When it comes to improving on different skills, I feel like the step you make out of your comfort zone should not be massive. For me, if I can't 90% clear a map, I consider it a fail regardless of HP passing it. This is because I am probably incapable of actually reading the map or / spamming to try to hit the notes. I feel this becomes especially important as you push into 4 star and beyond where the speed and stamina required becomes exponentially more and more.
If you are not 90% clearing a map, it's completely fine to just use HT then increase the rate from there with osu trainer because these steps are reasonable

HP pass should be good enough for progress to be shown, the stamina needed for full rate will help improve much more than doing HT and after you get the HP pass you will feel more confident in your capabilities on playing harder skillsets
ofc if you cant HP pass then should lower it to 0.75-0.9 rates
for me on most maps i require basically 93+ or else i quit but on training maps i start at HP pass and visually being able to see my acc improve over time, once i can S consistently i will push myself harder. i will never put HT on training maps, leave that mod for rebirth 💀

@@geo-lite69personally, i prefer playing maps i can't HP pass wih EZ mod enabled, and sometimes NF.
And it only happens on maps that are way above my skillset, so i can improve faster. (osu!mania)

Couldn't agree more. I find it hard to feel motivated to improve when all I'm surrounded by is score posts way out of my skill level. I've come to the realization that if I actually want to improve as a player it's important to put the ego away and face my challenges head on regardless of how much I don't like it. I just wish that it would be more normalized to focus on "bad skill sets" rather than setting top plays. The more you work on one skill set while ignoring others the harder it becomes to find charts you actually enjoy playing. At the end of the day we all play the game for fun. The more well-rounded of a player you are, the more you can actually enjoy the game.

For me, a score is worthy of attention if it took first place in the local top, or if it turned out to be better than the top score in some way. That is, it is not so much the score itself that is important, but how much better it is than your previous/best score or the score of another player.

oh hey it’s you! I got this in my recommended randomly, and watching through this is actually a really important topic to talk about, so thanks for that. I have personal experience of sharing scores I’m proud of on UA-cam and not getting any views at all, but posting a score I’m kinda proud of and it exploding with views. It can be tough to deal with. The most valuable point I took from this video was definitely having friends to share your stuff with, and having rivals… I would not be where I am today without them.
Anyways great video, I thought this was really good! Subbed. :3

What kept me playing to this game, even after all i saw on how lower-ranked players were treated on my national community and my most recent unban that endured half year, was how i treated my motivation, priorities and goals by playing only for fun, but also, seeing the maps as music and just playing what i really like without going further off my skill limit, since i still have that ego inside me. How the community enviroment is can be overwhelming for some players that deal with being stuck, not only on terms of gameplay, but also on their mindset, limitating themselves to retry-spamming something they CANNOT DO or just farming. And don't get me wrong, i consider that experimenting with your own way to enjoy things is priority to improvement, but applying this to osu and taking on mind that, no matter what, doing something repeteadly without analyzing what are you doing, it gets difficult to see osu as a "enjoyable" rhythm game as many others. Just wanted to share my thoughts about your vid, but also want to share: No matter what anyone says about your gameplay, your the only one defines the way you play. DON'T ENGAGE WITH PEOPLE WHO DON'T TREAT YOU AS A HUMAN BEING, BASED ON A FUCKING GAME. Be kind, Be Happy :D (Edit: ik the advice is not totally related with what hecka talked about, but i just wanted to point out to take really care with who you engage)

im a 4k only player who grinds A ranks on hard maps, low S ranks and accuracy jack scores and i really think everyone should do whatever they want and is fun for them in this game, caring about what other people think in a game where u press keys in your keyboard to falling notes in the screen is really stupid
