  • Sofie Paulus loves climbing and nature. However, as outdoor climbing often means taking the car to get to the crag, climbing becomes a "motor sport", and is therefore not very eco-friendly. Sofie tries to take the bike to go climbing. Though she renounces on peak climbing energy when she reaches the crag by bike the overall feeling is much better afterwards. Feel inspired by following Sofie on her fascinating way to balance different interests and breaking habits.
Over a year ago @lenamarie.mllr first suggested the term #greenpoint after climbing Prinzip Hoffnung by public transport, to describe the idea of climbing a route and using the bike, the feet and/or public transports for the approach, not being aware the term already existed. Now together with @sofie.paulus the two climbers would like to introduce this concept by the name ecopoint and bring together inspiring stories with the hashtag #ecopointclimb
Ecopoint: Climbing a route and using just the bike, the feet and/or public transports for the approach (Lena Marie Müller & Sofie Paulus)

I've climbed some of my hardest routes in ecopoint style, but the crag was only a 15 minute bike ride from my home :D still fully agree with the sentiment that it connects you to nature and obviously we'll have to change our lifestyle. It's about finding a balance between personal restrictions and effective climate change and that's a lot less than people might think if systemic change happens.

Human powered adventures for us and for the planet!
Just got back from scrambling, hiking, fastpacking and mountian running for 3 months powered by Banff public transit and my legs. I bussed as far as I could and then biked to the trailhead and hike in with my camping gear. From there, I did fast and light ascents of 40 peaks!! It was an epic, exhausting adventure but it was the most fulfilling thing I've ever done. I earned every summit in ernest. Try it!

It's not ecopoint if you don't brush your chalk marks after sending the route

wear it if you want to, but don't tell people how to do things...

@@mszymkowski I think u are not a climber . It is the first thing what is tough in school and it's like driving without a seat belt. 💺

@@himayun19 I think you are not a climber because all climbers including myself are not wearing helmets while sport/ single pitch climbing.
I'm not saying it's stupid to wear helmet because protection is never stupid, but i chose not to wear it unless I feel unsafe.
In mountains, or for multipitch climbing i always wear helmet.
Anyway it's my choice. So just think it's not good to judge people and tell them what to do. It's up to you and to them. That's all!

@@mszymkowski my point was only safety. As kids grows watching people like you. Accidents don't come with warnings or signs. Even a small mistake can kill a person on an easiest climb . So it is better to be safe than regret. I don't question anyone ability to judge.

@@himayun19 it's extreme sport, keep that in mind. Also, you are talking about helmets, why they were not using helmets in Tokyo? For 99.9% of cases is safe to climb without wearing helmet, but of course there is always 0.1%.
