  • From crocodile mummies to five-cent turtles, reptile-keeping has a long and fascinating history. When I dove into researching it, I was mind blown! In this documentary, I'll teach you about the history of reptile keeping (going all the way back to Ancient Egypt). This documentary includes interviews with everyone from the breeder of some of the original corn snake morphs (Kathy Love), to experts in reptile lighting (Dr. Frances Baines), and even the world's leading ball python breeder (Justin Kobylka)! This project is the culmination of my work over the last six months. I hope you enjoy it!

2:26 one interesting fact about the Crocodile mummies that wasn't mentioned, talking about taxonomy. Until recently, modern scientists considered Crocodylus niloctus and Crocodylus suchus to be the same species, Nile Crocodile. However, every single known mummified Crocodile has been of the species Crocodylus suchus, the Sacred or West African Crocodile. The Ancient Egyptians recognized these two types of crocodiles as different species even though scientists didn't acknowledge them as such until 2003!

I think I can honestly call this the greatest UA-cam video I have ever seen. Thank you Hunter for doing such an incredible job researching these topics and sharing your research with all of us! If you ever do a Part 2 of this video, I would be ecstatic! You deserve way more subscribers/views than you get, given the choice between watching you and watching someone like Snake Discovery, often considered the most popular reptile youtuber, I'd easily choose you any day of the week!
