- This is not click bait, thumbnail is a still frame from the video, minus the guy holding an engine up with one hand. Ls v8 jetski is ready for its first test ride! (maiden voyage) V8 engine into Yamaha waverunner fzr jetski pwc.
big thanks to Holley helping out on this build

The gears and the exhaust is a symphony of awesomeness.
You freaking nailed it boys great job.
I just want everyone to understand that THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING! That set up right there has so much room to grow. This is an awesome foundation for many awesome videos to come! Keep in mind this was just a test run. This thing hasn’t even had a chance to be tuned. Just imagine when this baby gets some power adders and some tuning, and maybe some impeller/jet pump/nozzle work.
Yeah, if this is the proof of concept, imagine what can be done with a new sponsorship by Texas Speed in combination with new impeller/jet system… 🤯
The fact that he did this in his garage, absolutely amazing.
As opposed to his kitchen or bathroom?
@@CH-qy5sn non boat dude comment right here^^
The fact that you got an LS to fit in a freaking jet ski! Mind explosion!
"He did it. The crazy SOB, he did it!"
Independence day?
There will likely be oil starvation issues with this as constructed without a dry sump system. Trust me, I know from road racing LS engines... Install a Accusump at a minimum to save the engine when it sees those brief starvation moments (and it will).
Also, I would highly suggest wrapping the exhaust system if you're going to run it as it sits. It will possibly save you from melting glass (or worse) later. I quickly watched the exhaust builds and it didn't look like you ran a wet system down stream of the wet manifolds. Might be wise to run even small water lines into the exhaust to cool it.
He may be able to get away with an oil accumulator.
@@jagtan13 If he cares about the engine, he should absolutely put one in if he's not going to spend the money on a dry sump system. They work... As configured, that existing system will starve the engine pretty quick in a jet sky!
Uh, except the sump rotates in the same direction as the G-Loading.... 🙄
Otherwise you'd get ripped right off the machine...
kind of suprised he didnt just go dry sump
Nicely done, that thing has some power and sounds incredible. Way better than other v8 skis on youtube
I’ve never said “holy shit” out loud while watching a video, but when you started that thing up, i couldn’t hold it back! That thing is so fucking cool! That gearbox and exhaust is just perfect😍
This is so funny. I said the exact same thing!! Awesome
Best sounding jet ski ever.
So awesome to see this come together! I am most impressed with that gearbox and the sweet sound that it makes. Amaazzing
I can only imagine what it would feel like being 100lbs lighter with an aluminum block, and a big camshaft
I thought the same thing, Nelson racing engines makes a 260ci ls for small race boats that would be perfect lol!
@@tylergarrison9230 all ls’s are the same physical size. A 4.3L ls would be heavier than a 7L. 7L just has more material removed from the block.
@@user-yq6ov6ow7l watch NREs video on the 260ci and argue with the pros building 3000hp big blocks…….
@@tylergarrison9230 big blocks are bigger than the LS. They are literally called big blocks. I’m not arguing at all. I’m stating facts, and your suggestion is based off the fact you think a smaller displacement LS is physically smaller and lighter, but it is not.
I feel like the iron block does it justice for weight control so that you don't fly
The "SHO" decals are absolutely hilarious to me now! 😂😂😂 yamaha: "super high output!"
Jetski Bro's: "psssh, step aside, amateur"
uhh what? an SHO ski will destroy this slow thing.
Incredible. To have a shake down go that well on a build like that is impressive. Well done man 🤙🤙
Seems worth dataloggging it and seeing where the rpm's are. Great job getting this together as soon as you did!
This is how all videos need to be produced!!!! NO BULLSHIT RIGHT TO THE ACTION!! Huge props!!💚💚💚💚and safe travels bro!!! 🌬💨💚🌬💨💚🌬💨💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
Awesome job! I can’t believe the sound and smoothness of that ski! You guys must be so happy how this project turned out. Thank you for getting this out and showing it can be done. Excellent work 👍
Im not so much into jet skis but this build has inspired me . It looks fast and has so much potential, nitrous or maybe a turbo. Nice work .
Not bad for a 4.8 truck motor with an intake manifold. Imagine what it will do with 600 hp!
probably just cavitate
The max rpm will determine the final speed. With 600hp it will accelerate faster but still top out the same
Can't believe it floats lol jkjk. Lol This whole project is going way smooth.👏 How fast is Josh willing to go on this thing , it looked like it'd kept on keepin on to scary speeds. BANGER of a video Brothers. So stoked seeing this thing hit the water . It's only just beginning.
@@rickems8863 It really went well. The starting point we have is really good considering we have the most bottom of the barrel LS right now. The gear ratio I think is perfect. The off the shelf pumps and impellers should work really good. We were not overpowering the pump at all. Lots of gains to be made with just tinkering.
Congrats...ive been a long time follower..and this is one of the best jetski projects on the internet...
"I think the initial shakedown is going much better than a clapped out 550." 😂😂😂
That one felt a little personal.
That is unreal, awesome build, fantastic skill and knowledge to accomplish this. That jetski will never be beaten on noise, it sounds epic. Keep the videos coming
That is amazing, I am seriously impressed. It handles much much better than I anticipated. It's fast enough. Congratulations! it's a winner in my eyes.
That rotational mass spinning around in a small hull must be an interesting ride.
Id say its there . i feel it on my stand up ski.
When you see a dude wearing a helmet on a jetski, you know shits about to get real🙌
But it didn’t :(
I’m so happy this is going viral!! You crazy guys deserve it and I can’t wait to see where this series goes!
Well josh all I can say is well done. For something to run that smooth on the first test ride says something about the work you put into it. Along with the help from jacob and Joel! Great work fellas it came out awesome!!
Definitely the best sounding jetski out there
I feel like that engine will last for 30 years. The sound is so cool. It's like a Vette pulling up next to you.
Love the sound and acceleration - very smooth transition. Looks effortless!
I've been watching this since the very first vid. It's so great to see all of your hard work come to life. Congratulations. What an achievement. 👍🇦🇺
Excellent work guys! And i never thought it would sink
great job man , all those hours of fabricating ..makes it all worth it!!!! LOVE IT !
I think you pulled off what no other UA-camr has done, a nice running V8 jetski. All the others look heavy and slow yours Rocks, great job.
I was wanting to make a crazy ski like this with a turbo set up. Then this guy drops an Ls in it. Fml genius!
Awesome project! Glad to see it completed. And a confession; when I saw the first thumbnail and video I swore it was click bait and would get shelved at some point but it never did. I was wrong and love it! Such a good job in making it happen on a reasonable timeline and never over promising or under delivering! 😁 Thanks and keep doing interesting projects. Also it'd be interesting to see a cost and time breakdown if you don't mind sharing.
PS, if you'd install an x-pipe in front of the muffers you might get better exhaust sound.
THATS SICK !!!!!!!! IM SURPRISED THAT NO ONE HAS DONE THAT OUT HERE IN LAKE HAVASU AZ. 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
So proud of you! Fine tuning and you will have a beast
I'm amazed that you guys not only successfully stuffed an LS in a jet ski, but made a running, driving LS powered jet ski sleeper.
Hope to catch it out on the water in person sometime. Great job guys!
great job guys !
Best V8 Conversion i've seen to date
You guys did a bang up job man!!! The best part is the potential the engine/ski combo has. Both the engine and ski have lots of aftermarket support, so I say. To the moon boys. To the moon!!!!!!
The sound it makes is absolutely beautiful
I'm way behind on this series and I feel with doing such a badass project I owe it to you guys to watch each video. Very cool stuff jetski bros
Congratulations on getting this one to the water successfully. If you have to have a sit down ski,, it should sound as good as that one does.
You have the power to quite literally not ever overload the pump, repitch that thing to the absurd amount and watch the speed increase drastically
ehh depends, i havent watched the full series so idk if they did anything to it or if its a stock ls2 if it is its only pushing 380 ish maybe 410 to the pump, now add a cam, e85 and it would be insane or ya know send it and strap a lsa to it.....
This is bananas! Found your channel convincing me to ditch the 951 DI and now here we are...
This is the first done right example of a v8 jetski I have seen ! Great job guys like no shit !! Can’t wait to see it when it’s dialed and what too speed numbers you get !
also might be worth putting a go pro in the boat and seeing what smokes.
Awesome, handles better than I thought it would. Gear whine isn't any worse than turbo. Like the way it looks stock, other than exhaust exit. Killer job. Hell Yes.
I'm just impressed his hat stayed on his head bill forward. 🤙
Never understood how people do this. I see it alot with sport bikes too...crazy.
Pretty cool guys! I would think you would need to over drive the impeller using your gear box and maybe switch to a more aggressive impeller. The power and torque is so much more now and needs to be harnessed! It should be crazy fast when you get her dialed in! Great job!
This thing is awesome and it’s just the beginning!
Congratulations on getting the thing in the water! Many UA-cam builds fizzle out before completion
😮 that thing is sick. floats way better then I thought. That gear box with ppg straight cut gears was the ticket for sure. Hey you should pull you’re log and take a look sounds off Maybe down a hole toward the end of the ride.
You know you a pro when your hat stays on. 🤙🏾🤙🏾
That gearbox noise is so freaking nice!
that sound track is amazing 🔊❤🚤
Awesome dude great job so far im in the process of swaping a r1 engine in a stand up js550 just watching the progress on yours is giving me the motivation to finish mine lol
Idk how this doesn't have half a million views already how dope the weird part is it sounds like a bike Harley Davidson in the water you guy's killed it is there others that have done this
Nice work lads. Sounds like a beast on the water.
This is what I like to see pop up!
Hell yea bro. I’m so freaking happy for you guys love watching ur channel learned a lot working on jet skis ... love ur channel keep it up. F the haters
Yall got it going! Awsome achievement.
Imagine how fast it would go if you tried something more slippery like gear oil instead of gravel and sand 🥳👆
This thing is absolutely amazing, great job on the build.
Love that V8 sound on the water👍🏻, I would also like to hear what a V6 would sound like in one. No replacement for displacement! That thing is sick🤙🏼 I just subscribed to your channel because of this video. Cannot wait to see upcoming content. Stay safe and have a great day!
I'm super impressed. Great job!
Super excited for this. I've been following from the beginning. Sounds big, mean and heavy.
Like and commented for the algo before I even watched it. Love this channel
"I don't plan on going that fast today"
Goes mach 3
Good work gentlemen! Well done!
Here we go guys sink or swim 🤣🤣🤣👍don worie lads I have faith
about f’ing time! nice work guys, so stoked you got it going
Awesome build. I’m curious if the extra torque translates on a pwc. Does it feel more Torquey or no?
This is awesome!! Seems like it handles great, the Ls sounds great
Congratulations from Alabama!
I'm stoked! Sounds Amazing, Close your eyes it sounds like a Ski Nautique
That thing is sick as hell!
Congrats man! Amazing craftsmanship!
Awesome to see it in action, top effort 👌 I think I need one too
Ohhhhhh, I love it when a plan comes together. Wicked output here JSB!!! This project is just starting and already has an incredible hole shot. :O
I cant wait to see where this goes for ya.
Just rad to see it run🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I'll bet the holeshot on that thing is insane. Whine from the gearbox sounds like a supercharger.
Looks like a gutless wonder
Let's go I've been waiting for this
Me too
The boss hoss of jet-skis right here!
Bruh, you LS swapped a Waverunner!!! Freaking Sweet! 👍🏻🏁🏁
That's insanely cool. Good job!
Sounds just about the bestest beastlyness I heard in a long time! Nice
Excellent job upstanding congrats
That thing sounds pretty badass.
Awsome I love your work. I enjoyed watching the whole build.
Awesome!! You have it set up perfectly it seems.. now just start playing with props and ride plates to figure out what you like for your wave ripping style
oh by the way youre water craft is far the best i have seen yet you cant even tell what you have done so dam impressive ...this thing needs to go a special boat show ... ill bet you could make a killing selling the gear box kit for conversions ... you better get a patent on all that stuff ill bet it will be a big seller
Love the conversion boys I thought you did a real good job nice fabrication always remember safety third
Welldone ! I was hoping better performance, but as an first ride, impressive.
Awesome build! It's rippin!
Well do my brother looks like it's working good and it songs great
this thing sounds crazy ! well done boys......now time for a turbo :'D
Sounds like a wild ride my nerves are twitching.
You guys rock! I've had this idea in my head for years and everyone told me it was impossible.. let the haters hate boys, congrats!
Can't wait to see what you can accomplish through tinkering with the gearbox and gearing. The v8 I assume has way more torques than stock but the rpms I doubt are there. I bet the ls could handle a higher gear ratio for more thrust and quicker starts
