This is what I tell everybody when they watch the show - get through the first few episodes because you'll learn to love the characters. Sure, they're all flawed. But the growth and development they receive over 6 seasons is fantastic.

The Sopranos had James Gandolfini and Edie Falco winning on the same night twice I believe. I also think it’s a consolation since it didn’t win much since it been on. I figured it would win best comedy because everyone over at Golden Derby had it listed as number one or tied with Mrs. Maisel. If you want to see egregious wins go look at the Grammys in 1980 when Christopher Cross won all 4 of the general field just like Billie Eilish did last year. 🥴

Originally she had wanted the role of Stevie Budd but that role went to Emily Hampshire but Abby Elliott, who is Chris Elliott's daughter, got the role of Alexis but she had to turn it down because of prior commitments. So, Annie auditioned for the role of Alexis but Eugene had the role in mind for a blonde haired girl and Annie was a brunette haired girl. So, Dan had to convince his dad that Annie was right for the part by putting blonde hair pieces over her audition photos. Eugene finally said to Dan okay!

I've seen enough interviews with the cast of this show to know how important this is for Annie Murphy. Both her and Emily Hampshire were basically ready to give up on their careers when they got these roles, and now look at what it's done for them both. I'm so happy this show has done so well, it's a testament to what good writing and character development, combined with a loving and genuine cast, can all achieve when a network gives them the time and space to create. Every network out there should be taking notes right now, and hopefully hiring creative directors who get it and can stand between the money-grubbing suits in the boardroom and the creators who make such amazing shows as this.
You nailed it. Shows need time to grow, and Schitt's Creek is a perfect example. It is ridiculous to cancel a project after a few weeks of "poor" ratings. Fine wines need time to age.

I must say that when you work with Eugene Levy and his family you truly become a member of the Levy family. Dan fought really hard to give Annie that part. Of course he had to try and convince his dad that Annie was right for that part by putting blonde hairswatches overtop of her audition photos and that was when Eugene knew that he had his Alexis Rose.
Me and my mom literally screamed. I’m also 29. I think we were most happy for Annie because she wasn’t as expected to win, when she SO DESERVES IT!!! Ohmygah still can’t get over the amazingness of that SWEEP!

Im so glad they did i have watched this series twice over its just so funny and sad and happy all in one. There is not one bad episode throughout....they all deserve these emmys. Dan was the one who twisted his dad's arm to get Annie this part and it paid off in the end because she played the part of a spoiled bratty socialite very well. To have someone that you're as close as Annie and Dan are and with him repeatedly shouting out "YES" as you're walking up and accepting the one award that you worked for a year to get is very heartwarming. Then to see Dan mouth the words "oh my god" is good too because it means that Dan believed that she could work the part.
I could not have been any more happier watching Annie Murphy win the Emmy! She created her character & deserved this Emmy. Too bad that more people didn’t know about the show until covid 19. Well deserved Annie! Much love!
This brought tears to my eyes because she so deserved it and the cast so deserved it and the show and it made my night. I cried happy tears because something good and fair finally happened in the world.
This is one of my most favorite comedies. So happy she finally got the opportunity gift of her life after two years of no job offers. That was because in the beginning, Dan fought really hard to give this part to Annie even though she wasn't really what Eugene had in mind for this part. He wanted a blond-haired girl to play this part and Annie had brunette hair. So to help his dad envision this part for Annie, Dan put blonde hair swatches over her audition photos and so Dan won that argument.
I remember her from Blue Mountain State! She was only in a couple of episodes, but I kept thinking, “wow, she is awesome! I hope I see her in more shows!” And now this!!! Congrats!!!!
Let me tell you, The character of Alexis took me a bit to warm up to the way she developed had me rooting and cheering every at accomplishment, and here I am crying as The wonderful Annie Murphy accepts her Emmy. Schitts creek made being with the Roses so endearing and intimate, this feels like I myself are in that room with them . Congratulations
Honestly, I had a doubt she was gonna win. I was floored when I heard she was nominated! When hearing her story that before Schitt's Creek, she wasn't able to find an acting work for 2 years and almost quit acting made me sad, especially when she's a talented actor. She's my favourite - as both Annie and Alexis. Now, look at her - an Emmy-Award actor. I hope to see more of her work in the future. I'm so proud of her.
I think Annie had a doubt that she was going to win. She told Catherine O'Hara that she didn't have a speech prepared because she didn't think that she was going to win it.

Annie Murphy really really deserved this. She was almost flawless in the final season and brought so much depth to a character that could easily have become a ditzy stereotype.

They got it right that night for sure. Schitts creek finally got recognition and awarded for the greatness that it was. This show went largely undetected for more than 75% of its time on air. Netflix is what launched this show globally. Right as they were entering their last season did it really catch ob. So they finally got what was deserved. Well deserved

Dan was the one who twisted his dad's arm to get Annie this part and it paid off in the end because she played the part of a spoiled bratty socialite very well. To have someone that you're as close as Annie and Dan are and with him repeatedly shouting out "YES" as you're walking up and accepting the one award that you worked for a year to get is very heartwarming. Then to see Dan mouth the words "oh my god" is good too because it means that Dan believed that she could work the part.

This is one of my most favorite comedies. So happy she finally got the opportunity gift of her life after two years of no job offers. That was because in the beginning, Dan fought really hard to give this part to Annie even though she wasn't really what Eugene had in mind for this part. He wanted a blond-haired girl to play this part and Annie had brunette hair.
So to help his dad envision this part for Annie, Dan put blonde hair swatches over her audition photos and so Dan won that argument.

Honestly, I had a doubt she was gonna win. I was floored when I heard she was nominated! When hearing her story that before Schitt's Creek, she wasn't able to find an acting work for 2 years and almost quit acting made me sad, especially when she's a talented actor. She's my favourite - as both Annie and Alexis. Now, look at her - an Emmy-Award actor. I hope to see more of her work in the future. I'm so proud of her.
