When she's about to cut her face she sees the one on her throat. She even touches her throat right after. That's what I got out of it atleast.

This metal head episode of black mirror was the most horrifying one for me. I couldn’t sleep after watching this.. I already am scared of robots tho :D
Yeah, one of the creepiest scene is when we see far away the metalhead coming to her on the lawn. The idea of it chasing you without any chance to survive is obscure.
From the Black Mirror Christmas episode. "You want to break them down enough to be functional, too much time in solitary and they become useless. You might sell them to the gaming industry as canon fodder for war games."
Never have I ever been more pissed at the protagonist. Like bloody hell they can make a teddy at home or just tell the kid that he can't have it given the risk. Moreover she took too long on the walkie talkie. But then of course it is more like a metaphor. But come on. Three lives lost for a toy? That's some expensive teddy
Who decided the robots were "dogs"??? Anyone with a healthy phobia knows they're *insects* , BUGS!!! The body shape, the way they move, their backwards joints, the relentless single minded motivation, they were just missing the disgusting antennae! They are horrible, mechanical *BUGS* ! So unfair to malign innocent dogs 🐕 😔 2:13 I'm glad you've questioned your life choices; Easter Eggs are tedious and dumb. 2:25 The least favorite episode of my favorite show, but I appreciate the comparisons. As for the overall story, I wanted to know how things got to this point.
Ok, so you can see some light in the deep darkness of this episode. It's just that this little glimmer of hope won't really change much. This whole episode is just comparing the final days of a dying child and the last few steps of humanity before the inevitable end. These robots feel no pity, no remorse, no fear. They will not stop until evey last human is dead. This episode is about as dark as it gets, so it makes sense why it's shot in black and white.
What's dark is that the robot is almost certainly a drone. The technology doesnt seem so far advanced they could casually make an advanced AI for a replaceable, mass produced weapon and it was able to problem solve at a level beyond a simple point and shoot program. So there was probably a human operator somewhere behind it, guiding its actions, playing it like a videogame.
@@dustinjones7458 Yeah, that's also one possibility. Doesn't necessarily have to be a "Skynet" orchestrated genocide, when humans are perfectly capable of doing that on their own.
I’m sorry but 3 people dying for a teddy bear when humanity is on the verge of extinction? No that’s not humane, that’s just dumb … I love the episode though and she put one hell of a fight 👏🏼
Humanity: Dying for a teddy bear to comfort a sick child vs Humanity: Would build such horrible, impersonal weapons for the sole purpose of slaughtering innocent people as an area denial tactic. Black Mirror is like, which one do you want to be our future?
yeah this episode confused tf outta me. i see why it’s dystopic and can even see it happening in the future, but it didn’t feel like the rest of the episodes
This is the most underrated & yet the scariest episode of the series. Idiots focus on the social credit etc episodes when the tech behind everything in this episode has been there since 2010.
I liked this episode as a proper "change of pace" for Black Mirror instead of the "happy" ones like San Junipero. It was black and white, and was more of a bottle episode where the connectivity of the other episodes did not apply, yet was still in the theme of being dark and technology run amok. Plus, the change of pace is felt in this being basically a chase Doing that theme would lead one to do a "end of the world" episode and this one I think fit nicely.
You're amazing , by the way :) Dog could be military weapons for wiping roaches but what about the pigs ? They ain't roach. And what about the non-roach human beings ? I think dogs SUPPOSED to be a military weapon but thing got out of hand. This happens in a Far Far away future
Metalhead had a horrible ending. If anything, it's an unintentional satire of unbridled suburban consumerism transcending through to the apocalypse it likely caused. It's about a "parent" who can't say no to their "kid" about getting a toy -- so a whole bunch of people have to die to get it.
The kid was dying. That last, pathetic act of mercy and kindness was all they had left to give. Sometimes I think the world is divided between people who understand why you'd do that and people who would operate metal head drones for a paycheck.
@@dustinjones7458 "Sometimes I think the world is divided between people who understand why you'd do that and people who would operate metal head drones for a paycheck." Okay, because only those two options could possibly exist. There couldn't possibly be the option of comforting the kid in some other way and not risking your life, especially as it was an obvious suicide mission. Furthermore, there's nothing indicating they are operated drones. Also, having everyone die to the metalhead robots for a teddy bear is still dumb, even if it is for a dying kid. You're right; there are two types of people in the world: Naive idealists who think the ends justify any means if it "feels right", regardless of whether those ends are correct or even attainable (e.g. communists). Then there are people who have a balanced sense of judgement and don't act purely on the emotion to throw everything away to make some useless point or satisfy some pointless sentimentality. The kid is dying and you're going to kill three people to give that kid a teddy bear? Hence you've already resigned yourself to the fate that all is lost, because that is the only way to justify such a fruitless suicide mission. There are two types of people: Those with hope and those without it. The only implication that living and resisting is pointless in the Metalhead world, is the characters' willingness to sacrifice themselves for trivialities. They have lost all hope, while no reality in life implies hopelessness; it is a choice to lose hope. Just ask Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn.
While a few people disagreed with some of us who feltnthe episode was ridiculous hear this out. It was ridiculous base on the people looking to find a teddy bear for a sick child. Look at TWD aka The Walking Dead. The lead characters would had made a teddy bear for the sick child not go out looking just to find one. Plus TWD characters would have been smarter to guess how to shut these robot dogs down or destroy them. While she was in the house and threw paint on the robot dog shebshould had shoot it twice and flee the room. It's not as if she was not aware of what they're capable of. Stuck in a tree? Should had pick up a branch instead of climbing a tree and bust the robot upside it head. Enough of the female characters in TWD would used their heads quicker. Apart from the episode looked good in black/white it could had done better using food/water search instead of just for one teddy bear!! So now three people dead for nothing.
yeah but you’re taking it at face value. i understand ur point but it’s not about the efficiency or point of the mission ,, it’s the sincerity and symbolism and social commentary of it !! if you read into it more you’ll understand . black mirror and black mirror writers don’t do shit for nothing. and this women isn’t stupid
This was a terrific episode. I would have liked the heroine to have achieved a small degree of success after her strife. Also, showing us the teddy bears in the box spols it slightly too.
I'd say it was one of those things where the effort counts more than the outcome. Metalhead shows humanity at two extremes-the empathy of someone risking their life to bring comfort to a dying child vs the sort of people who'd construct this impersonal horror drone as a weapon of war. I mean, would you want to be the one going for the bear-or the one operating the drone?
@@Foxtrot369 Sure, believe whatever helps you sleep at night. The Drone acted in manner indicating not only intelligence and problem solving, but actual understanding of human behavior. Occams razor is that rather than programming that into a robot, you simply pay some kid college to tuition to 'play videogames' and outsource the violence from a cheerful dissociation of blame. Which is what is happening Right now. In the real world. Today.

I think they were trying to get that bear t transfer the kids consciousness to it. The very next episode is the one where the guy puts his wife in a doll. Im surprised noone has come up with this theory yet.

IMAGINE If in the final shot, the teddy bears appeared in colour while the rest is still black and white. Showing that the only happy thing in this world are those toys.
Well, these dogs will be used for military reasons more than any humanitarian goal. Which is disappointing, so if you see one, I dunno, give it a kick.
Great video like always, but I feel you may have missed a very obscure reference about Golden Brown, which despite sounding like a love song is actually about heroin addiction. What that means for the episode, I have no idea, but I'd be interested in yours :)

I think no dialogue would've been great, maybe if the box had something else besides a teddy bear. I get what the bears represent but still maybe medicine, food or some othe necessity. Overall very good episode
"If you can feel that staying human is worth while, even when it can't have any result whatever, you've beaten them."
1984; George Orwell...
Exact message of the episode. So many missed it.
These videos are the only good thing happening rn😌
Yea think we could all use some escapism rn
This is probably Black Mirror's most underrated episode! I loved it so much, especially the ending.
I didn't even notice the lack of any other animal, wow, thank you for pointing that one out!
Did pick up the animal farm references though! Should've seen the rest!
This probably the last on the black mirror timeline
it's in a video game you can see it in the episode bandersnatch
The episodes absolutely don’t tie in together
A little more....BEAR-able?
unfortunately wrong time to say that
Great video! But you said that she decides to end her life because she realized that she didn't have time, I thought it was because she realized that she also had a tracker right by her throat. When she's about to cut her face she sees the one on her throat. She even touches her throat right after. That's what I got out of it atleast.
I think it was when she saw the one in her throat, that she thought of her throat, and decided to give up.
Fan theories of Black Mirror episodes make me giggle, sometimes the premise is too simple so we overthink the concept - Metalhead is one of those I sat there for a good long time until I found this video and it all clicked. Well done.
the final shot of the box of teddy bears broke me.
I always thought that she was trying to get a teddy bear for her child
Her nephew. Listen to the dialogue.

@@impulsop1397 what’s that?
@@hayfordsarfo1646 this old thing Graenolf used to say back in the days when he made skyrim vids. Its like an inside joke thing because he never told us what it really meant

"Chased by an adorable puppy" killed me😂
Killed her too.
I’m not a diehard fan, just a casual watcher. And I don’t understand the hate for men against fire. The story is just so realistic*
I love it and I’m a military member.
Men Against Fire is one of my favorite episodes
It’s not bad, it’s just SO BORING (to me)
Actually Bella and her crew was very foolish because as Spock said ....the needs of one never out weigh the many ...they were on a fools errand..for a bloody teddy...three died and nothing was accomplished...
She should have just hand made a teddy bear with a sewing kit and leftover fabric. Learn to sew kids lol
Serious as this episode was, I can't get past the fact that Veronica from Shameless died for a fucking teddy.
honestly anyone that is in high school and above should know what animal farm is
I remember reading that a lot of fans didn't really like this episode but I really loved it.
I love your black mirror content, it's super interesting 💖
Thanks, that's awesome to hear!
I do like that idea that the teddy bears had cookies in them or something along those lines. Wish this episode connected more, but it was good nonetheless
We keep calling them dogs, but they look more like giant cockroaches. It fits, because they will eventually be the last "living" things in the world.
Yes, I saw them as roaches too
but the last living creature on earth is supposed to be the tardigrade
This metal head episode of black mirror was the most horrifying one for me. I couldn’t sleep after watching this.. I already am scared of robots tho :D
Yeah, one of the creepiest scene is when we see far away the metalhead coming to her on the lawn. The idea of it chasing you without any chance to survive is obscure.
From the Black Mirror Christmas episode.
"You want to break them down enough to be functional, too much time in solitary and they become useless. You might sell them to the gaming industry as canon fodder for war games."
Hey wassup? you just made my day way better thax
Awesome to hear!
Your Analysis is on point thanks for helping me figure this one out
Never have I ever been more pissed at the protagonist. Like bloody hell they can make a teddy at home or just tell the kid that he can't have it given the risk. Moreover she took too long on the walkie talkie. But then of course it is more like a metaphor. But come on. Three lives lost for a toy? That's some expensive teddy
I was not prepared for the Black Museum spoilers man....I was watching these in order :(
I mean he did warn ya at the beginning of the episode + I dont think that it was that big of a spoiler
Never rely on Black Mirror for a happy ending. Except one. The "Coach" thingy
The message of this episode reminds me of the short story, "I have no mouth, and I must scream"
Thank you so much for this video! I appreciate your attention to detail always and your hard work :))
Thank you, glad you like it!
So unfair to malign innocent dogs 🐕 😔
2:13 I'm glad you've questioned your life choices; Easter Eggs are tedious and dumb.
2:25 The least favorite episode of my favorite show, but I appreciate the comparisons.
As for the overall story, I wanted to know how things got to this point.
Because dogs can track and hunt to kill, I guess?
I missed your goodbye outro, nice and sharp 4k video keep up the good work man, greetings from Mexico.
Thank you!
Great video as always 👍🏼
Thank you, more Black Mirror on the way!
This episode can be a perfect level for a videogame
@ghost mall xD ure right
I’m sorry but 3 people dying for a teddy bear when humanity is on the verge of extinction? No that’s not humane, that’s just dumb … I love the episode though and she put one hell of a fight 👏🏼
Humanity: Dying for a teddy bear to comfort a sick child vs Humanity: Would build such horrible, impersonal weapons for the sole purpose of slaughtering innocent people as an area denial tactic.
Black Mirror is like, which one do you want to be our future?
yeah this episode confused tf outta me. i see why it’s dystopic and can even see it happening in the future, but it didn’t feel like the rest of the episodes
People who kicked and used a stick to poke the Boston Dynamic robots:
Your videos are amazing !!! Please review Black Mirror's "Men Against Fire" episode !!!
No one reviews that one correctly or for long. It reminds me of Jacob's Ladder.
Thank you! I'm currently working on that one!
This is the most underrated & yet the scariest episode of the series. Idiots focus on the social credit etc episodes when the tech behind everything in this episode has been there since 2010.
If it wouldn’t have been for this video I would have always thought that this was such a dark ending
yayayay thank you for uploading this
I liked this episode as a proper "change of pace" for Black Mirror instead of the "happy" ones like San Junipero.
Good review bro
Thank you!
I want a "how to beat" video on this episode of black mirror.
You're amazing , by the way :)
Dog could be military weapons for wiping roaches but what about the pigs ? They ain't roach. And what about the non-roach human beings ? I think dogs SUPPOSED to be a military weapon but thing got out of hand. This happens in a Far Far away future
Thank you!
Sometimes I think the world is divided between people who understand why you'd do that and people who would operate metal head drones for a paycheck.
oh shut up that is such a shallow view
@@dustinjones7458 "Sometimes I think the world is divided between people who understand why you'd do that and people who would operate metal head drones for a paycheck."
Okay, because only those two options could possibly exist.
@@no-jm3tw Oh yes, please enlighten us with your brilliant depth. I wait with bated breath.
The dog robot looks like a robot bug.
Having still nightmares about this episode and i ve watched it several years ago
Wait, is that a redo from an original video?
@@dustinjones7458 They were AI robots, there wasn't anyone operating them.
Today.
I thought this was the worst episode same thing with the Waldo. I immediately knew that I was not gonna enjoy this episode or that it was boring. I never hear anybody mention about this episode. I still watch it because I feel like that would be the shocking, plot twist
the ''dog'' made me think of the ''dog'' in the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury (1953)
Are you still making these videos? 😍 Absolutely subscribed for the Black Mirror content 💕 looovee
Thank you so much! I'm still making them!
Bryce Edward Brown aww yay! 😁 I look forward to your next episode then! I’m only on season 2 so far so I’ve hit a bit of a temporary road block with your videos so to speak 😂💕
Hey Bryce can you please explain the end of Shutter island? I like the way you explained.
Watched the explanations of black mirror . Impressive. Requesting you to do of Shutter Island.
Thanks
then what 95-DY42 mean? are all those boxes filled of teddy bear or just box 95-DY42?
I think this is my least favorite episode. I'm not sure why.
Because it's just so foolish to try get the toys for a child with this danger. Other episodes have some logic.
Simple. It was a stupid person doing some thing stupid ending up in a stupid situation. The End.
Me too, totally didn’t see anything special about itv
I hope only of this fourth series and not Black Mirror as a whole. Shit like "Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too" is way dumber and messy.
I love that place went there for a tour with my college 🖤
Was looking forward to this one
Hope it was worth the wait!
I think they were trying to get that bear t transfer the kids consciousness to it. The very next episode is the one where the guy puts his wife in a doll. Im surprised noone has come up with this theory yet.
The metal creatures make me think of the demodogs from Stranger Things
This episode really reminded me of The Second Variety by Phillip k Dick, told from the side of the mostly dead Soviet army. The independently controlled robots decimating all life, living in a wasteland
I can only imagine what other models were made by the same company… considering just how lethal it was, and it was only efficiently lethal.
I laughed very hard when the dog picked up the knife.
I also think the fact that the tracker was in her neck near the jugular meant that she couldn't have survived the procedure 😢
IMAGINE If in the final shot, the teddy bears appeared in colour while the rest is still black and white. Showing that the only happy thing in this world are those toys.
Remember when a BMW3 Series could outrun a van? Yea, me too.
The bear pun tho
Empathy is not irrational.. Cruelty is irrational.
Not even talking about BM: Bandersnatch, the Metal Hedd poster?
More videos like this please!
More on the way!
Well, these dogs will be used for military reasons more than any humanitarian goal.
Which is disappointing, so if you see one, I dunno, give it a kick.
What happened to the videos for White Bear, Hang the DJ, and Men Against Fire?
I'm redoing some of those videos!
Great video like always, but I feel you may have missed a very obscure reference about Golden Brown, which despite sounding like a love song is actually about heroin addiction. What that means for the episode, I have no idea, but I'd be interested in yours :)
