Ha! thats my chopper. I am so grateful to Freerk for realizing my dream 'knife' and making this awesome video to look at over and over again. He is a really cool guy. Much respect and keep it up!
I could absolutely watch you forge for hours, almost mesmerizing and find myself totally loosing myself in your videos for hours on end! Keep up the great work sir!
Munrais ideal shape for a chopper. Doesn't say in the description what kind of wood, burl wood or a figure/pattern wood like curly maple, maybe. Beautiful looking.
The competitors on forged in fire make putting scales on a blade look like it is so hard, using all kind of weird methods. Why don't they all do what he just did? He made it look super easy.
Strangely just saw a video of one of these in use in competition recently, they get brutally abused. 5160 is tough stuff, famous for Kukris & other hard impact tools as well as leaf springs. You do great work obviously & I felt quite at home having worked in a grinding room before.
I like how you forged the shape of the tang, I know a lot of people just square it off with the hammer, then add the ergonomic curves afterwards with grinders and files.
It's a beautiful knife, excellent craftsmanship. So please don't take offense but it's not a very good one from a performance perspective. I'm basing this on other competition knives I've seen. Like knives made by Dan Keffeler for example would have cut though that post in 2-3 chops. Then again, that's his specialty. Very well done! It was fun watching you make it!
I'm not sure if I love your videos or if they just annoy the hell out of me. Either way they are interesting. I'm going to assume you were new to blacksmithing back when this was made or it just looks that way because your left handed. Anyhow, thanks for sharing this part of your life. What you do is True art. Thats a Beautiful blade.

Fred 5000 what did it set you back, roughly?
Fred 5000 thanks! Good to have you as a customer
Half an arm and about a quarter leg. You should contact Freerk about prices.
Are you using it for competitions?
William Bishop there’s competition chopping?
I really need this, Its been one hell of a week for me that I just want to sit down watch and listen to those soothing sounds of metal hiting metal.
Out of all the designs of a machete. This one is by far the best I've ever seen. Beautiful work. I would like to have one just like it.
I could absolutely watch you forge for hours, almost mesmerizing and find myself totally loosing myself in your videos for hours on end! Keep up the great work sir!
That is a VERY PROFESSIONAL competition chopper. You have my vote on the best I've seen made.
Was watching the end and thinking "Man, there should be some chopping with that chopper..." and then there was!
Excellent.
The craftsmanship is perfect and a joy to watch thank you for posting a great build ...
You have serious talent. Bravo, sir!
I love the attention put to the handle. I learned some things I'm definitely going to do a little different on my knife handles in the future. Thanks!

Having cut the wood with a bad technique shows that the chopper is excellent. XD
Nice work! The steel was so strong the drill press was struggling haha
Very impressive, nice work
las mejores pruebas que he visto en video!!! la recomentacion es poner la punta que vas a cortar apoyado en el tronco grande

I love your work! I have to say that I thought the last drill you used was a kids plastic toy at first! Thought you were playing around with us, lol!
Cool knife! The handle reminds me of revolver grips.
a knife so thick that can slice paper like this ? Man , this is razor sharp
Very nice knife respect :)
I made a cleaver that can do a better job than that.
Douglas Loven cool story
HIVE competition requires that level of sharpening
it pretty much ripped the paper on most of his tries.
Great work

Amazing skills.
How about tightening up on that chuck and maybe a little bit of oil while you drill Just a thought ?

Like the blade very much. but would also like to see you make one around 8-10 inches longer.

You got to use some drill oil when your drilling it will keep your bits cooler and keep them from grabbing the material
