I struggle with doing what is right and then not doing it. What keeps my head and heart above water is being able to talk my situations over with God and praying and staying in the word everyday. Asking for discernment 🙏🏻

@@destineewhite2600 I sincerely hope your situation has gotten better, I notice that this was 7 months ago. If you're still struggling please find a core group with a church who you can trust and share your problems. God doesn't ever wish for a divorce, and it is never a part of His plan, however in cases of physical and/or substance abuse there must be a limit to what you have to bear. It could be that you are put into his life in order to help him, who knows. But at any rate I'd love to hear an update. I'll check back here in a bit. Everyone here loves you and we wish you nothing but joy.

I listened to this several times this week and asked God to reveal it's deep and profound spiritual meaning. I grasp the goodness of the Law and how it became the magnifying glass that helped us see the sinful nature of our flesh. Praise God for His loving kindness and mercy that He freed us from the work of the Law and the consequence of the death it brings

    • @yestothetruth

I'm led to share this with you:
In Romans 7, Paul recounted his struggles under the Law while still seeking a deliverance, which he found in Jesus. In Romans 7:14 he clearly identified himself as being in bondage to sin, so he is not talking of his experience as a born again or saved person, a "new creature in Christ" (2 Corinthians 5:17) so to speak.
So, Romans 7 should never be used to explain that a Christian is continuing to live in sin. That's ignoring the foundation for the Christian life laid out in all of Romans 6, and missing the transition from Romans 7 to Romans 8:1 where the apostle Paul speaks of being in Christ Jesus and under no condemnation, not walking according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. Only then is he talking of his life as a Christian, having been delivered from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:2). That is the exact opposite of the situation in Romans 7:23 where he spoke about being in captivity to the law of sin working in his members.
Romans 7:14-25 is about the apostle Paul's experience when he was still in sin and lost and seeking a deliverance. He did find his deliverance / salvation / freedom from sin in Jesus (John 8: 31-36, Romans 6:7, 18).
      1 Peter 2:21-25
21 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow his steps, 2 who “committed no sin, nor was deceit found in his mouth.” 23 Who, when he was cursed, did not curse back. When he suffered, did not threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously; 24 who his own self bore our sins in his body on the tree, *that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness;* by whose wounds you were healed. 25 For you were going astray like sheep; but now have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
Please see the videos in my playlist called _"Be Set Free From Sin"_ for help with that if you need. Your obedience to God is the key to your deliverance from any sin that you are bound in (Hebrews 5:9). Then you can abide in Jesus and not sin (1 John 3:6).
      Peace to you!

Seems to be one of the oldest questions, "How do we do what we know is right when we know what we do is wrong?" Satan is very slippery. He can make us believe that what we are doing is good, when it very well may not be. How do we do what is right?? I think it revolves around prayer.

I wasn't going to post anything, but was greatly encouraged by someone who posted below. My Sin is ever before me. I fail every day. I can't do it by myself(Prais God for His Son and Church), and my flesh is always at war with my Soul(That's The Spirit and I together now[Solidarity].John/1John :) The struggle with Sin is real and a fight every day(Ephesians 6). It is so encouraging that God would have Paul share the struggle we all face in such a well relatable way. I love how God's Word knows me better than I do. Rev 19:13 Jesus Rules. And He will finish what He started in us all!! Phill.1:6. May God(Our Abba) bless your ministry and all those participating in this!!!!!

I was married at 22 although struggled with homosexual desire at the time of my marriage. We were both virgins on our wedding night. I struggled for almost 8 years and finally gave into my desires and cheated on my wife with another man. After 2 years of ex-gay support group I eventually left and separated from my wife. I lived the next 25 years as a “gay Christian” but not with any peace or joy. A little over 3 years ago I gave my life back to the Lord and I am committed to serving Him. But I still struggle with pornography and masturbation even though I do love the Lord with all my heart! I know we cannot serve 2 masters! It’s an endless cycle of falling, repenting, repeat! Please keep me in your prayers!

Good Question! Yeah, many people misunderstand this chapter because they think that it is Paul struggling with sin in the present tense. But he is actually recalling on himself on how he used to act when he was under the law(past tense). Paul is explaining that even though he knew what was good and that he wanted to do it, he still didn’t do it(and he is saying this under the law) not as a new creation in Christ like he is in the present tense when he is writing this. I hoped this helped!

      The law is the commandments.

    • @yestothetruth
      @yestothetruth 3 роки тому +2

Leslie Rodriguez, The law is summed up in loving God above all, and loving your neighbor (others) like you love yourself.
      Matthew 22:35-40
35 Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him [Jesus] a question, testing Him, and saying, 36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” 37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
      Romans 13:8-10
8 Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. 9 For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
      Galatians 5:13-14
13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
So, God's Law was given to the Israelites by God through Moses. It dictated the way the people needed to live to do God's will. From Exodus to Deuteronomy (books of the Bible) in particular, you will get a sense of life under the Law. Many directions were given in great detail as to what people could do or not do. The reality is that while the Law was not impossible to keep, no one could perfectly keep it. In Romans 7, the apostle Paul speaks about how when he was living under the law, he knew the right thing to do, but he was wrestling with himself to do the right thing. Any failure meant that he committed sin, which put him under the power of sin (like he being a slave to sin and sin being his master). He was then seeking a deliverance, which he ultimately found in Jesus (see the end of Romans 7).
Now, for someone who is in Jesus, that person has received the Spirit of God and stars being led by the Spirit of God, no longer being "under the Law." It does not mean the person becomes "lawless." On the contrary, the standard for keeping the Law is raised, but now the person has the Spirit to help him fulfill the Law through love.
      Romans 8:1-4
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
So, before someone gets saved and receives the Holy Spirit, that person could only walk according to the flesh (that's what's happening in Romans 7 starting in verse 14 where the apostle Paul speaks of when he was a slave to sin). When you hear walking according to the flesh, think of human effort only. But when the Spirit comes, it enables a brand new way of walking (living), which is walking according to the Spirit.
I don't know if all this is helpful.
For any follow up, feel free to reach me on my channel. I don't want to add much to this thread.
      Take care!

He did find his deliverance / salvation / freedom from sin in Jesus (John 8:31-36, Romans 6:7, 18).

Romans 7 explained : (1.) The woman is Israel and the husband is the mediator/protector/HUSBAND , for the people ( Israel ) , in the covenant with the Father . (2.) The Israelites who refused to live by faith ( That is repenting of their sins with a sorrowful heart , like king David did ; then believing by keeping the commandments of their mediator Moses ; which he received from the Father ; which is the law of faith ) , these fell under their mediator Moses protection ; under the sin sacrifice of atonement ; which the Father gave through a priesthood , the law of animal sacrifice ; which is the law of works . (3.) So then if , while her husband Moses liveth , she be married to another man , she shall be called to an adulteress ; but if her husband ( Moses ) be dead ( Hebrews 7:11-12 ) , she is free from that law ; so that she is no adulteress , though she be married to another man ( Jesus Christ ) . (4.) Wherefore , my brethren , ye also are become dead to the law ( animal sacrifice and oblations for atonement ) by the body of Christ ( repenting of your sins , and believing by obedience , the law of faith ) , even to him who is raised from the dead , that we should bring forth unto God ( 1 John 1:5-7 ) . (5.) For when we were in the flesh ( law of works , or law of animal sacrifice , or circumcision of flesh for sin through the priesthood of Leviticus ) , the motions of sins ( 1 John 3:4 , the transgression of thelaw of God ) , which were by the law ( Hebrews 10:1-4 ) , did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death . (6.) But now we are delivered from the law ( law of works , or law of animal sacrifice ; which was also called the law of sin and death ) , that being dead wherein we were held ; that we should serve in newness of spirit ( circumcised of heart for sin ) , and not in the oldness of the letter ( law of works , or circumcision of flesh for sin , through the priests , in the book of Leviticus ) .

. (7.) What shall we say then ? Is the law ( law of animal sacrifice ) sin ( 1 John 3:4 , the transgression of the law of God ) ? God forbid . Nay , I had not known sin ( 1 John 3:4 , the transgression of the law of God ) , but by the law ( law of animal sacrifice ) : for I had not known lust , except the law ( law of animal sacrifice or the law of sin and death ) had said , Thou shalt not covet ( Romans 3:20 , Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight : for by the law is the knowledge of sin ; Hebrews 10:1-4 , " 1. For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
      2. For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
      3. But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
      4. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. ) . (8.) But sin ( 1 John 3:4 , the transgressions of the law of God ) , taking occasion by the commandment ( law of animal sacrifice , or another name is ; the law of sin and death ) wrought in me all manner of concupiscence ( Romans 5:20 , " Moreover the law entered , that the offence might abound . But where sin abounded , grace did much more abound " ) . For without the law ( law of animal sacrifice , or law of sin and death ) sin ( 1 John 3:4 , the transgressions of the law of God ) was dead ( Romans 5:13, " For until the law ( law off animal sacrifice ) sin ( the transgression of the law of God ) was in the world ( which entered into the world when Adam transgressed against the law of God ) : but sin ( the transgression of the law of God ) is not imputed ( represents something undersirable as been done , caused or possessed by someone ) when there is no law ( law of animal sacrifice , or law of sin and death ) . What Paul is saying : Before the law of animal sacrifice was given through the mediator Moses for the sin of the flesh/body , the God of Israel required all to repent with a sorrowful heart , like king David did , through faith ; remember , grace by faith ; the priesthood of faith ( Melchisedec ) has always been available from the beginning , for the one's who live by faith . There is no grace or mercy through the law of animal sacrifice ,and some transgressions against the laws of the Father , there were no sacrifice to protect the flesh/body ( man picking up sticks on the sabbath day ) . ( 9.) For I was alive without the law once : ( law of animal sacrifice , or schoolmaster ) but when the commandment came ( law of animal sacrifice , or law of sin and death ) , sin ( 1 John 3:4 , the transgressions of the law of God ) revived , and I died ( Ezekiel 20:24-25 , " Because they had not executed my judgments , but had despised my statutes , and had polluted my sabbaths , and their eyes were after their father's idols . Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good , and judgments whereby they should not live " ) . And the commandment ( circumcision of the flesh/body for sin , or the law of animal sacrifice ) which was ordained to life ( keep the earthly tabernacle or body alive ) , I found to be unto death ( law of animal sacrifice could not forgive you of the heart/spirit , or the second tabernacle , or the second death ) . ( 10.) For sin ( 1 John 3:4 ,the transgressions of the law of God ) taking occasion by the commandment ( law of animal sacrifice , or the law of sin and death ) , deceived me , and slew me ( most of Israel believed that salvation came through the law of animal sacrifice , or the law of works , or another name was the law of Moses ; because Moses was the intercessor , or husband for the people under the covenant with the Father , through the priesthood of Leviticus ) . (11.) Wherefore the law ( animal sacrifice and oblations , or law of works ) is holy , and the commandments ( schoolmaster , or animal sacrifice ) holy , and just and good . ( 12.) Was then that which is good ( law of animal sacrifice or circumcision of flesh for sin ) made death unto me ( this sacrifice or atonement was for the earthly tabernacle , not the heavenly tabernacle ) ? God forbid . But sin ( 1 John 3:4 , the transgressions of the law of God ) , that it might appear sin ( 1 John 3:4 , the transgressions of the law of God ) ,working death in me by that which is good ( Hebrews 10:4 , " For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins " ; which the law of animal sacrifice was also called the law of sin and death . Once you transgress the laws of God , your circumcision is made uncircumcision , Romans 2:25 ) ; that sin ( 1 John 3:4 , the transgressions of the laws of God ) by the commandment ( law of animal sacrifice ) might become exceeding sinful ( Romans 5:20 ) . ( 13.) For we know that the law ( law of animal sacrifice ) is spiritual : but I am carnal sold under sin ( 1 John 3:4 , the transgressions of the law of God ) . For that which I do I allow not :for what I would , that do I not ; but what I hate , that do I ( What Paul is saying , when he should keep the laws of God , that he do not ; when he go through the law of animal sacrifice for the atonement of sin , that he should not do ; but what he hate ( law of animal sacrifice ) , that do I . ( 14.) If then I do that which I would not ( make an atonement through the law of animal sacrifice ) , I consent unto the law ( law of animal sacrifice ) that it is good ( which was only for the atonement of the flesh/body , not the heart/spirit ) . ( 15.) Now then it is no more I that do it , but sin ( 1 John 3:4 , the transgressions of the law of God ) that dwelleth in me . For I know that in me ( that is in my flesh ) dwelleth no good thing ( the circumcision of flesh for sin ) : for to will is present with me ; but how to perform that which is good I find not . ( 16.) For the good that I would I do not ( repenting by faith , the law of Christ ) : but the evil which I would not , that I do ( atonement through the law of works , or animal sacrifice ) . ( 17.) Now if I do that I would not ( atonement through the law of animal sacrifice ) , it is no more I that do it , but sin ( 1 John 3:4 , transgressions of the law of God ) that dwelleth in me ( law of animal sacrifice could not forgive you of the sins of the heart/spirit , because it was not of faith ) . ( 18.) I find the a law ( law of animal sacrifice , or law of sin and death ) , that , when I would do good ( go through the law of animal sacrifice for the atonement ) , evil is present with me ( law of works could not free you of the sins of the heart/spirit ) . ( 19.) For I delight in the law of GOD after the inward man ( law of faith , circumcision of the heart for sin ; which means that you repent of your sins with a sorrowful heart , then believe by obeying your mediator Jesus Christ commandments ; which he received from the Father ) . ( 20.) But I see another law in my members , ( law of animal sacrifice ; which the Israel continued to use for the cleaning of the body , not for SIN ; that became unclean due to touching a dead body , etc... ) , warring against the law of the mind ( circumcision of the heart/spirit for sin , or the law of Christ , or the law of grace , or the law of liberty , or the law of righteousness , or the law of faith , etc... ) , and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin ( law of animal sacrifice , or the law of sin and death ) which is in my members . ( 21.) O wretched man that I am who shall deliver me from the body of this death ( law of animal sacrifice , or the law of sin and death ) ? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord ( circumcision of the heart for sin ) . So then with the mind ( The atonement of faith through Jesus Christ ) I myself serve the law of God (The commandments of the Father ; which includes all the covenants ; which are instructions to righteousness ) ; but with the flesh the law of sin ( the law of animal sacrifice for the cleaning of the flesh/body , when it becomes unclean ) . When we use the word law , understand that the bible talks of three types of laws ( 1.) Laws of the Father ; which are his commandments/laws/instructions , that includes all the covenants that he has given man from the beginning ( Adam ) to the end of the creation ( white ; throne judgment ; these are instructions for righteousness ( 2 Timothy 3:14-17 ) ; (2.) The law for the atonement of sin of the flesh/body , through the mediator Moses ; which was called the law of animal sacrifice and oblations through works , not of faith or the inward man ; (3.) The law for the atonement of sin of the heart/spirit , through the mediator Jesus Christ ; which was called the law of faith ; the blood of Christ through faith ; which is to repent of your sins with a sorrowful heart , then believe by keeping the commandments of your mediator Jesus Christ ; which he received from the Father . Shalom !

You surely can get right in God's eyes from any circumstances of your life. I suggest that you lookup this message on UA-cam:
_"Born Again Through Repentance And Faith"_ by Zac Poonen.
You can start listening to the full message at 23:38.
That's to examine the foundation of your relationship with God (how it is that we get right with God in the first place).
Then, you will have a basis to seek God in prayer for his precise guidance so you can move forward the way He directs you and have peace.
      God be with you!

Romans 7 is poorly constructed in the last few verses. Check out moffatt or JB Phillips

Romans 7:14:24 The majority of the saints believed this was not about Saved Apostle Paul. But instead, a Lost Convicted Jew under the Law. None of them believed this was about Saved Apostle Paul sinning until Augustine. Anyone can research and figure out what is true. Jews did and still do delight in Gods law.
Paul even tells you he is writing to those under the Law aka Jews.
They are conscious they break it and repent, but its a cycle. The concience is the inner man. And nothing in Romans 7 says that this man Romans 7:14-24 has the Holy Spirit. If you just read Romans 6 and Then 8 and then 7, you could see a massive shift that no one can rightfully explain away the contradictions. You can't be enslaved to sin and free from sin.. that's a contradiction.

Satan knows where we are weak, so he tempts us constantly in those areas. I'm a believer in avoiding situations where we struggle. Example: I used to be an alcoholic, so I avoid going into bars. Unfortunately, other areas are not as easy. You may see a pretty girl and have thoughts. You can't avoid seeing pretty girls as you must go to the store, work, school, etc. In those moments it is on us to pray for God to put blinders on us.
