Cernunnos is the conventional name given in Celtic studies to depictions of the horned god of Celtic polytheism. The name itself is only attested once,on the 1st-century Pillar of the Boatmen, but depictions of a horned or antlered figure, often seated cross-legged and often associated with animals and holding or wearing torcs, are known from other instances. Nothing is known about the god from literary sources, and details about his name, his cult or his significance in Celtic religion are unknown.
cernunnos is believed to be the Gaulish name for the Celtic horned forest God Cernunnos name in Ireland Cernunnos is believed to be Crom do to stories of Crom having to do with nature and forest animal's and Torcs The name Herne however I think was used much later As a name mainly by the Britons/ English Not sure about the Welsh if they did or no or Cornish or Manx
Most certainly, I know this is a re-recording but the first Cruachan album Tuatha na Gael(where the original of this song first appeared) is pretty much a blue-print for modern Folk Metal as it should be heard nowadays I think
Probably one of my favorite songs of all time... I didn't like the Black Metal elements at first, but it's grown on me. Even as a Christian, I can say: Long live Cruachan!
Hmm...weird...the one I downloaded there was barely any fiddle like instrument and it sounded more "thicker and heavier". It was from the album Tuatha Na Gael"
Excellent Celtic folk/black metal. Classic song and a nice re-recording. Amazing band just like Primordial, Celtachor and Geasa
Umas das melhores melodias de flauta que já ouvi! Viva a Pã!!!

Dance for Cernunnos, dance for Celtic glory!
Nver Mind the Thrashin Guitar How about the thrashin Banjo??? Cruachan are single handedly Keeping irish music alive. Long May they Reign :-)
This song should be played every St. Patrick's day.
Cernunnos wouldn't want violence and death on his land, he would see the need to lay down our arms and make peace, and replant our forests.
Long may the Old Gods reign!! May the new god with his fear and lies be destroyed! Hail Cernunnos!
I don't even like black metal, but this got stuck in my head.
Cruachan doesn't sing ideologically, they sing about Irish culture.
Very true.
these guys would kick eluveities ass

You got the wrong album cover, this is from their debut Tuatha na Gael not Folk-Lore.
it was re-recorded as a bonus track on FolkLore

haha funny stuff :D
As one who has studied Celtic mythology, they are not the same at all. The horned god was more to the Celts like what Jesus is to Christians.
I think that is fairly obvious...but thank you?
@keelhauledlandlubber I just wondered wether the flute is really supposed so quite and flat oO I love the tune but it isn't well recorded =(

Cernnonos in Celtic mythology is the same thing as Baphomet.
Everything about this song is great except for the vocals. The lyrics are fine, I just hate the screaming.
