Excited for this new film from the SMC Film Program celebrating an essential chapter in American history that retains a potent relevance. The struggle for women's liberation is strongly tied to the greater working class struggle. Only when everyone is emancipated can there be true freedom. What was once the titanic American industrial might was built on the shoulders of women such as these, rendered here with a poetic eye and stunning production design. The casting is notable in how the cast embody an era and the immigrant communities that shaped this country's great cities. A striking work for a time where once again, the line is being drawn between the people and the robber barons.
