    Great video! About the Cholla cactus (aka teddy bear cactus), a great tool to keep on hand in the Sonoran desert is a cheap, plastic comb (large tooth comb). Also, it's pronounced "choy-a". 🙂

    Nice work Ben, I enjoyed the content, especially when u showed the Map Overlays, really helped get a sense of the place. At about 11:18, fun video of John navigating a rough section, no wonder he wanted to get body armor.

    Kofa wilderness experienced several nights of flash floods during the monsoon season Aug/Sept 2022. Castle Domes Mine Rd a commonly used trail washed away leaving the terrain and road unrecognizable a number of miles back. It was very hard to follow using my GPS and drove off track several times. I ended up turning around, before entering one of the last narrow washes. It could have very well been washed out and impassable.

    Snorkels are amazing for keeping the dust out. I have one on my Skoolie. Funny how people think they are for fording creeks or rivers.

    The backroad passing wilbanks and hoodoo definitely is way more rocky this year from last year

    Looks like a fun trip! Thank you for taking us along with you. What camera(s) are you shooting with? The camera you use to film hand held looks to have a global shutter, what kind is it?

      On this trip, just a GoPro Hero8 and my pixel 5, but in the past I have utilized an old canon DSLR for mostly panning shots. The Gopro + pixel are super easy to jump out of the rig and capture quick video, and quite honestly, the pixel captures some really nice and sharp video without the fisheye affect you get from the wide lens on the Hero.

    loved the video, do you think pulling a small 5x8 Tear Drop trailer threw the entire trail would any trouble? If so, what would you recommend?

    • @OverlandTrailGuides
      @OverlandTrailGuides  Рік тому

      You should be fine as long as your trailer has decent clearance, but please note the section down by the Castle Dome mountains was hit hard by this year's Monsoon season. I'd check with FWS on the condition of the trails in the southern section of Kofa.

    Please respect wildlife and drone requirements by not flying drones in the Wildlife Preserver.

    • @OverlandTrailGuides
      @OverlandTrailGuides  Рік тому

      All of the drone shots are outside of Kofa wilderness on BLM land where drones are permitted. If drones were permitted in Kofa, we would've used it a lot more.
