That first Benz sounds awful. I don't really see the current obsession with exhaust pops. Manufactures are just trying to make their hoover-like turbo engines sound more interesting. The 718 sounds super dull as well.
HyperLeafBlower that's about it, what about Honda s2000 f20, e30 m3 s14, the black top beams motor from Toyota, lots of better choices, and yeah new turbo motors sound kinda bad, the flat six the Porsche used to have sounded way better.
I agree. Just Like the new Golf R. Even with custom exhausts it only sounds good because it crackles, and that's only when it's tuned. BMW is especially bad at doing this.
Instead of 1.75 TBi u should've put some 2000 Alfa Twin Cam engine which were mounted in Alfa GTAm and 2000 Berlina and 2000 GTV. This engine has incredible sound as for inline 4.
The problem with modern performance engines is that the forced popping is just nasty sounding. Real pops from carbs puking too much fuel into the system sound genuine. They don't happen every time you look at the throttle pedal. They're rare and fun. New engines do it every time, and it's forced.
Alfa Romeo 4C sounds like Flatplane V8 from a Ferrari. The Porsche sounds like a Crossplane V8 tho 🤔 ? Could be the boxer design or headers, maybe Porsche has factory uel headers on or something. The Honda Civic at the end has the cleanest 4cyl sound, almost sounds like a sports motorcycle 🏍.
What's up gear Heads In Europe, the base 500 abarth has 135bhp standard. But you can choose the esse esse pack, with 160bhp, or the high end versions, like the 595 for example ...
let's be real here the cla sounds like shit, I mean literally like shit. there's this little sporty accent and the rest of the "gurgling" is you taking your midnight shit after you finished one too many Chipotles
CrunchiBox I'd be mad too, if the most I could afford was a base model v6 camaro. You shouldn't post negative things on UA-cam against cars you could never afford.
The 2.5 flat 4 engine from Porsche 718 Cayman S is not in the list, but is better than all of these because it sounds like a V8. For me, that's the best sounding 4 banger you can get.
An M40 BMW engine sounds surprisingly good, especially with some sort of modded exhaust even if it doesn't have that much potential for performance (due to inexistent aftermarket, mostly)
massive power on small engines, super efficient, low fuel consumption. easy to gain power with custom cooling and turbocharging, we could talk for hours about this.
Dominykas Dainys Yeah but it has nothing to do with being "modern". 4-cylinder engines are not by definition any more "modern" than any other engines. With that logic - a 2- or 3-cylinder is also more modern than a 4-cylinder. Futhermore i would at any time prefer the sound and smoothness of a 6- or 8-cylinder engine to a 4-cylinder engine
1.8t's should be in here 3" turbo back with no cat and a 42DD muffler or eurosport muffler is sexy af. I had that setup with a eurosport exhaust and she sounded tame until you opened it up, always got compliments on it.
I came into this video hating 4 cylinders and trying to give them a chance to love them a little bit... and I came out just like when I entered, they just sound so bad!
With an 11000 rpm F20C engine, you'd kinda expect it to have a good sound. Yes it does have a good sound, but doesn't qualify as one of the cars that have "Unexpectedly Good Sounding 4-Cylinder Engines"
It's a shame that due to turbocharging that all of the voice from the modern motors' come from the exhaust. I drove a (naturally aspirated) Fiat Panda 100 and it sounded incredible.
Well, if you modify exhaust properly, every engine will sound good. Same engine as in subaru impreza sounds so juicy in Legacy sounds like any other 4 cylinder. Put on stock pipes on that integra and it will turn in to 1.4 civic:)
Just clicked for the Mercedes 190E
The 190e was recorded from the wrong side. It's known for its intake sound because of rules in dtm.
Yup
Same with the fulvia too
Love small 4 cylinder engines :)
lol anything that AMG makes sounds great
Even their jackets and hats sound amazing
Definitely not 4 cylinders
finally the Mercedes 190 evo2
masahito sato is it not a 5 cyc engine in the 190E evolution
Nope it's an inline 4 my dad had one
masahito sato true it was 2.5 turbo diesel that was 5 in line
My Dad used to own a 190e it was great car, Midnight blue 1997
Just watched this to see if theres a Subie. There was, so i liked
The Subaruist me too
Thought my popcorn maker was on with the first clip
The first Merc sounded like you were shaking up a bunch of marbles in a box
You forgot one: e30 m3 2.3l i4
Do best sounding minivan engines xD
no really please do it ;-;
My mom has a Kia Sedona and it actually sounds pretty good
ua-cam.com/video/oZeZX3wlSjA/v-deo.html
@ 3:10 Now that's a car I must have
This thing will get burned by a Beetle, trust me...
All show, no go...!
"A Beetle"... LMAO Do you have any idea what a 190E Cosworth EVOII is worth?
Popcorn popping
718 is why I'm looking at a Porsche 911 only and not other Porsche models
Ninja ZX-2R, CBR 250RR and CBR 600RR would be my top three.
Really good video! =)
The best sounding 4-cylinder is OG saab 900T
second best Renault Clio Sport 2.0
first clip sounds like the car has montezuma’s revenge
Many of the newer cars sounds so "fake"
Because they have boring sounding turbo engines artificially accented by exhaust pops.
Fiat 500 abarth is turbocharged
that CLA AMG sounded the best
Great video, the only one I could find with cars that actually have stock exhausts!
Instead of 1.75 TBi u should've put some 2000 Alfa Twin Cam engine which were mounted in Alfa GTAm and 2000 Berlina and 2000 GTV. This engine has incredible sound as for inline 4.
realy missed the E30 M3.. sounds way better than all of these 4cylinders
The problem with modern performance engines is that the forced popping is just nasty sounding.
Real pops from carbs puking too much fuel into the system sound genuine. They don't happen every time you look at the throttle pedal. They're rare and fun.
New engines do it every time, and it's forced.
Well we all know Fiat or Abarth are from Italy where they make Supercars
BMW S14 from the e30 ///M3 ?
shouldve had the vauxhall/opel vxr "H" in here, sounds like a beast.
as a opel owner : what the fuck is that H?
Those A E S T H E T I C S at the end though.
Alfa Romeo 4C sounds like Flatplane V8 from a Ferrari. The Porsche sounds like a Crossplane V8 tho 🤔 ? Could be the boxer design or headers, maybe Porsche has factory uel headers on or something. The Honda Civic at the end has the cleanest 4cyl sound, almost sounds like a sports motorcycle 🏍.
is the popcorn done???
first car sounds like a popping popcorn :D
The expenctancy of every car here sounding good was unexpected.
'Cars with unexpectedly good sounding 4 cylinder'
2 cars with 6-cylinder engines driving away in the outtro..
i love integra
thought the trailblazer super sport would be on here, dude that thig is TIGHT
Abarth 500 with Record Monza Exhaust...thats the real deal! :-D
they don't even sound that loud but it's ight
That CLA sounds like a race car... maybe a suggestion to add a V6 in it?
That Integra at the end was just a ricer with a fartcannon lol
Mohd Aliff Ramly integra R was and still is one of the best handling fwd cars ever..many touring car championships trophys should convince you..
I miss the Mini John Cooper Works
I stopped watching after the first car, That Mercedes sounded like fucking popcorn in the microwave lol 😂
best 4 cylinder sound in the world the engine of the honda s2000 ...thats just my opinion
nice Sounding
Can be very unreliable but 1.6 supercharged mini cooper s sounds good especially with catback and upgraded pulley. (Stock also sounds amazing)
here to see B series, mission complete
Nothing beats the DTM versions of Mercedes 190 and BMW M3 E30. 2.5l, 350hp, 10k rpm - simply glorious
No the m3 is a 2.4 i4
basically every modern sprorts bike ;)
What is your outtro?
This is from a japanese movie "Shuto Kousoku Trial".
Why did you say the abarth had only 133hp when it us 160, is that wheel horsepower then? My crank? Hmm
It's a 500 abarth. The 500 595 abarth has 160hp.
What's up gear Heads they only come standard with 160 in the US
What's up gear Heads In Europe, the base 500 abarth has 135bhp standard. But you can choose the esse esse pack, with 160bhp, or the high end versions, like the 595 for example ...
pokest225 Isn't the 696 biposto the high end version?
EJ20 + EJ25 =
let's be real here the cla sounds like shit, I mean literally like shit. there's this little sporty accent and the rest of the "gurgling" is you taking your midnight shit after you finished one too many Chipotles
fiat engine sounded like a wet fart.
CrunchiBox I'd be mad too, if the most I could afford was a base model v6 camaro. You shouldn't post negative things on UA-cam against cars you could never afford.
Don't forget about S2000 and Evos, they also had 4-Cylinder Engines
That merecedes was just a fart cannon XD
The WRX is the definition of a good sounding car...
The 2.5 flat 4 engine from Porsche 718 Cayman S is not in the list, but is better than all of these because it sounds like a V8. For me, that's the best sounding 4 banger you can get.
wheres the mini john cooper works?
So...an Abarth but no Mini?! Well shucks
I think you missed the Lotus big valve engine, sounds much better than most of these.
An M40 BMW engine sounds surprisingly good, especially with some sort of modded exhaust even if it doesn't have that much potential for performance (due to inexistent aftermarket, mostly)
Sound like hair dryers or electric popcorn makers!
The new Focus RS sounds awesome
if you actually straight piped any car it will sound sick
Also the Ford Fiesta mk7 4cyl duratec sounds amazing
Everyone knows that 4-cylinder engines are most modern.
Why are they more modern? That´s bullshit. Do you think e.g. all 6-cylinder-engines are by definition outdated?
massive power on small engines, super efficient, low fuel consumption. easy to gain power with custom cooling and turbocharging,
we could talk for hours about this.
The 912 should be also included ;)
Where is saab 900 turbo 16 valve?
The abarth and the 4c have the same exhausts? Looks so similar
1.8t's should be in here 3" turbo back with no cat and a 42DD muffler or eurosport muffler is sexy af. I had that setup with a eurosport exhaust and she sounded tame until you opened it up, always got compliments on it.
the Ford zx2 coupe sounds nice as well
Mazda MX-5? The new ONE!!
The STi you showed actually has a 3.0L engine; since the 2016 model
Aprilion Orange no, only outback and legacy come in 3 L, STi has 2.0 and 2.5
I was pretty damn sure the 2016 model has 3.0l. But okay.
how much longer untill its legal to import an actual jdm honda civic type r or integra type r
Connar Downes the usdm integra R is basically the same as the JDM one, the Civic R will be legal in 2023
Where is the Ford Focus RS?!!!!!!!!!
Roger Lee Yosores trying to be jdm
The Ford Focus RS is actually American, sure, there are some aftermarket parts but still, Ford.
Focus has 5 cyl
The new one has a 2.3l EcoBoost 4 cylinder
And now sounds like shit. Too artificial.
Where the Srt4 neon at?!
What about the 4A-GE?
these are not the engine but the exhaust sounds.
That 4c sounds like a tractor
What about a Toyota Prius, those sound amazing
I came into this video hating 4 cylinders and trying to give them a chance to love them a little bit... and I came out just like when I entered, they just sound so bad!
I recognise that Integra and that road, think the video was taken in Northern Ireland.
Cryptic _ whats your profile pic called?
Cryptic _ I think it's part of the Ulster Grand Prix Circuit.
Another one is the Honda S2000 with the 2.0l F20C.
With an 11000 rpm F20C engine, you'd kinda expect it to have a good sound.
Yes it does have a good sound, but doesn't qualify as one of the cars that have "Unexpectedly Good Sounding 4-Cylinder Engines"
Where's Volkswagen Jetta TDI Mk IV 2003? That's a really good sounding inline 4 cylinder engine
SRT4?
Where is the VAG 1.8T 20V ?!! :(
4age
What about the BRZ, Lancer Evo, 2.0 TDI?
where is e30 m3?
33 seconds CLA low rpm revving, and not a single second of how it actually sounds when driving off?
We can change any sound we like through exhaust bro :3
Tra 001 I bet you are the type of person who thinks an ebay fart can on a civic sounds good.
AMA Please check your comment again bro, I don't get what you're trying to say.
What about Mitsubishi Evo?
because this is an unexpectedly good video
because everyone knows 4G63T has good sound.
Everyone knows the 2.5 WRX sounds good anyways, but it was still on there.
chrischoy9 but it's a little bit different when you talk about boxer engine
Cat Car Almost all boxers sound good
The Abarth has 160hp actually...
Okay, the Type R actually sounded the best, IMO, but any Honda that isn't a Type-R, S2000 or have a V6 sounds like shit.
The weaker they are the better they sound. :D The AMG sounds like a Lupo with ricer exhaust...
V-4?
Peugeot 106?
The 45 AMG engine🖒❤
All 4 cyl sound good, just need a good exhaust
And the best exhaust is no exhaust
Both Skyline and ZX300 are 6-Cylinders in the end of this video. lol
It's a shame that due to turbocharging that all of the voice from the modern motors' come from the exhaust. I drove a (naturally aspirated) Fiat Panda 100 and it sounded incredible.
s2000?!
Axoz _ sounds a bit like taco bell
Well, if you modify exhaust properly, every engine will sound good. Same engine as in subaru impreza sounds so juicy in Legacy sounds like any other 4 cylinder. Put on stock pipes on that integra and it will turn in to 1.4 civic:)
And the legendary E30 M3 DTM is missing...shame!
