- Unsure of which DIY curly haircut to try first? I’ve tried both methods for chopping my own curly hair and I’m sharing the pros and cons of the unicorn haircut vs. the pigtails haircut from testing them both out. The better method for you depends all on the type of layers & shape you are trying to achieve in your own curls. In my own experience, a good layered curly haircut at home has been much better than going to curly hair salons.

If I use the unicorn method and put the ponytail further back almost near my crown would it give roughly equal length layers in front and back?
For the curly girls who occasionally go straight (special occasions/ holidays) do you still cut your hair wet/dry curly or straight??
Hi my love, the wet cut is the best option if you still enjoy occasionally straightening your hair because it is WAY more precise than the dry cut. When you do go to get it straightened I recommend doing a micro trim to make sure everything is nice and even. And to answer your question, I still do the wet cut. It is my favorite so far 💜

My cutting curly hair is opposite, if I cut it wet it’s more dramatic. If I cut dry it looks less.
