It bothered me that the wedding planner wss quick to trash talk the bride like it was beneath her to do this "cheap wedding" but she did her best. Since when is $20,000 a nothing amount?? I can only imagine what she says about clients behind their backs.
100%. She literally showed up to this woman's wedding telling her to sign a new contract and if she didn't she wasn't going to set up. That's ridiculous. The bride gave her the budget. She was supposed to stick to that. If she wasn't able to then she should've said she couldn't so that the bride could either find another wedding planner or adjust her budget. Weddings are not cheap and a lot of people go into debt to make them happen. So when someone springs on you at the last minute that it's going to charge more then there's no way for you to come up with that kind of money. She's claiming that the bride agreed over the phone the night before but didn't agree to sign the paperwork. That's bullcrap. Furthermore, as a wedding planner your job is to set up a venue that is acceptable to all. That includes making sure that you're allowed to have wedding, reception, etc. at this venue. It also includes times. If the venue doesn't have the capability then you notify the bride of that and find another venue. How the wedding planner thought she'd get away with this boggles my mind. Now the bride will have to remember her wedding where the cops got called on them. Not only would I not pay her for the services but I'd also tell her I want my $2000 back. JJ was right to dismiss this case. Also, smart people say don't EVER interrupt JJ. She will dismiss your case then and there.
Speaking as a retired event planner the bride contract should have been canceled at the first sign of payment issues. When stuff like that happens at the very beginning it just leads to a bigger headache!
100%. Personally, if a person gives you a specific budget then you need to make a wedding that fits that budget. $20K is not a small amount of money. If the wedding planner couldn't make it work then she should've told the bride that. Honestly, considering that the wedding planner kept changing the amounts like this, I'm not surprised the bride couldn't keep up.
I was married 25 years ago and to be honest I don't remember much about the planning other than my wife's father complaining about how much it cost, I know he spent around 30,000 dollars and this was in 1999 and I remember my parents paying for the rehearsal dinner and I paid for a party for the wedding party and our families. What I remember is everything was expensive and I wanted to elope but my wife was a sorority girl and wanted a big wedding and like a good husband I kept my mouth shut and kept her happy. It's 25 years later and I still try and keep my mouth shut but every year it gets harder but I still adore my wife and we have managed to stay together.
If you don't pay your bill in full, you might get held up for the balance at a time you don't appreciate! You can always fight about it later in court.

Thank God my wife and I walked into the probate judge's office, judge wiped the KFC off her fingers with a wet wipe, we got married, paid the $15 fee, and enjoyed the next 30 years driving each other crazy. $15 and 15 minutes. Planner studied detective Columbo's method. "Just one more thing . . . . . " over and over and over, but here, "Just a few more thousand dollars." I wonder how many other subs she stiffed??

😂😂😂😂if I don't have the money to have a good wedding reception I'd rather go to the notary public or just get married in a civil ceremony and have a meeting with my close family but I'm not going to go around doing these ridiculous things wherever I go I'm going to cause pity because why do you want a party if in a year or two you're going to get pregnant and your husband left you because that's what's new now marriages don't last, first you live with the man for two or three years and then if you see that he's the right person who can be a good father for your children you marry him but everyone sees marriage as something fantastic of a princess but that is not used anymore this is just my point of view with all due respect!😂😂😂
