  • My Favorite knitting notions and how to use them. Notions are the tiny tools that make knitting better, easier, and smarter. In this video, I'll share with you my favorite notions and some fun and different ways to use them in your knitting.
I use the Cocoknits Stitch Fixer to pick up dropped stitches in my knitting
I use removeable stitch markers for all kinds of things
I use my double pointed needles for cables, for re-working a section of knitting, and for counting my stitches and rows
I use my darning needle for seaming, weaving in ends, and for teasing out a tangle of yarn
I use a spare, small-gauge circular needle to slip my stitches on when a disaster occurs, and as a long circular stitch holder
I use highlighter tape to mark the sections of a chart and the rows of a pattern.
And more. Share with me your favorite notions and what you use them for.
I'm Ellen Lewis, and I've been helping knitters learn about and understand their stitches and their fabric and become more confident and intuitive knitters for more than 20 year. I love it when beginners and more experienced knitters alike have an Aha! moment and begin to understand their knitting better.

I have multiple project bags with notions kits in all of them. It's great when you want to grab and go off with a project. And I absolutely love Knit Companion . I switched to the paid version after about a year of using the free version. I knit lots of colorwork, especially sweaters, and KC is awesome for that. I would appreciate if you did come out with a video for Knit Companion. I use it lots but I am sure there is so much that I have tried yet. Thanks for another informative and fun episode! 🙋🏽‍♀💜🧶

I have a ton of notions. In my ideal world they would be in bags or boxes so I could grab them and go. I love my Clover Row Counter. 😊

I dont carry my notions with me. They always stay at home. I only bring easy knits when I go away 😊I have a bag where all of them are supposed to be but in reality most of them are in my knitting bowl on the kitchen table. But in reality it is my handicraft table. When we eat I just push it all aside so we get room for our plates 😅

Duplicate notions with each project . Gather everything I need before starting a project .
