In Beast Wars, Dinobot downloaded a copy of himself into the Axalon. That made it into the show. They were going to do an ep where Rat Trap retrieves that backup and uploads it in Transmetal 2 Dinobot to get his friend back, but it ultimately didn't work because Dinobot 2's spark was half a spark cut out of Rampage. Yet in the finale they act like all that happened, so when Rampage dies, Transmetal 2 Dinobot immediately becomes Dinobot.
