Had a wonderful time Melbourne and Victoria, I preferred this city to Sydney. Spent many a happy day on the trams going to St. Kilda, the Docklands and beyond.
That is Awesome, Ive been two Melbourne and when you enter the city. I really like those Awesome blue thing's, im not shore what they are, but Awesome and everything else is two, even thow i haven't been right throw the hole city, But from what you have been showing me, is Awesome Thank's for the Video.
Even the most outer suburbs of Melbourne have a vibrancy. The new housing estates are approaching the once outer city towns so they still have that main street culture. Think Mornington, Warbuton, Healsville & Koo Wee Rup. Frankston, which once was considered a boganville is the gateway to the Mornington Peninsula....wineries, surf beaches, unreal architecture, parks & gardens, galleries, you don't even have to go into the city to get the vibe. I love Melbourne and I love Victoria! Miss you!!!!
Thanks for the video, I really enjoyed absorbing the city, we do a similar thing in Europe (natural sight and sound walks) and it's good to see someone doing something similar across the other side of the world. I've subscribed to your channel.
"Top end" of Collins St is the eastern end near Spring St. Captain Cooks Cottage is actually his parents house built in the UK in the early 1700's and later bought by a Victorian MP (during the UK slum clearance) in the 1920/30's and transported to Melbourne. It is the oldest building in Australia and pre dates British settlement in 1788 (Sydney) and 1835 (Melbourne).
Did you know that Melbourne was ranked as the 5th Best Student City according to the QS Best Student Cities Rankings 2013/14? The full results are online now at: www.TopUniversities.com/StudentCities
Love the pictures, nice relaxing music, my only (tiny) criticism is - if you are going to have your website name permanently in a video, please consider, and review prior to posting, the placement of the other captions advising what the various places/images are. Some of the names got obscured in this video unfortunately.
As well as being one of the most livable cities in the world, Melbourne was also ranked as one of the QS Best Student Cities 2012/13! If you want to see 2013-14’s rankings, check out our website tomorrow on 20/11! www.topuniversities.com/
The most livable city doesn't only depend on how many great buildins or culture it has but needs to include great funtionality. I live in Melbourne and I can criticize one thing about it. PUBLIC TRANSPORT NEEDS TO ARRIVE ON TIME!
Melbourne has been ranked as the No5 city in the QS Best Student Cities 2013-14 Rankings! To look at the other top cities, and view which factors we have assessed, see the full results on our website: www.TopUniversities.com/StudentCities
Then go for it. I'm not Australian but I have a few friends from Down Under and I know they mostly mock Americans in good spirit. Even their jokes about "poms" are generally good-natured. :) Anyway, it's an awesome laidback place with a different culture that is definetely worth visiting (or staying for that matter).
@madiiwarsaw The name of this piece is "Dreamful Night" from a CD called "Photo & Videoshow Sound Archives" by Magix. Please subscribe to my channel, thre is more great music form this CD.
The billborads dotted around melbourne's suburbs, like the one on the Princes Highway in Hallam, advertising the local whorehouse are a charming, classy touch.
Sydney - No 1 tourist destination down under. Most vibrant Aussie city Melbourne - Most sophisticated city. Shopping capital of Aussie. Gold Coast/Brisbane - Theme parks Perth - Beaches, sunshine Adelaide - most boring of them all.
30 years of living here and therefore have seen a decline in standards in living in this "hole", I beg to differ etc...However 3 decades ago I do agree with this notion.
I dont know what "liveable"means in aussie definition, but I gotta tell ya, I find the aussies as the most inhospitable and unfriendly people I've ever encountered in my travelling experience. what really struck me most was the level of anti-american in aust. as an american i felt more welcome in middle eastern countries than in australia.
We need to immediately start working together on key green precinct urban redevelopment pilot projects like NEO... See FACEBOOK - NEO - Nunawading Emissions Offset - Pilot Project
The area around Scienceworks is just totally revolting. Why they would build an attraction in the middle of such an ugly, horrible neighborhood is bizarre. The entire south east of is really ugly too as is Ringwood. Very, very dreary.
Melbourne isn't the most liveable place even in Australia. Australians voted Albury and WaggaWagga more liveable and I agree. Melbourne is only the most liveable city in the World from those actually included in the survey. The cost of housing should exclude it from being in first place and even on the Numbeo site, Liverpool U.K.came out higher. This is not surprising, as in a survey, 90% of those who had visited Sydney and Liverpool, preferred Liverpool.
LOL. If you ignore the filthy, dreary suburbs; the third world public transport; the horrible windy climate; the rampant vandalism and property crime; the gridlocked traffic and of course the fact it's one of the most expensive cities in the world.
Moved here 8 years ago and loved it but it is not the city is was then. Graffitti vandals have ruined the visual appeal of it and it now looks grubby and tatty. Pity because it was one of world's prettiest cities. It still has a great lifestyle but no-one really cares anymore.
maybe most livable if you're an Australian otherwise good luck getting into Australia in a first place. These "most livable city" statements and surveys are plain stupid.
That's hardly surprising, given that your modest spending means a lot to some poorer Middle Eastern countries than it is to Australia. So the former would swallow their pride or hatred to be able to earn a living, whereas the latter has nothing stopping it from voicing its opinion clearly and loudly. I mean, to be honest, the US foreign policy has created it a lot of enemies all over the world, so I wouldn't be so surprised...

the Video is Laughable..!!!!... last week,is was in Melbourne's CBD with some Americans,,,on a Saturday Night.. All the streets that are shown in the Video were Full of 1000'S of Drunks,, There was a huge fight down near Flinders Street station with Gangs Members.. Police were driving all through the CBD,,Drunken young people everywhere. Melbourne most Liveable City ????,,,thats if you own a Bottle Shop....
New York is the most livable Not Melbourne. The list you refer to is not the proper one. Guess what city got a special mention. Melbourne. NO Brisbane. Yes Dont believe me. Watch Brisbane - Australia's New World City on utube. Sydney and Melbourne your time of reckoning has come. HAHAHA. U two cities have fought over this for years without relising we have caught up to you.
may be, if you don't mind living in the boring side of life. But no matter how much I like it to be a livable city for a normal human being, it never is and i'm fooling myself if i try to think otherwise. Melbourne is more of a most LIFELESS city on earth. No one really lives here. people are mostly walking zombies. Melbourne needs to be studied and researched as to how can a large city like this can be excruciatingly boring to this extend. Other cities need to make sure they never fall into this kind of degradation.
***** The suburbs are a total dead zone at night...it's like a neutron bomb went off. There is no life whatsoever. Just a dark, empty, dreary dead zone. Even the bloody coffee shops close at 5pm if you can believe it.
You obviously haven't lived here. Yes Hastings is one of the worst ghettos in North America. Downtown Melbourne, the CBD, is nice. Anywhere outside the CBD is a total hole.
Except for the CBD, melbourne is a really, really ugly awful dreary city. An endless sea of very badly maintained, shitty little red and brown brick homes, ugly yards, cars parked on peoples front grass. Graffiti, litter and vandalism EVERYWHERE. No green spaces, just a sea of concrete and depressing brick homes. You won't find shady, tree lined streets with well kept homes in this city like you do in any North American city. UGH!!!
Max5941 Really? That's very disappointing to hear. I was actually planning to visit later this year. So all of the suburbs are drab and dreary? I heard there were some very nice areas with nice homes in tree lined streets where they have nice gardens and people don't park their cars on their front lawns. Just out of curiosity, which particular suburbs are the really bad ones? It would be good to know so that I can be sure to avoid them if and when I go there. Cheers.
I miss Melbourne so much... best place to live in.
ah !!!!!!!!....this city..so vibrant and so peaceful at the same time..greatest city in the world
My sister lives in Melbourne, I intend to join her very soon...

I wish i could live in this City for the rest of my life,

Hey what suburbs do you consider to be attractive? I'm just curious.

Is it "Melbourne" Most Livable City in the World?
Why do so many postcard pictures of Melbourne have to be of Flinders Street Station. What so special about a train station?
You really want to live where all the streets seem deserted at 8:00, there is hardly any people here!
Sydney - No 1 tourist destination down under. Most vibrant Aussie city
Melbourne - Most sophisticated city. Shopping capital of Aussie.
Gold Coast/Brisbane - Theme parks
Perth - Beaches, sunshine
Adelaide - most boring of them all.
30 years of living here and therefore have seen a decline in standards in living in this "hole", I beg to differ etc...However 3 decades ago I do agree with this notion.

beautiful city but this song makes this video boring !
The area around Scienceworks is just totally revolting. Why they would build an attraction in the middle of such an ugly, horrible neighborhood is bizarre. The entire south east of is really ugly too as is Ringwood. Very, very dreary.
Did u look into why they were anti american or did u just assume that cos there anti american there bad?
People get so jealous of Melbourne it's funny lol.

Melbourne is good in overall, but climate is fucking crappy there....
Just give me a reason why melbourne is more livable than london, new york , munich (for example)
