I am just taking my traverse to the nearest junk yard. The 2009 Traverse has to be one of the worst vehicles ever manufactured. This car is an embarrasment to GM/Chevy. Did anyone ever think of driving this vehicle before it was released. I pray daily for anyone else who owns this vehicle. I have owned the vehicle for 2 years and it has been ripped apart 6 times with everything replaced. All the known service bulletins have been done. Every issue found on forums have been either checked or completed. This is an absolute nightmare. Thank you for letting me vent.
Great information. The only thing is you this in a primitive way, use an inspection camera. I was able to the check by my self with a Milwaukee camera. there are relatively cheap usb cameras for smart phones as well.

@@dwightlee6164 hi, im in the process of timing chain replacement, ill let u know how does it do, the only thing i notice is that i was able to push down the timing belt tensioner on bank 1, the othe 2 tensioners wer very stiff or very fix w no movement at all but the bank 1 was able to push it and was not under pressure as the other 2.
If we do see this issue on the sprocket shown in the video, is it just that the sprocket that needs to be changed? I didn’t see the “fix” instructions on the vid. What would be your next steps?
U showed us what the problem is but how do I fix it now ??? My Acadia is doing this now and I think the magnet has moved. Please help me with the repair.
It's a BIG job to replace the crankshaft. This is more of a diagnostic video, because this problem can be caused by either the crankshaft OR the timing chains, both are expensive and it would suck to do the wrong one based on a bad guess.
so what you are trying to explain is what? if the tone ring is moved then what do you do? i replaced the timing chains on a 3.6 with the solenoids and the cam gears but i keep getting the p0016 and p0018.
Tsb calls for the whole crank to be replaced. If it was me and I was prepared to pull the crank out, I would just forcibly rotate the wheel back to its correct position and either drill and pin it in place or severs stitch welds.
If the gear or sprocket on crank has turned...do i need a new crankshaft or is that serviceable? I did timing chains, actuators/phasers, and have the cam holding tools for both stages...but now have a p0019 code
hello I have a 2016 Chevy Traverse Lt AWD on the passenger side of the engine under the power steering lines on the engine there's sensors that go inside the engine one of mine broke of inside not sure which one it is I thought it was the crank shaft position sensor but after watching videos it's not please help me figure this out ty
Good video sir. I do have a question though. How will you know when it is the correct position as shown on the paper? I ask because, that part was not in your video.
When you're looking in the hole, all I see are the teeth, where in relation to the crankshaft is that location. Can you show the actual procedure and how you count teeth while looking through the hole? I don't know what area you can see through the hole
Mine is a 2009, AWD. The crankshaft positioning sensors are on the front (Passenger side) of the engine. I have both the P0016, P0017 (bank one-against the fire wall). with a mirror I can see into the hole, but which one exhaust or intake should I be spinning to the location you showed, both look very similar through the peep hole. I have replaced all 3 chains and guides, followed the procedure to a "T" with the special cam blocks to prevent cam rotation, and the engine runs great other than a little rough idle once it warms up, I am hoping resolving this code, will resolve that...any guidance please...this is the only video that comes close to explaining what I am seeing.
has anyone just turned the tone ring back and tacked it in place? seems like this should be possible. I am working on a 2010 Vue that has these codes, being all wheel drive I'm considering if it is easier to pull the oil pan or transferase motor. Makes more since to pull the oil pan if I find the tone ring off and i can somehow turn it back...
Thanks bro I'm doing a timing chain I have the same 4 codes in my case I had to take the transfer case because this is an all wheel drive but now I can go ahead and change the timing chains because I know the ring tone for the crankshaft position sensor on this engine is good. I would of hate to change the timing chain and I had a bad ring tone and I would be getting the same codes I that was to happen I would of lost my mind and grew some gray hairs be now I know it's good thanks to you video so I can go ahead and put the new timing chains
If you have all 4 of these codes then it's probably something to do with that crankshaft. If it's just 1 or 2 codes on 1 side of the engine it's probably bad chains. Correct?
Exactly the same thing here, purchased my 2009 acadia with high miles, still on original timing chain and 17 codes all related to timing issues. Me and my daughter replaced the chains (3) purchased the keeper jigs to stop engine movement when installing the new chain.
