    I’m a doctor in Southern California. I’m so happy you guys are running these stories about insurance companies. So many of my colleagues, like myself , are leaving insurance plans because of the way they interfere in patient care. I spend more time on paperwork and documentation than I do actually treating patients. Thank you guys again for running the stories.

      Not really a nightmare-as a surgeon her OR should have multiple well trained RNs who know how to process these orders with insurance correctly. Like they said in the video- the hospital was erroneously attempting to charge insurance for an "overnight inpatient stay" when she was going to be monitored in the PACU for a few hours and sent home. Would you have liked to pay a higher copay because your surgeon's team is too moronic to bill you for the correct services?

    Going to start doing this for my critical limb ischemia patients. Patients at risk of extremity amputation require prior authorization inevitably delaying care, treatments are limited by the insurance companies stating they will not cover certain therapies. They claim said therapies are ‘experimental’ when there is an overwhelming amount of supporting data for them. And guess which insurance company is the most implicated? Yup. United.

      "Free Luigi" is "condoning murder" - It's everything America was designed to prevent. To find a different and better way than "murder the people at the top for ignoring the people at the bottom when it gets to be too much". Saying "Free Luigi" is saying "I'm not an American, i don't support the constitution". My 3 C's to the 3 D's are this. Condone - won't do it. Condemn - He didn't HAVE to kill the guy. It is reasonable to believe we'd still be here talking about this if he simply crippled or maimed him. Convict - Ya, 2nd degree murder. 1st degree probably. Terrorism? The DA should be disbarred and I half hope for Jury Nullification to back slap the Justice system for sticking politics into the court of law. I'd rather see this guy walk than watch what I feel is judicial corruption becuase some rich guys are scared throwing money at their donors.

    • @imnotmike
      @imnotmike 20 годин тому +1

      @@Beldan4 United Healthcare condones murder every day. It's not that they're ignoring the people at the bottom. It's that they're literally killing them. Brian Thompson killed hundreds of thousands of people. They will argue that they didn't kill anyone, they just set up the rules that had to be followed that lead to those deaths, but they didn't directly kill anybody. Well I would argue by the same token that Luigi didn't kill anyone, he just set the bullets into motion that lead to that death. It's the exact same argument.

    There is currently a shortage of medical professional health care people in this country and the heath care insurance companies as well as well as the corporate run hospitals, no longer run by medical professionals, but by corporate puppets that only goal is profits!
    They are on my list of price gouging and unfair business practices corporations in the country. Big oil and big pharma, also. Look, I don't want to deny any company a profits, but there are many that need to be regulated for price and care gouging.

    As a recently retired physician, a 23 hour observation stay is very different than a 24 hour admission
    The cost that the surgeon and hospital is allowed to charge is significantly different
    We did 23 hour short stays all the time, sometimes we might observe them for 6 , 8 , 10;hours and release them. But you get the same fee. If the patient was initially a23 hour short stay but wasn’t ready to go, we had to change it to 24 hour stay and justify why because it’s a big charge increase.
    Think about it, insurance companies want as many 23 hour observation stays
    The Hospital wants as many 24 hour + stays. Both parties have financial incentives

Hospitals are forced to push patients out too soon, because of this I had to be helicoptered back to the hospital for emergency surgery. This surgery involves delicate blood vessels and arteries being disconnected and reconnected. 6 nights in the hospitality should be the minimum. Employ more nurses and give the care that is required for patients proper healing.

    Does an inpatient overnight stay post-op look any different from an outpatient overnight stay post-op? Overly complicated hair splitting throughout the system = complicated IT systems = extra middle men everywhere each taking a cut of the money. The handful of big insurance conglomerates are rapidly privatizing Medicare and Medicaid. Once our public resources are mostly gone we'll never get them back. Replacement costs are exponential.
