Call me a masochist, but my favorite area is the White Palace. There’s just something about its general vibe and calm nature despite the chaos surrounding you. Path of Pain is a really difficult but fair challenge and I think that same sentiment can apply to the area as a whole. City of Tears is a very close second, however.
I love hollow knights areas so much. The atmosphere is just so absolutly wonderful, my fav is probaby kingdom edge, just because of the isolate feeling it gives me and I love the aestetic
Genuinly my favourite writing and narration on hollow knight I have watched. Very meticoulus and detailed while still keeping a sense of fun and engagemment. I am really impressed by your ability to capture the sense of "experience" of hollow knight rather than just giving a description of what the game is or how one feels about it. I'm living!!

"Nobody used that tram" I did. On my first playthrough, I never found the path to the Resting Grounds in Crystal Peak. So I only got the Dream Nail after getting the Tram Pass in Deepnest. Yeah, I got very late but I used that tram to reach Resting Grounds initially. Figuring out I could use Crystal Peak to get there this entire time for my next playthroughs has felt like sequence break lmao.
Yeah that's pretty much the only point of this tram, to be an alternate way to reach resting grounds on your first playthrough. After that it never matters.
It’s been years since I played this game so I don’t recall the specifics, but let it be known I first got to crystal peak via the tram, taking the long way round south and finding the tram pass in the ancient basin I think? I think this speaks possibly my favorite thing (of many) in Hollow Knight, which is how unique each player’s journey is. First time I played, I fell into Deepnest near the Queen’s Gardens and had to slowly, painstakingly crawl out, possibly my favorite moment in the game (at least, once it was over). I also thought I’d searched the map thoroughly and yet literally never discovered the Hive on my first playthrough. Amazing game, and thanks for bringing me back with this great video.
The hive is actually my favourite area (even though it is technically part of kingdom's edge). I think it is massivly underrated, just like the hive knight. Beating that guy on radiant made me appreiciate the fight much more. I used to compare him to the soul warrior. I actually don't really like kingdom's edge, greenpath, fungal wastes or the forgotten crosroads. The queens garden would be my second favourite and deepnest would be the worst even though it is still solid.
I’m currently in the middle of my first playthrough of the game, so I can’t watch the whole video, but I’m just skipping through the sections of the video that cover areas I haven’t seen yet. Love the video Billy! Thanks for getting me into this game!
Personally Deepnest is my favorite area in HK. It's also one of my favorite areas in all of gaming. I just remember how terrifying it was falling from the Mantis Lords to the horror that is deepnest. Navigating my way out in this oppressive and foreign environment where even the NPCs and background sprites try ot kill you was so enthralling. And I'll never forget the exhale I let out when I escaped. Even if the lack of bosses is.a bit sad, as an area its so memorable.

I say this because it was very entertaining to see you play certain games and I think that in this case it would be very fun to see you playing Silksong after playing hollow knight on stream.
Queen’s Gardens is my personal favorite area. The shear beauty of the area is the decision for me. I really like the design of running around for shortcuts and in the end it fully interconnected. Sadly the area is pretty lacking in bosses. The blue lake doesn’t have any fights and it’s obviously small, but the ambiance of the area and especially sitting there with Quirrel is just perfect.

I love the Resting Grounds, this area got that feeling I love so much, this almost feels like a second hub. And I didn't know about the Shrine of Believers, this is insane. The Royal Waterways are probably my least favourites areas, I don't like the sewers setting My favourite area is the Kingdom's Edge, despite those Primal Aspids. I love verticality. I love the OST. I love the aesthetic. I love the lore. I just love this area Honorables mentions to other areas I really love : the City of Tears, Deepnest (despite being feared by spiders, what a great area) and the Ancient Basin. I really love all the areas but those four are too high on my heart. I also really love Dirtmouth as a hub, and the atmosphere of the Resting Grounds
