Saw them 3 times in about 10 days opening for Black Flag back in 85 touring for their first album. Brings back memories. Still have some picks that Dave Chandler gave me.
Saw them at a basement show in 86'. It was a hardcore punk crowd, but everybody was way into it. One kid kept yelling, "Play something fast!" Nobody paid any attention to him. We just enjoyed the impressive show.
this is true doom rock, the way SV were at the start: minimalistic, angry and moody. Later they veered towards stoner, and that territory is way overcrowded. There's got to be more of such simplistic doom, just a trio.
I agree. My band is just a trio. The muti-Guitar shit is overrated and unnecessary. Unless you're doing harmonies like My Dying Bride or Candlemass, Doom should be just one guitar. It leaves more room for Bass (like Sleep). Stoner Doom is the most popular form of Doom and too many of the Stoner fans don't like the other Doom styles.
Got into Vitus in the mid '80s and would disagree that later LP's like Mournful Cries, Vol 5 or Die Healing were more stoner rock than doom METAL records, ha
@@HOLYPARISHOFDOOM The vocals probably does it. Wino has that raspy biker vocals that does not really fit SV’s mood of music. How I wish Reagers have sang on Born Too Late and Mournful Cries.
totally agreed. and lol as if the "stoner" music scene wasnt overcrowded enough when you made this comment 6 years ago. its way wayyy worse now and trendy as fuck i referred to kyuss as rock n roll recently and was corrected by someone saying "stoner rock". what a bunch of image conscious know nothing idiots
@@christhayil8354 That's who I'm talking about. The singer is Wino, but the guy who asks Wino to make the coke announcement was Mario Lalli !!!Peace.......

From humble beginnings....

He influenced me greatly….as a bassist. My shit nasty.

Legends of Doom
Cameraman was Scott Reeder of "Across the River" and "Kyuss fame.
Seriously?! So rad
wicked! awesomeness!!
Something wholesome about Wino announcing that they are selling Cokes over on the side. But then again pot tends to give you dry mouth pretty bad.
Wino's first show with the band. They were opening for D.R.I. here too !

Doom on! Stay Doom!

Seen them a few times in the day = twice with Trouble and once with Raven and Viking
Total Inferno!
2:56 Scott Reeder?

That camcorder mic could barely keep up! 😂

Wino is great and all, but I prefer Reagers in this band.
Mr. Timebomb Man that’s why I’m thankful for the Obsessed
