the VCR need to be cleaned from time to time using either a wet-style or dry-style head cleaner VHS tape. That usually does the trick to keep the picture clear and to prevent gunk wrecking VHS tapes (provided the tapes aren't demagnetized or chewed up or were dropped repeatedly resulting in permanent demagnetization affecting image quality).
      The average person should not attempt to take their VCR apart to clean the mode switch when in most cases, a tape head cleaning VHS tape will make a huge difference in picture quality.

      People like myself are whiching vhs movies 7 days of the week people like myself are cleaning out mode switches in VCR players I know everything about VCR players then you do

    • @TorontoJon

      @@joshuapowell1868, that's nice. I've watched (There's no such thing as "whiching") VHS movies since 1979. Have you? Not likely.
      If only you wrote English properly and knew how to create sentences with correct punctuation as I do, particularly since your surname is "Powell", so English is your primary language, I presume. You need to work on your language skills.
      Average people are not fiddling with mode switches and haven't for decades of owning VHS VCR's back in the 80's and 90's, but there certainly are videos showing how fixing or cleaning mode switches eliminates VCR's chewing tapes, etc.
      My philosophy is to never fix what isn't broken. If one's VCR is working properly with no issues, just clean the tape heads regularly. If it starts to have major issues and won't play tapes properly, check out repair videos if one has the DIY skills or take the machine to a repair shop provided it's worth repairing (but on the other hand, VCR's are cheap in thrift stores ranging in price from $10 to $25, so sometimes replacing one's machine with a used one in working condition is a more affordable option).
