I have been watching Joe Cartoon for fourteen years now and I love this "face of the man" kind of thing from you guys. My friends and I used to skip class to go into the computer lab and laugh at your cartoons. Thanks for the good times and the music you are making now is really special. I hope you get the same kind of success from it that you got from your cartoons. Even more so.
I mean it, you're a true, hidden treasure. The honesty and genuine realness that your songs exhibit are beyond beautiful. Plus your cartoons kick ass. "I told you, man, I'm crazy..."
That abrupt cut when it was raining was kinda jarring. Great little documentary. As a growing man now that had watched your cartoons growing up, this kinda makes me emotional. Your music is actually really unique, and you should definitely continue.
Joe Shields there's gonna be a second album?? YIPPEE ... whoawhoami is right ... we all remember that big "dot com wave" and we all grew up with your work, and this was a great turning point in your career ... just a random tip: don't go fishin' with the strangers in the the dark! :D ... just kiddin ;) ... have fun
love seeing this much of you Joe. Know more about you now than I have in the 17 years I've been watching your toons. Thought this music was really great enough for me to by the album and the videos have all been spot on and super cool having different artist work on each. You the man Joe. Keep creating and amazing me!
I bought the Joe Cartoon DVD box set way back in the day when I was a kid in middle school. I watched them tons of times and every extra features they had on them. It's awesome seeing this documentary and seeing you're still active! keep it up Joe! the music sounds great!
Thank you Joe. Your cartoons were the best, I always loved them and you made the internet a better place. Gonna buy the album soon. Can't wait for No2. Keep being awesome
I have been enjoying Joe Cartoon since 1998...Never fails to make me laugh, I just turn 59 a couple of weeks ago and I don't think I could ever get tired of the characters...It's finally nice to see the face behind all this humor. Love the songs, Love the sound of the acoustics guitar ...great video thanks
Joe, you seem very different of a person than I expected from the majority of your videos. You seem like a really cool, laid back kinda guy. And your son is amazing on the electric axe.
Whaaa a real doc... dang i did not know i missed this stuf so much. I remember early 2000 end 90s. This thing was the bomb back then. Flash and a dial modem... hahahaha
Great stuff! Hope the album is released on CD I want a physical copy of it.Always loved laughing at your cartoons the music is the icing on the cake, happy for you Joe, glad you've kept us entertained for so long. Bring on album number 2! :)
I was interested to see what happened to you after the internet boom died down, so I'm glad that this documentary exists. Other internet animators, especially during the early Newgrounds era, seem young and interested in modern media such as video games. It's interesting to see someone making internet cartoons to be older and interested in outdoors such as fly fishing, and music such as folk.
I’ve always wanted to see who the man behind the cartoons were. No joking, this has to be one of the best, most enjoyable documentaries I’ve had the chance to view! And that’s some damn good music, too! From one Michigander to another; cheers! 🍻
I used to be a fanatic about JoeCartoon. When he came out with the Church of Joe and T-Shirt, immediately bought that and asked him to name me Pope of his church on my MySpace and he did. Wish I kept a screenshot or something. Lost to the ages.
This was so Kool seeing u in real person. U r a manly man. Great to see u have other hobbies and surprised u switched careers but it made u great and my idol to my eyes.
I am really glad they mentioned the cartoons. They are still some of the best things that have ever happened on the internet. I enjoy you as both a cartoonist and a musician. Started to really love your music! We still call them albums. There are a lot of people that still buy CDs. They want a collection. Keep doing what you love; You are an artist!
I think the combining of your music and animation is a great idea. Too bad you missed the "Mtv boom". But I guess if a person catches one "boom" in life they are fortunate. It appears what you really have in life is where you live-money is just a man made creation to see who has the biggest....stick..... I purchased your album and donated to the animators- you guys have been making me laugh for years!
When you say North West Michigan, how far north? Are you a refering to the U.P.? Are you a Yooper Joe? michigan is amazing, quite frankly anywhere there is wilderness is amazing! Beers to you sir!
Joe Shields I have loved your stuff for years brother. Lansing boy here. One quick question. Why in the hell are you using a fly rod at night? How the hell can you see to do the whip cast and wrist flicks and to get that fly dancing on the water?
Been watching since the beginning. Used to sit on atomfilms or whatever and watch all your shit and laugh till I cried. Thank you for all your work. Great tunes as well. Right now I'm looking for Lump on UA-cam but the only video I can find is of some jackass kid commentating over the whole thing.
i've probably been a fan since 98 or so, my brother showed me joecartoon.com and i think fattybigeye was on shockwave.com back in the day so i had a nice selection of entertainment despite having to deal with dial up. this was a fun video, i haven't gone fishing in a long damn time, i usually stick to saltwater what with being in florida and all, when my aforementioned brother had his boat we caught a bunch of saltwater cats, best damn fish i've ever eaten, it tasted like white meat chicken except softer. also haven't played guitar in a long time either since my amp decided to take a shit, ain't much for writing songs but i've learned quite a few songs i like. keep on making toons and songs and i'll keep on watching and listening.

That guitarist was fucking uff the hook! And he looked barely old enough to shave. Ree-spect!

Anyone know if the piano music that's used halfway through this video is Joe's or is it another artist's?
Where can I find Cousin Joe's first album? Where is the video for the song at 3:55?
twoshacks.com

What, do you got a fishing trainer?
So does mean the joe the animator is dead and now we have joe the song writer?
