Wondeeful instrument. We had a Welsh harpist at my college at university, on a music scholarship I believe. She gave some great recitals in the college chapel.

I think the Phoenician language/ancient Hebrew maps onto Gaelic . The Harp Of David and The lIon Of Judah very large on flags coat of arms .
Scotia and the Egyptian link add to the fact the harp has been he for much longer .

One thing you could add (although I may be wrong!) is that the harp is used on all official documents etc passports but is facing the wrong way as Guinness hold a Trademark for the symbol

What do you mean, facing the wrong way? As someone who owns and plays a harp, I can tell you it looks equally pretty from either side.

@@kathilisi3019 not necessarily the wrong side just all irish official documents passports the harp faces anti clockwise direction as the new irish govt in 1922 couldn't use the symbol facing the other way as it was copyrighted by guinness

@@anthonym3351 okay, I looked it up and it's true that Guinness holds the copyright for the "right facing" harp, and the government had to use the "left facing" harp for all other emblems. However, "right-facing" doesn't mean the right way around. It's just one of two possible positions. If you amended your statement in the original comment to "facing the other way", it would be correct.
