The top priority for private health insurance companies is profit. They intentionally deny covering necessary healthcare so they can pocket as much as they possibly can.
Untied Health care doesn't have a chance in a court case. Imagine the reaction of the jury when they hear they tried to get the doctor to keep quiet. United Health Care is just digging themselves deeper. Eventually Congress will have to step in.

Not really a nightmare-as a surgeon her OR should have multiple well trained RNs who know how to process these orders with insurance correctly. Like they said in the video- the hospital was erroneously attempting to charge insurance for an "overnight inpatient stay" when she was going to be monitored in the PACU for a few hours and sent home. Would you have liked to pay a higher copay because your surgeon's team is too moronic to bill you for the correct services?

Patients at risk of extremity amputation require prior authorization inevitably delaying care, treatments are limited by the insurance companies stating they will not cover certain therapies. They claim said therapies are ‘experimental’ when there is an overwhelming amount of supporting data for them. And guess which insurance company is the most implicated? Yup. United.

There is currently a shortage of medical professional health care people in this country and the heath care insurance companies as well as well as the corporate run hospitals, no longer run by medical professionals, but by corporate puppets that only goal is profits! As a recently retired physician, a 23 hour observation stay is very different than a 24 hour admission The cost that the surgeon and hospital is allowed to charge is significantly different We did 23 hour short stays all the time, sometimes we might observe them for 6 , 8 , 10;hours and release them. But you get the same fee. If the patient was initially a23 hour short stay but wasn’t ready to go, we had to change it to 24 hour stay and justify why because it’s a big charge increase. Think about it, insurance companies want as many 23 hour observation stays The Hospital wants as many 24 hour + stays. Both parties have financial incentives
A close friend of mine ended up in palliative care due to an aggressive colon cancer in 2021. She was on a work visa in Canada for about 3 years. After this tragic event, she had to stay at the hospital until her last breath. She was given many medications to ease her pain and she could die with dignity. Long story short, she paid 0 dollars(!) at the end!! I don`t know how she would be suffering more if she was in the US.
IMO if she was here in the USA, they wouldnt even prescribe her pain medicine to ease her pain and they would of sent her to a homeless shelter if she had no where to go but if she was lucky she would get hospice care, but that is only if she has insurance. America has become a cold hearted place , but i refuse to let them make my heart cold. anyway God bless you
It's not just United Health - BCBS tried to do the same thing to me! They tried claiming that it could be done as an outpatient procedure.... 5-7 hours in surgery and NO hospital stay after??? Really?
Make advertising a non deductible tax expense for pharmaceutical and insurance companies. They will still make a competitive net profit for a shareholders.
I just had this surgery done 1/23/25. I stayed 3 nights and that is not long enough. Hospitals are forced to push patients out too soon, because of this I had to be helicoptered back to the hospital for emergency surgery. This surgery involves delicate blood vessels and arteries being disconnected and reconnected. 6 nights in the hospitality should be the minimum. Employ more nurses and give the care that is required for patients proper healing.
Does an inpatient overnight stay post-op look any different from an outpatient overnight stay post-op? Overly complicated hair splitting throughout the system = complicated IT systems = extra middle men everywhere each taking a cut of the money. The handful of big insurance conglomerates are rapidly privatizing Medicare and Medicaid. Once our public resources are mostly gone we'll never get them back. Replacement costs are exponential.
I don’t understand why there isn’t a call to action for the common people of the United States to come together and create a nonprofit healthcare system managed cooperatively. We could pay into a shared system that offsets each other’s medical costs and needs over the long term. Of course, employees would need to be paid, and it wouldn’t be easy, but what is?
When i woke up 3 1/2 weeks later from bad car accident, the first works head from the insurance agent was get lawyer. I askd why, writing it on a piece of paper, cause i could not speak. I believed paying my insurance ment it was there if it was needed. Now i got my medicle covered, not by insurance but by OHIP (Ontario health insurance plan) And had my G ma not going to our local M.P. and pleaded for my life. If not for these couple of things they (Henery Ford Hospital) were gunna let me die on the tabel.
So instead of making a change , they decided to go on the defense. And everyone who speaks their truth or tells their story, they’ll attack… they will be fighting for life then… because everyone is speaking up.
The diff of IN/OUT stay? While your OUT, a high deductible is shifted on to you. This happened to me. I was in the hospital for over two days but never ADMITTED. There for I was hit with a $500.00 deductible...
