Take a lesson with America's most beloved banjo picker! You'll learn the techniques Pete used to make his songs come alive - up-picking, frailing, whamming, double-thumbing, hammering-on and pulling-off, two and three-finger picking, and more.
Pete demonstrates more than a dozen songs including Darlin' Cory, Lady Gay, Risselty Rosselty, Sloop John B., Dink's Song, Leather Britches, Coal Creek March, In The Evening When The Sun Goes Down, Quite Early Morning, and East Virginia, among others. This lesson will make an enlightening and valuable part of your music collection, even if you don't play the banjo!

Pete passed away some years ago. I am old enough to remember the movement to stop the war in Vietnam as well as the toll it took. I turned 18 shortly after the draft ended. I still had to go sign up for it though.
I had several friends and family members who went none of whom were even the same after returning.
Pete, I wish you were still here with us today with all your friends.
You really made a difference. R.I.P
His was my first banjo book back in 1970. Recently bought another and I m reading it page by page. Savior ever word. I was kid back then but I learned my first song on the banjo from that book. Didn’t even know what the song should sound like. Now I m back to learning it again.
I learned to play Banjo Pete Seeger Style as my introduction to the instrument. He always was an inspiration to me.
I didn't start out wanting to play Banjo Scruggs style or Bluegrass style. From the very start my goal was to play like Pete Seeger. I can play the other styles now years later but playing Banjo like Pete Seeger is still where my heart is at! He made playing so enjoyable. He was a community minded player. By that I mean he wanted you to join in with him, even if all you knew how to do was hum. Humming is essential he'd say. He's still my inspiration and has my heart!
Brilliant good old Pete
Thank you for sharing this video.
I found a copy of his book 📖 in a box of music books 📚 that I bought for $15.00.
Getting a longneck banjo soon. Paying on it now.
Thanks 😊
I don't even have a banjo, but I'm just here for the great music 👍
Like your videos I'm just learning 👍👍🇬🇧
Wow! Exactly what I was looking for, but much better.
I don't believe I've ever seen him without a capo. Does it really need to be that long?
Getting into Homespun is like trying to get into Fort Knox. And forget talking to a human on their customer service number. All I want is a damned DVD!

definitely of use to a beginner. Pete's picking style may sound intimidating but it's quite fun and simple!
