His acoustic tracks are the best IMO as well, but I love the way he challenges himself too.

I love this song. I think it's amazing. Ren set out to put out a hip hop album last year and so we got The Sick Boi album and every track on it are more traditional hip hop inspired with Ren's flare on them. he produces his own beats, mixes and masters all the songs as well. he did do acoustic versions of some of the songs on the album but the acoustic versions are only videos on yt.

Check out Loco. It’s all vocal manipulation for the beats. No instruments on the track. It’s a BANGER! 🔥 Like others said. He loves to mix and play with everything he has access to.

Ren often uses autotune, and all kind of vocal effects, and I sometimes like the decision, for example the multiple vocal effect here. It creates fitting atmosphere. I don't like the autotune in the intro. But his production decisions (he produces his music himself) are based on thought, using it in part of songs and different kind, clearly because of an artistic choice (I don't think he does it to reach greater audience, he simply is born in 1990 and thinks differently about these things compared to an old woman like me), so it usually doesn't bother me so much.
Usually nowadays these pitch altering methods are used without thinking, always, just because it can be done and often taking away so much from the music and expression.
Ren doesn't do that in the studio (use without an artistic thought) and he also has these live and one take videos where he doesn't deliver "perfect" vocals (sometimes also in studio versions) and does not play the guitar "perfectly", recognizing the importance of raw emotions and the importance of non-rigid performance of free expression.
I would like him to use these modern production methods less in the studio since I find his solutions in live performances usually more interesting. Of course most of his live performances still have lot of post-production before released on UA-cam, like very careful mixing, echo etc. put not pitch correction, to my knowledge.
In this song I like the production except in the beginning and also in a short part later in the song. But this is a great song and not a mainstream song. In Genesis, my favorite rap song by him, I would have liked him not to use the chipmunk like voices in the chorus but sing it more in the style he does so well in the acoustic version.

Ren actually started put producing beats at the age of 12. I love his acoustic stuff a lot too. But i love this song. The begining part is him singing in Welsh and us meant to be like a choir eulogy of himself. Ren will always be an artist that pushes the limits of sound and visuals. He plays You might end up liking only half of his banquet. There is no auro tune in this one, but there are lits of mixing tools he uses.

Ren live, with his guitar is my favorite Ren. Not trying to be creepy, but I think I know where you are from; me too. I know you know music. I also know you will like Ren, in The Big Push, Wade in the Water/Trouble so hard/ Nina Simone. ❤

I'm with on this one Tre, not one of my favourites. When you see him live and even busking (street performing) its pure raw and downright brilliant whereas I think this is "good" and thats the difference between him and others - he doesn't need to be over produced and manipulated unlike some less talented mainstream artists.

You missed a treat with the lyric video, it adds. The intro was a choir, not ren. Ren loves to mix too, he is a musician and an artists that up until this stage had not had the money to play with these things. He respects your view as do I. There will always be sweets in the sweet box not everyone likes.

The intro was Ren, made to sound like a choir, singing his own words. No choirs were hired, or harmed, during the making of this video! :)
